Calvin Johnson vs our safeties = nightmare.

We should just bench Elam now...but talk about a career making game for Jimmy Smith if he can shut down Megatron a little

Jimmy's gonna have to follow Johnson around. I'm not sure I trust Webb 100%.

Webb was off his game big time today. Jennings was open on several occasions. I'd definitely put Jimmy on Calvin.

Man, if we play like this today, then we will lose.

But, give Joe a chance to win, then we're not out of it. But yeah, I'd rather it not to have to come to that. We take care of this game, then we make things easier for us.

IMHO we need to have the running game on point so as to keep 81 off the field...I am encouraged by McCoys 200+ effort today against them and a decent effort today by both 27 and 30 BUT we know how difficult it has been to show consistency in this area all year. Here's to an anti-climatic game next week!

How to Beat Detriot:

Stafford and Johnson are gonna get their yards. Nothing you can do about that. Too many teams focus on that aspect when playing Detriot.

If you can shut down Reggie Bush and Joque Bell and force them to throw all game then Stafford will have a multiple interception game.( Maybe even 3-4)

We need to bracket that beast of a man and keep Reggie Bush contained.  That's about it on the defensive side of the ball.  As for the offense, we're just gonna have to man up and smash that front four of Detroit in the mouth.  No other way about it because they are men and they are gonna eat our lunch if we don't do something.  I think Caldwell really needs to just dial up every slant, hitch and bubble screen he can think of and let Joe go nuts because we're not running into that front four with success.

Yeah, that's all for the defense. It's so easy. Can't believe other teams aren't doing it, too.

  Well I'm not a defensive coordinator, but that's what I would be worried about.  Thanks for your input!  I also didn't say it would be easy.

Probably.  I gotta hope though, right?  Is this NOT the thread to talk about the Ravens/Lions game coming up or am I confused?

I honestly think the Ravens are going to have to do something a lot more creative than that. i wouldn't be surprised if the Ravens used two players to jam Megatron at the line of scrimmage, much like two gunners on punt return coverage.

As for Bush, Daryl Smith is the best coverage linebacker in the NFL according to PFF. I'm not entirely worried about that.

A little more creative than what?  Stopping Megatron and containing Bush?  Isn't that what you just outlined in this post and what I said a few posts above?  I didn't lay out any specific strategem, just said we needed to stop those guys.  What am I missing?

The Lions can be beat. They are 7/6. That means that 6 times this season a team beat them. As hot as Joe is I believe that after we play them that will by 7/7. We can do this. Go Ravens!!

Have we had a nice weather game this year?

I remember delays, crazy wind, rain, snow, ice lol

Flacco is probably like "thank heavens! a Dome!"

They got a little spanking today, but they are a dome team and I am sure weather was a factor. I hope Doom heals up and can go, we will need a good pass rush.

we gonna have to put 2 CBs on megatron, our offense gonna have to do better than today, i know we can run it, can we just throw it underneath to rice and pierce as an alternative to our run game, like andy reid used to do in philly.

Oh, oh.  Okay.   :)

The weapons outside of Megatron are seriously lacking, so I would imagine the Ravens could dedicate two cornerbacks to covering him if that ever became an idea in the organization.

Honestly, this game is FAAAAR from an easy win. Detroit in their house, their DL over ours; our apss pro + lack of a running game (albeit slowly improving). Megatron against our DBs. And our seemingly lack of a pass rush all of a sudden.

Man, o man, I'm STILL going nuts in that playoff machine going through scenarios. :(
