Next up: The Detroit Lions

Here's hoping BAL breaks even against the NFC North next week!  The keys to stopping DET:

Double and Triple Coverage on Megatron- force Stafford to try to win w/ his ugly geese: Burleson, Durham, Pettigrew, Fauria aren't world beaters by any stretch.

Learn from the Matchups against Lacy and Gerhart: DET has a lethal 1-2 punch in Bush and Bell.  BAL must be able to slow them down.  Bush hasn't played in 2 weeks, so he'll be well rested, too.

Have Flacco Distribute the Ball: BAL isn't going to be able to run against the Suh Crew, so Flacco's going to have to get creative, with short-yardage passes interspersed w/ bombs that will test the tenacity of DET's struggling secondary

O-line needs to Hold their Own: they can NOT let the Suh Crew whack around Flacco in the pocket, like they did w/ Flynn last week.

Going to be TOUGH on our defense, maybe the toughest matchup since week 1 against Denver. Megatron is pretty much unstoppable and Reggie Bush and Joique Bell are 2 versatile and dangerous RBs.

And with our offense who knows what direction this game will go...Id say the Lions are very much favored but who knows after todays crazy performance.

Finally playing on a field without rain, snow, wind, etc will be a true test of how far along our team is . The Bears and Vikes game weather just leveled the playing field against two inferior opponents . In good weather we beat both of these teams handily .

We should just bench Elam now...but talk about a career making game for Jimmy Smith if he can shut down Megatron a little

Elam was a complete waste of a 1st round pick. He's terrible in coverage.

Im more afraid of this game then I am of the Patriots and Bengals

Yeah I'm the same.

Not to say I think the Pats are less dangerous or whatever, just based on how we play these sorts of teams, and our current play and personnel, have me a bit more scared than them.

Elam was a complete waste of a 1st round pick. He's terrible in coverage.

And he can't tackle...

Why is everyone so quick to deem Elam a bust, he's a rookie going through growing pains seriously c'mon. People were the exact same Jimmy Smith now they are singing his praises, just as Jimmy needed his time to come into himself Matt does also so give him it.

I would usually love this.  I think it can really showcase our downfield ability, but then again, I am worried about our O-Line against that front 7.

I am seriously worried about the interior of our o-line holding up against the Lions big powerful defensive front. This does not bode well for our poor run game and I worry if Joe will have time to find an open receiver.

The Lions need this win as bad as we do. They are a few games back in the wildcard race and will probably need to win the NFC North and the Packers and the Bears are breathing down their necks.

I'm not sure if you like stirring controversy, or if you really do not realize that prior to this game, he had been targeted like 26 times, which for a safety playing out of place, is good.

NEED TO FIND OUR MISSING PASS RUSH!!! Yes, I am yelling here. Cant give Stafford time to just toss jump balls to that machine that is on the other end.

Stop yelling at us!

I doubt we find it this game.  Stafford has only been sacked 15 times I believe.  That would probably be the lowest for anyone who's started every game this season.  His O-Line has played well and he's getting the ball out quicker.

Best bet is try to contain Calvin first.

Perhaps, and this is a S-T-R-E-T-C-H, perhaps ole' "Magic" Juan can earn his cash for once by coaching, er, coordinating a run game plan that doesn't 1) challenge the strength/power of the Lion's interior line or 2) think that a ZBS will allow our backs to elude their pursuit. Here's to some misdirection, counters, traps, screens, anything besides dives, powers, and the sideline waltz we know as ZBS, puhlease!!!  b)
