I can't believe the Saints got my second vote. Shows just how much of a lifetime ago this poll was made, but what was I thinking?

No shame there my friend. I honestly didn't know then or don't know now which team will come-out on top. Everyone of those Super Bowl winners had a great argument including the Saints. The narrative seems to change every new season. Not really sure what really happened to the Saints (outside of fake-crowd noise in Atlanta :268213: ), but I'm gaining more and more respect for the Ravens FO for keeping us competitive every year no matter what adversity or talent losses we've suffered.

The Saints seem to be a Bush/Sproles and a decent defense away from helping Brees get back to the 'promised land'. On the other hand, the Ravens have made the right moves for sustainable growth. I'm looking forward to the 2015 season. I believe anything can happen, but we're still in the conversation.

Thanks. Totally agree with our opinions regarding "If 2010-11 seasons were taken-off our winning percentage." and the Hawks showing more winning percentage growth recently. That could change everything. Currently, the Ravens lead them in both season and playoff winning percentage. If they continue as they have in the last 3 years they will most likely surpass or seriously challenge us.

That said, I tend to believe that they will somewhat take a dip in wins this season.

2 Considerations:

  • Russell Wilson's projected 'BIG' payday (most new franchise QB contracts come with wins declining that year)
  • Their 2015 schedule (A run-first scheme with limited passing plays into AFCN teams' strengths).

History shows that they may not even make the playoffs. Not saying that 'history' is always right, though. Vegas has them pretty high to make it back to the SB. Kap is studying to improve his game with Kurt Warner this off-season. I'm sure (like the Ravens) he also wants to prove 'history' right and Vegas wrong in 2015. In conference and out-of-conference could have a big impact on winning percentages overall.

My thought is the same as I've predicted 3 seasons ago: The Ravens win another SB between 2013-2016. I don't know who will be the 'next new dynasty', but we're still in the conversation. We win another and we change the narrative.

Oh, the only reason that I haven't mentioned the Patriots as a consideration for 'new' is because they've been around too long to suddenly be put into the 'new/up-and-coming' theme. Brady's 37 and Bilicheck is near retirement.

tbh I don't think we will see a dynasty any time soon anymore.

the way contracts went up while the cap did not follow suit , its very hard to keep a team together.

you need a franchise QB and then get lucky with a few drafts in a row to have a shot at becoming 1.

right now the ravens are competitive due to the way the team is build and is kept being build.

if ozzie keeps doing what he is doing we will be fine.

if he starts to listen to all the crazy ideas most fans seem to have we are doomed lol

hawks won 3 divisional titles in the past 5 years and went to 2 SBs losing 1

ravens won 2 divisional titles in the past 5 years and only made it to 1 SB and 1 time lost in the conference championship.

so in the past 5 years they did better if your goal is to reach and win the SB lol.

2 SB appearences are better then 1.

now if you want to argue a dynasty in the making then its clearly the hawks as they have been to back to back SB in the last 2 years , are still young and core players are still under contract.

Dynasties get to the SB and also win the SB in a short time span.

So far the hawks have the edge on us.

also your stats show the hawks are getting better while the ravens where on the decline with 2013 the low point and 2014 an improvement but not on the level of the hawks.

if based on the stats you posted we advance 2 years it will be nowhere to being close.

TBH id trade those 2 more wins we have in the regular at the moment for a chance at winning the SB in a heartbeat lol.

its only close if you lessen the value of actually making the SB.

:plus-un2:  .....thank you.

Next Dynasty Update

Apparently the Ravens next 'Dynasty' talk travels well beyond the bonds of Baltimore Fans. We are still a part of narrative nationally and within our front office. 2015 is looking very promising. Just knowing we're this close should make any fan just want to fast-forward to the next game. I know I do.

Why Having an 'Elite' Ravens Front Office Translates to Winning Super Bowls, Winning Percentages and Sales/Value/Popularity.

One of the most important aspects of building a great dynasty has always been the organization beyond the players on the field. Players get incredible accolades for winning and overt criticism for losing while the team behind the curtain are the true architects of success or failure. True, players have to play the game, but the FO has to plan 10 years ahead to give them the best opportunities to win year after year. Our Ravens 'think-tank' is celebrated throughout the league as the model of excellence and how it's done.

That's why so many teams with dreams of 'Dynasty' want to emulate us.

The Atlanta Falcons are just one of the teams who try to emulate our FO and fall embarrassedly short.

http://www.ajc.com/news/sports/falcons-new-look-front-office-not-ravens-model/njjXs/

Sports Illustrated and a host of leading sports writers and publications have ranked the Ravens FO as 'elite'.

http://russellstreetreport.com/2013/03/13/street-talk/si-ranks-ravens-front-office-as-best-in-nfl-so-calm-down/

With a top-notched FO like ours that skillfully crafts winning, relevant, potential playoff and Super Bowl caliber teams year after year is probably why we have no need to ever panic.

http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/baltimore-ravens-free-agency-no-time-to-panic-front-office-making-correct-moves-ozzie-newsome-eric-decosta-031313

Some folks keep asking us why we don't panic, second guess and/or berate our front office. For all the forum visitors from other fan bases, this is why you see: In Oz we trust. It's because it's like that.

In the cover 32 link, Ravens aren't even on his top 10 list.

That's why I found it so interesting. I know right? I posted that link just for objectivity purposes, but the article itself has a lot of problems in my honest opinion. Many of the teams ranked ahead of the Ravens are extremely questionable and the writer lacks in investigative, supported data. It's like it was assigned to a game tech writer whose never seen an actual football game in his life, watched one ESPN Dynasty Short that had 'Ravens' in the title and didn't finish the show. He wrote it so fast that he didn't realize that he had left-out the title team (Ravens).

