Purple Punishment

Let's hire Gary Kubiak?

To paraphrase Amy Winehouse, "I say no, no no!" He shackled Schaub by not letting him audible, similar to Cam. Not to mentipn the O-line was never his strong point.

I didn't like watching Kubiak go into panic mode last night and ditch the run while only down by ten points.  Sounds all too familiar.

If we are switching out coordinators, I'd like to see a fresh take. Houston fans have been bitching for years about Kube's playcalling and game plans.

No!  We are good with Caldwell!  This is his 1st full season as our O.C. and he's starting to get the hang of calling plays.

This is so untrue.  He utilized it because Arian Foster was a monster with the scheme and it fit the players.  It's not part of his philosophy.

Gary Kubiak hasn't been on a team without the ZBS since 1994.  Why are you so sure it's not part of his philosophy.

Oh let's not okay?

I mean, Caldwell certainly has his head scratching moments this season ( I am kind of still waiting for the playoff Caldwell to show up this season) but I think our offense is best served right now by some consistency in personnel. That includes players & coaches.

I'm gonna sound like a broken record here, but Caldwell is doing just fine. He doesn't look strong this year because the offense was hit was some unforeseen injuries that shook things up. Pitta, Jacoby and KO. Now because of that you have to work in new pieces and it's not just as easy as saying, ok next guy up.

This team needs to be built around The Flacco, 120, Smoking Joe or whatever you want to call him and that is exactly what Caldwell is starting to do. Flacco has had 3 QB coaches that he's really enjoyed and 2 of them only had 1-2 years with him. Caldwell and Joe have a great working relationship and as the most important guy of the offense it's important to have consistency around that position.

Caldwell wants this offense in his QBs hands and now that we are starting to get healthy, things will start clicking. Don't run this guy out of town.

"Consistency around the QB position"
Such a simple concept that it is easy to overlook. It is the main reason why making Pitta a top priority is so critical this off-season.

Actually Pitta is 1b for me but I agree. Monroe would be 1a. I've seen what Flacco can do with great time and average WRs to throw too, so getting that oline right comes first. But the Chemistry between Flacco and Smith/Pitta should be off the charts next year.

Isn't it crazy that almost a year ago Cameron was still calling the plays?.... "Anniversary" of his firing is the 10th, which also means it's been almost a year since Caldwell took over.

With our current personnel I think people should cut him some slack. Kubiak is not the answer to fixing our offense. There's really only a few things to do that....

1. Pitta
2. Add another receiving weapon
3. Consistent, good O-line play
4. Run the ball efficiently.

No particular order. After Pitta comes back hopefully we can fix at least one of those problems, ASAP.
