Patriots vs. Ravens game flexed out of SNF, kickoff to start at 4:25 PM EST

Some of us don't live in BMore. As long as I can catch the game on CBS I'll be fine though. Have a weird feeling about this Detroit game.

Weird as in good or weird as in bad?

It's not about the city itself, it's about the metro. Baltimore's market is just Baltimore and some of the surrounding counties, plus a little of Southern PA. DC has DC itself, plus the massive populations in PG/MoCo/Charles counties in Maryland, as well as a good portion of Northern VA.

Not to mention BAL doesn't have decades of legacy fans like. WAS, GB etc. do.

The Bears game over the Pats and Ravens? This will be the better game. The Ravens will win by 1.

Agreed, BAL doesn't have to worry about Gronk anymore, so they can just blanket Brady's ensemble cast all night. Helps a lot that NE has no consistency at RB. ;)

I didn't read this entire thread so I don't know if it was addressed here, but I didn't see anything on the final (most recent) page, so I figure I'll mention it...

This really probably has less to do with wanting Eagles/Bears for the Sunday Night game as it is about wanting to replace Steelers/Packers in the afternoon nationally televised slot on CBS.

The Steelers/Packers game just doesn't have nearly the weight and interest that it might have had if each team was performing better and Aaron Rodgers wasn't injured.

Word is the NFL owed CBS a favor for allowing the NFL to take their Broncos/Chiefs game and flex it into the prime time slot a few weeks ago, which CBS originally had as a protected game.  The repayment for that is most likely coming in 2 weeks, where instead of having to show Steelers/Packers nationally televised, they will get to show Ravens/Patriots.

It's just the principle behind it. I am sick and tired of NBC shoving the NFC east down our throats so much. Dallas will never win their week 17 elimination game, because they are about as clutch as well, Tony Romo in Seattle in the Playoffs. The Ravens and Bengals could fight for the AFC North crown in week 17. Yet they will still flex the Cowboys Eagles game in an attempt to HOPE America's team can finally win.

True. How the bengals steelers game isnt flexed is beyond me.

This is nothing more than analyzing data and flexing to the game they think will get the highest rating.  Stop acting like the NFL just kicked your dog.

The Ravens ARE the equivalent of my dog: I love them and don't want to see them kicked around.

Understand it being moved but not for the game it was moved for. Id expect us to get a prime time slot against the bengals if it comes down to winner gets division and loser goes home

They won't know that in time to flex it. Unless they are willing to take a chance if Pitt beats Cincy this week and we beat Detroit.

I think the consensus is its Cam or Flacco's fault.

I think Robert Kraft is behind it. He must have something planned for Monday and wants to catch an earlier flight out of Baltimore.

For The last week, they can wait until all the games are finished the week prior.

I for one am pleased.  Those midnight drives home are treacherous.  An hour to get out of the lot and then chugging energy drinks the entire way home.

4:00 games are my favorite.  And who cares about prime time.  All I care about are the 72K people watching it at the Bank.  They are the 12th Man.  ;)

the ravens were informed last week that there game would be flexed if they were to lose against the Vikings. Since we won, I just don't get this- seems like someone was bound and determined to see the Bears/eagles. Could Suggs comments about Godell earlier in the year have played a part in this seemingly spiteful decision?

Unless it means someone will not be able to watch or attend due to the new time, why care? The players are probably happy to get home earlier.

The players are.  On 105.7 last night, they were talking to Michael Oher and asked him about the flex.  He said the locker room was actually happy to have it happen so they didn't have to wait as long and could get out of there earlier.

Wow...disrespect there!

I disagree! Based on the potential that the Ravens could lose to Detroit while the Patriots win against Miami, then the game has little to no meaning to a national audience. I've accepted that the Ravens current record is the cause of the switch and has nothing to do with disrespect. It's about ratings and TV revenue.

B-more suburbs is B-more county, Howard, Anne arundel, Hartford. 695 is just as jammed during rush hour as 495 and last pretty much just as long. They just have a bugger fanbase because of the hype machine and being attractive to southerners before expansion.

Steelers are considered a large market for football and its surrounded my mountains and water. I don't think population matters...

If Peyton manning was on the Ravens...pretty sure we'd get more headlines and be considered large market. Market size is "hype" in my opinion.

Old school colts fans...I was born in 86 and it seemed like Johnny Unitas was an American favorite and was Americas QB before Broadway Joe, 70s steelers and 70s cowboys.

Market size is real with Baltimore. The Ravens are boxed in by its bigger neighbors to the north and south in D.C. and Philly (which includes Cecil County and Delaware). Its also boxed in by Pittsburgh to the west, including Western Maryland.

I don't care when we beat them, just so long as we do. Other people can have the glory of national tv just do long as we get the win. They can pay at Santa's house at 3 in the morning if the result is a win. I think fans put to much into when they play. There are internet streams to watch it on, and I like our announcers better anyway.

Sadly this is just as plausible as flexing for the ratings. And his salad dressing sucks.
