Wow... Chicago can comfortably let Jay Cutler walk as a free agent, re-sign McCown cheaper and have him be the starter in 2014. He deserves it.

Backup QBs have been making the NFL's veteran QBs look like chumps the last couple of weeks.

There's a benefit to the motivation of finally getting a(nother) chance to prove yourself and teams not knowing what to expect from you. And having Alshon Jeffery/Josh Gordon/Vincent Jackson/etc.

Firing Rob paid massive dividends for the Cowboys. This might be the worst defense I've seen in a while, meanwhile Ryan turned the Saints D, which was a historically bad unit into a top 10 D. Good going Jerry Jones. Best GM in the league!

Screw it.  Was going to reply but this forum is completely messed up when you edit a post with quotes in it. The quotes just disappear and grrrrrr.

Plz fix the forum admins.

I know, right? He looks like an overweight Fabio in this. XD

McCown is having himself a good game, but lets be honest here. Almost 500 yards of total offense allowed? You can't be serious! NO held down Carolina, a team that was on a roll, to 250 and ONE TD.

Last season Rob managed to coach a Dallas D, that lost HALF of it's players into being the 19th overall defense, which was a brilliant job done by him. I literally couldn't believe he got fired. The Cowboys are a joke!

The true test of a QB is to keep winning for more than 3-4 seasons. McCown might struggle a lot once the rest of the NFL gathered enough tape on him.

Cutler is still effective after giving NFL defensive coordinators 8 seasons worth of research material. Look at what happened to all those great young QBs from last year, who were supposed to light the league on fire. Only one of them is having a good season and he is on the most loaded team in the league.

I love how Romo just gives up. On the same set of downs he crawls on the ground to avoid a sack (not really) and throws a 4th down attempt 3 yards into the dirt.

Some guys have it, some guys don't.

Atrocious defense from Dallas, though.

WRs boxing out defenders, fighting for the ball, coming back to the QB... these are all things I want to see out of our guys. Chicago receivers are putting on a clinic on how to make yourself a target.

This is the most depressingly true comment ever.

They're comparing McCown to Rich Gannon.

Guess who was Gannon's QB coach when he revived his career in Oakland?

You guessed it, Marc Trestman.

Check the calender.

For the record, it's not Tony Romo's fault the Cowboys lost tonight.

Additionally, I don't think you can disregard all of the success Jerry Jones had earlier in his career.  He made the Cowboys arguably the biggest franchise in the league and they were dominant under his control in the 90s.  Not saying he's easy to work with, as he's forced out pretty much every coach he's ever hired.  He's certainly had trouble adjusting to the implementation of the salary cap.  There are some things to like though, he apparently is great to his players.  I don't think the Cowboys fail because of Jerry's lack of effort.  They would probably benefit if he reduced his role with the team and handed off control to someone else, but I don't see him doing that.

He was the GM at the time, he did the drafting, he did the signing.  If he's to blame for that now, he gets credit for it then.  And he did win another one without Jimmy Johnson.

Not according to Jimmy. He claims, that he did the drafting back then and many former players attest to Johnson's eye for talent. It would certainly explain how the Cowboys got so bad at evaluating talent once Johnson left.

And that Cowboys team, that won "without Jimmy Johnson" was still the team JImmy coached all the pieces he put together won that championship by themselves, that's how good Dallas was back then.

I just watched A Football Life: Jimmy Johnson and the way Jimmy explained it was Jerry handled the business side of things and Jerry let Jimmy handle the football stuff. Thus the real reason why they were so successful. If Jimmy ever wanted to leave FOX, he could make a good GM.

How bad is the Dallas Defense:

Dallas is allowing NFL-high 426.8 yards per game, and is 131 yards off pace set by 2012 Saints for most yards allowed in a single season.

Jerry is a good buisness guy. No doubt about it. People still care about the Cowboys, even when the team hasn't given them a good reason to for a long time. BUT, he is not Al Davis and he will never be.

I really don't like Dallas, but the friggin Iggles fans up here are driving me bonkers. Can't wait to see how quick they get slammed in the playoffs by a REAL defense ala Seattle or SF