Yet, he ranked the Broncos (QB near retirement), Colts and Eagles in the top 4. Really? That's why real stats and science needs to be put in the conversation.

Ravens Ranked Top NFL Team in Professional Franchise Breakdown

This type of science driven ranking may or may not determine how great franchises are built, but the top ten franchises (no NFL teams) seem to all be successful, long-term planning organizations.

http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=12349543&ex_cid=espnapi_public

I think that this will be more and more important as NFL teams build for the future. I'm proud that we rank amongst the best.

Ravens Ranked 2nd Best Coach/GM Duo in the NFL

Just another confirmation of why the Ravens are always in the conversation of 'Great Franchises' and a possible dynasty. It's got to make Ravens fans feel reassured to know that our FO has consistently ranked amongst the best for years now.

Here's the NFL Article that references this:

Agreed. You'll get no argument from me. I was just looking at a sports reporter's list of the Ravens Top 20 Games and it made me even more proud of being a fan for 20 years.

http://www.pressboxonline.com/2015/03/02/ravens20-baltimore-ravens-20-most-significant-games

There are games like the comeback win over the Vikings that I thought could have been there (Snow Bowl), but it's still a great list.

Ravens Front Office 20 Year Success?

Absolutely according to the numbers. It's enough to spoil any fanbase, but I'm just proud and ready for more.

“At the end of the day, compared to the other 31 NFL teams, with 10 post season appearances in 19 seasons and two Super Bowl trophies in two Super Bowl appearances, you can’t expect too much more..”

According to the latest NFL article we're on course to get that 2nd ring in the Harb Era and 3rd before we hit 25 years (20 hopefully).

I live in the Landover NFL teams territory and they still think I jumped on the bandwagon because they won.  I was there, at the House of 33rd street to see the first pre and regular season games, I have the program and ticket stub to prove it.  I went to games when Ted Marchibroda went 16-31-1, it took a few years to get rid of the old Browns deadwood, but we turned it around.  I wasn't there at the Jack Shack in Raljon to see them beat that team for the first time in its new home, but Bam Morris put a beat down on the Landover Losers 20-17 while fans took over their stadium.  If the Ravens have a bad season, I'll just buy the cheap tickets on StubHub or other secondary sites and go to more games.   I tell their fans to get rid of that owner and maybe they'll go to a Super Bowl without buying tickets.

If winning year after year, play offs or not has anything to do with, this math don't lie! It's the Raven's hands down! Every year we have reason to believe we will make the play offs. Not Divison champs, but an invitation to the dance and a chance! Sure, I am biased but facts are facts. The Raven organization just keep getting it done. Our coaching staff keeps getting raided, our players keep getting paid by other teams so we can't stay with in the cap, you name it, they want to be us! Still the next season, here we are again, not the favorite, but the team to fear! If we could keep everybody we would not have the room to put the Lombari"s at 1 Winning Drive to house the trophies! Happy Twenty to the class of the NFL, eternal love Modells (Art), Steve? Nuff said!!

First of all the question should be are they the best over the last 7 years, since that's when the Harbaugh/Flacco era began. And since 2008, the Ravens have been neck and neck with the Patriots for the best team. Both teams have won a Super Bowl, both teams have been perennial playoff contenders, and both teams have won 2 and lost 2 versus each other in the playoffs. Some might argue that because the Ravens missed the playoffs in 2013 and the Pats reached a 2nd Super Bowl in 2011, which they lost, that that gives them the slight edge over us. But the counter argument is that the AFC East has been a cupcake conference compared to the brutal AFC North and that the only season where the Ravens fell short of the playoffs was when Joe got hurt--would the Patriots have overcome a similar injury to Brady? Highly doubtful. And then there's the whole controversy surrounding the Patriots' questionable practices which in the minds of many diminishes their accomplishments, or at least puts a blemish on them.

Personally, I think it's a coin flip between the 2 franchises--perhaps this post-season, there will be a rubber match...where the Ravens will prevail?

Purple and Black Destiny?

from JO_75 post

The Ravens are only home twice (Week 3 against the Bengals and Week 5 against the Browns) through the month of October. It's the first time this has happened to Baltimore since 2000, when the Ravens overcame that brutal start and won the franchise's first Super Bowl.

http://espn.go.com/b...dule-analysis-2

from GrimCoconut post

The last time we wore a jersey patch (2012 Art Modell) we won a Super Bowl.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1510222-grading-the-49ers-and-ravens-special-super-bowl-uniforms

The last time we faced our worst cap space challenges (2011 offseason) we won a Super Bowl.

I'm thinking it's destiny. Ravens win SB 50 in 20th year celebration.

Agreed. The Pats could have been in that conversation with all the other teams that won Super Bowls when the tread started, but they finally won one 2 years later. The thread begun as a "Best Up and Coming 'NEW' franchise" discussion. Although the Pats got their 4th SB win (10 years to win 4th) it didn't seem that they should be in the conversation, today. If they win another in the next 3-4 seasons and continue to reach the playoffs consistantly - then of course they would be in the conversation.

We would have to create a new thread just for that. Hopefully, we would have our 3rd Super Bowl Championship (with 2 within a 5 year period) to make the debate more interesting. With no questionable rules scandals and/or violations in our history...I think we'll win hands down. Thanks for posting.

Some Redskin think I'm bandwagon, but I've been a fan since they unveiled the Ravens name.  Also have the program to the first game and a ticket stub.  Sat through the 16-31-1 Ted Marchibroada era.  Team started in the direction is still is now when Bilick was hired and Steve Biscotti came on board as a minority owner.
