The vent thread - Vikings game

No, but that's what the safety position is designed for. The safety position was invented to be a safety net to stop anything that got passed the other defenders. Hence the name "safety." Come on buddy!

Most teams have one safety deep and the strong hovering around the LOS, not both

Players have bad games, your saying it would be smart to keep a struggling player in the game merely because he is starter?

Nine times out of ten the starter is better than what's behind him. Just common sense.

That's also incorrect. What do you think cover two and 2 man under mean?

I'm done. Go play Madden or whatever kids use to learn about football schemes.

Tell me how. By the safeties missing tackles and Webb giving the receivers separation all game long? :D

Pees dictating how aggressive/physical players play in coverage, organizing techniques in coaching, etc

If a player can't tackle by the time he reaches the NFL, it's not the DC's fault, it's on the player.

That's true but we have guys that are established tacklers. We aren't doing anything right in the 4th quarter and giving up big plays.

Part of it is inexperience, part of its coaching.

Pees is too friggin soft.

I may be overreacting here(I'm just pissed at the piss poor play), but I've seen us do better with talent close to what we have.

It's just frustrating

No that is not incorrect, watch football games, on most plays the SS hovers around the LOS while the FS is back

Why would he let Jimmy play press but force Webb to play off, then? Lots of holes in this argument.

Just wish the Ravens wouldn't give us heart-attacks every week. This is getting......unhealthy.

That's why I don't eat breakfast on Sundays lol

Not when the current set has been struggling as bad as they were

Shake up the looks, player substitutions, that's what it's for

Uh, yes.  If a team pulled a guy every time he had a gaffe, every team in the league would be picking up guys off the street literally in their home town to fill out their roster.  Players make mistakes.  That's gonna happen but a guy is a starter because his mistakes are far fewer than those lower on the totem pole.  Sometimes, you have no choice but to start a guy for depth and salary cap reasons, a la Michael Oher aka False Starter Extraordinaire.  For the most part though, yes.  Your original point has been debunked, you have no idea what you're even arguing for and neither do I.  The fact is that Pees has done a good job and the D messed up big time in this game of their OWN accord; it wasn't the play calls that nearly lost us the game.

Wouldn't it be better if he played 4 quarters and put the game out of reach?

It would be better for my nerves, but a win is a win. People like to compare QBs, but it's actually pretty useless. Different QBs are successfull for different reasons.

Joe is erratic throughout the season, he has always been like that. However, he also is making the plays to win us the games in the end and that's nothing new either.

I take that, because that's how the Ravens got to the playoffs 5 seasons in a row, to AFCCG 3 times and won a SB.

My argument has stayed the same

I never mentioned schemes actually

I just said Pees needs more versatility in his player personnel and play calling

Not too extreme

I sure would like to think so!   It would be nice to re-watch it without the heart flutters and a bottle of Tylenol in hand! lol

Okay.  So, what would you suggest?  Who would you put in for Elam?  Thompson?  Who would you, 'shake it up' with?

The defense can't close games out.  The main reason BAL has struggled so much against the NFC North this year.

The thing is though, they play decent throughout the game. This tells me it has to be a change in zone, scheme, personnel or simply the cushion Pees is telling them to give.

Well if we're going with the same play call
In all honesty I'd like to see Omar brown there, but he is on the PS. But here's the thing, how would I know? I'm not the coach who sees these guys practice everyday, and thus understand who'd execute best with that call. Pees has to get that. A lot of the mistake on that play was the inexperience which is an issue

Let me make my point as simple as possible
What I don't like about pees is when the game comes down to the wire pees likes to go with the passive "bend down break" calls which have proven to be ineffective

And if it is effective, clearly the personnel they use when calling the play can't execute it effectively

Havent read all this but I would just totally scrap prevent defense. We dominate for the majoirty of the game then prevent and they score. Every week.

AD is mad. Vikings jelly purple.

I like AD, but he should get over himself. He is way overpaid for the position he plays. That hurts his team far more than any officials could.

They inevitably break down in the final minutes, though.  They gave up a game-winning drive to GB in the final minute of the game, then they give up 2 TD today in the final 2 minutes of the game to a team w/o its QB or RB.

Man, our defense is plain and simply NOT CLUTCH at all this season.

People put the blame on the offense, which is somewhat deserved, but really the defense should be getting the lion's share of  responsibility when they've been letting up 4th quarter game-winning drives like it was nothing for the past season.

Also I hope other teams also see Dean Pees as a bad coach like you guys do. Maybe we can keep a defensive coordinator for a few more seasons now.   :D

Wow talking about bad officiating & the worst fan base I've ever experience! They threw snow balls the entire 4q like lil kids. Smh

That's odd because I heard the announcers say that he wasn't even in the stadium anymore by the 4th quarter.

Yes I know they break down, believe I have the gray hairs to prove I know this! lol  I just think given their play throughout the other 3 quarters, it has to be something other than pure execution.

I dunno Polish.........AP is the one guy who probably isn't overpaid for playing running back.
