The Return of Dennis Pitta

That was the point of my post about the "instant chemistry". I believe that those 2 cats have a unique bond that transcends the game of football and it shows up on the field.

They went to Vegas together with Heap awhile back. Who knows what unspeakable things they did over there! :D

I cannot agree with you more...  These guys just have it.  And him not being around had definitely left a blindspot in Joe's field of vision.  He's gonna be HUGE!...  Pitta is Joe's Gronk.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.  But if Heap also went, it was probably uneventful. Unless ofcourse they ditched him.

He probably fell right after he got out of the taxi and had to go back home.

It is too! Don't go breaking my heart like this. The idea of him leaving is too much to handle.

They'll resign him.  If not Joe will go ape .... on the FO.  Its his guy, the only guy he really trusts to make a big catch for him in traffic.  On top of that its also his best friend.  Alone that means nothing, but when the guy is a chain moving machine and your #2 receiving threat at TE, you don't let him walk.

Most likely went to play golf. :-)

For those that don't know, Pitta and Heap are in-laws. Joe has been close with both of them.

And seriously think about it, can you picture any of them getting wild in Vegas? Maybe they ordered chocolate milkshakes instead of vanilla.

Considering Pitta and Heaps are active Mormons my guess is not much. Might as well have invited Ngata and Kruger to make it "Flacco and the Mormons take Vegas"... Which would probably be a buffet, a roller coaster ride, and then to bed.

No kidding. I think the FO realizes that Pitta is an essential part of this team and probably our most dangerous weapon at the moment.

Patriot fans are currently talking about their chances of signing Pitta in the offseason.

If that happened - it would be impossible to measure my fury.

Pitta won't even hit the open market for another team to have a chance to sign him.  Book it.

Oh God. Having Pitta leave... Not good... :p

I can take Boldin, but not Pitta.

Who are we left with? Dallas "I'm gonna throw the game for my boy Peyton" Clark or Ed "flip a coin to see if I'll catch it" Dickson? Not Billy "drop me cut me drop me cut me I'm now dizzy" Bajema!?!?!?!

Pitta NEEDS to be locked up. He's probably the most Clutch Player on offense right now not named Joe Flacco. 4th and Goal with the season on the Line, if that pass is to Dickson, It's probably getting jarred out or flat out dropped. This team has finally found it's identity, Work the middle with your slot machines in Marlon and Pitta, Go for the Big Play with Torrey and JJ, and get Ray Rice and BP going late in the game. I'm excited.

To be fair, that's a lot of excitement for that group! Add in a round of golf and they probably needed days to recover. :)

Way to lay out for a clutch pass reception, Dennis!  Giving up your body for the team speaks volumes after all you've been through this year. Also, taking one for the team on an atrocious no-call on a vicious hit out of bounds was equally deserving of props to you and a protest to the league on the poor officiating ALL DAY Adrian Peterson was complaining about. I'll bet the ice bath and soaking hydro-therapy whirlpool tubs feel good this week.  It would be hard to decide who is most deserving of a game ball but the courage you demonstrated was certainly deserving of the game ball. Kudos for playing like a Raven!

Oh the irony of this thread and a thread reflecting on the one year anniversary of Cam being canned. Cam being fired opened up our offense and showed it's true potential. With Pitta injured, it felt like we were being handcuffed offensively and now that Pitta is back, handcuffs are off and our offense is going to once again show it's true potential.

Pitta returning from injury is our 2013 edition of Firing Cam.

Then we rampage the Patriots board in all out assault of trolling until they're forced to shut the website down.

Or we can just package some of our "elite" ones with a server redirect lol

I'm sure this has already been stated, but Pitta will open up our offense so much. Typically when you think of a guy opening things up, you think of your speed guys in Torrey and Coby, but what Pitta brings is a bonafide threat inside that defenses have to respect. Clark and Dickson just didn't provide that.

Now what that does is open things up for guys like Brown and Rice underneath the defense because so much focus will be on Pitta, especially on 3rd downs and crucial moment because everyone knows that's Flacco's go to guy. So now with Pitta getting that attention from the LBs and Safeties, the middle of the field will be open again for slants, rubs, deep ins, and crosses. We were running these routes earlier in the season but was forced to go away from them because neither Clark or Dickson had a commanding presence in the middle of the field.

That move TE is so important to our offense, because it allows us to keep drives extended. We're a big play offense, but without that consistent force to extend drives, we often look hit or miss. It's funny to think that the return of a TE could be the answer to the entire offense playing better, but I think we'll see an improvement in both the pass and run game because of Pitta's impact. We're gonna see Flacco's sack totals go down because of the return of Pitta. We're gonna see an improvement in the redzone because of Pitta, yac/rac yards will go up because of Pitta's impact. We are really gonna see what this offense was meant to be, it started in the 4th quarter of the Vikings game and I feel strongly that it'll continue with out best offensive game against the Lions.

We need to start a thread of how much Pitta means to RavensNation then send out the link to everybody you know so that it gets attention and recognition from the media. Pitta will then see it and he will never leave this team. I'm sorry about being so nervous about Pitta leaving next season when this one hasn't ended, but ever since Boldin left, I'm scared that no matter how well a player plays in a given season that won't matter in the offseason with this team and Pitta is way too awesome. I was numb when I found out the 49ers trade for Boldin, especially when it was for only a 5th round pick or whatever it was, I can't get that feeling this offseason too. PLEASE DON'T LEAVE PITTA, MAN YOU NEED TO BE A RAVEN FOR LIFE.

Pitta was the missing piece. He opens up space, is reliable, and makes us less predictable.

Before, whether we had Dickson or Clark in usually dictated the play call. Clark was in on a higher percentage of passing plays and Dickson more on running plays. It wasn't that black and white but it did show a tendency. Pitta can go either way, hes a decent blocker and great pass catcher.

He also makes 2 TE sets much more effective. He's going to help our 3rd down and red zone efficiency. He creates mismatches over the middle. He is just so crucial to what we do. Without him they can just sit overtop our deep threats bc we didn't have anyone to consistently make them pay over the middle.

Marlon Brown will now be a key guy for us as he gets more favorable matchups with Pitta in. I don't think you can really quantify how big Pitta is for our offense. And it will only get better.

We're about to go on a run.

Pitta is a priority and a part of the long term future of this team, Boldin wasn't. Pitta and Monroe should be top priorities followed by Art then JJ, but that's another thread.

Almost my exact thoughts. Pitta is huge.

As far as about to go on a run, we're already on a run. 3 straight and working on 4. That Vikings win was some special and it's the type of win that highlighted as the reason a team went on to win the Super Bowl(4th and 29, Mile High), but much like the firing of Cam and shakeup to the oline was what pushed this team over the top last year, it'll be the return of Dennis Pitta this year.

Since the dust settled we can revisit this....

All year we heard that the reason Flacco's numbers were bad was because of no one to work the middle of the field.. Uh ..yeah...uhuh <eye roll>

Well since the savior came back the quarterback ratings for all four games were as follows.

64.2

70.3

56.9

49.8

It's safe to say Flacco played worse with Pitta than without.   Another excuse put to bed !

look, im not the biggest flacco fan. I think he is a system player who must have weapons to be succesful. he is grossly overpaid and he is more about HIM than he is this organization. The problem I have is that flacco clearly overrates himself. He cannot think that he can take such a massive amount of money which could have been used to MAKE HIM PLAY BETTER and think he himself is good enough to make this team successful. He isnt an elite QB and never will be.. BUT with the right weapons and solid all round team he does have the clutch gene and big play ability.

His agent Joe linta is a legendary piece of work. It says a lot about flacco that he is his agent.
