Weather this weekend

22 posts in this topic

I hear that Baltimore will have ice or rain or snow etc this Sunday. So my question or comment is does that benefit or hurt us. The vikings have a great running game face 8 or 9 in the box and AP still dominates.

We don't have that type of running game this year. Plus the defense has had some lapses in stopping the run.

On to the passing game even if Flacco can make great throws it will extremely hard to catch the ball in those situations.

On a side note I am not in Baltimore so I really don't know how the weather is or going to be. Any thoughts.

It is.  He's saying it helps us b/c the Vikes aren't manly men like our team.   :D

Ahh gotcha.  I think AP transfers to any weather lol. Which, lets be honest, is 96% of what scares us about the Vikings.

We have a heated field with superior draining.
Field conditions will not be an issue.

Thought the game was in Baltimore?

Exactly!  The Ravens are not only battle tested but they are also weather tested.  Real men play outside!  lol!

According to weather.com, you guys are suppose to get intermittent snow. The rain/sleet stuff is not expected to get there till after 4:00 PM. But I do not think you can trust them. They said the low here where I live tonight was going to be 18. It is 8:00 PM and the temp is already at 14 so they could be wrong about the Baltimore forecast too.

I agree to that.  Domed stadiums are a joke.

Football is forever linked to the elements.  To take them out of the equation is lunacy.

Weather Bug said snow starting between 1:00 and 2:00.

Snow won't hinder us. Sometimes it even seems to insulate the cold when it snows a bit and the air doesn't seem so frigid. The real concern would be wind, but we have the strongest arm throwing and the strongest leg kicking, so hopefully we can tackle the strongest body running and force whoever they decide to disguise as an NFL QB to throw it downfield. We will capitalize on the mistakes that are sure to ensue in this scenario.

I think the real issue is for fans traveling to and from the game. I expect there will be some empty seats today. Picture this: thousands of fans have a few beers at the game then head out on icy roads. That's a scary image. Many of our fans come quite a distance for each game and may not want to risk it today.

Moderator  3 - My concern would be the idiots who think that after a few drinks and they can still drive and then injure others.

This is a huge advantage. Joe seems to be immune to bad weather. The Vikings do have plenty of experience playing in the cold when they go to Green Bay and Chicago every year. Still, playing mostly in domes, let's hope this gives us a big advantage today.

I think our fans are pretty good about not mixing too much alcohol with driving. There are remarkably few accidents after Ravens games. My concern is that 3 beers then driving in good weather does not equal 3 beers and driving on icy roads.

Yep. I am so excited for this game, because nothing is closer to godliness than football in the snow. True story

Agreed. I love watching football games with snow falling. I'd love to see snow in the Super Bowl this year.
