An upside to the Ravens offense

35 posts in this topic

The o-line took a big step forward against the Steelers. They were giving Joe time to throw those deep passes that required time to develop. They were also blocking better on running plays. They seem to be getting into sync and working as a unit. Not sure what is up with the run game. They are making some holes - I think Ray is just not hitting them fast enough before they get closed down again. I might be wrong about that but that is what it looks like to me.

Id be interested in seeing Rice's yards after contact and number of broken tackles this year. My hunch is that both are near if not career lows, and probably near the bottom of league among qualifying backs.

After watching the Broncos and Chiefs the past couple weeks, yes their line does get a good push and create holes.... but there are tons of plays that defenders are getting into the backfield and Charles and Moreno consistently make guys miss.

I've seen a bit of it from Pierce, but not enough. I cant remember the last time I saw Rice break a tackle.

I have also seen the upside. But we're still settling for FGs too often. Though at least we're getting in FG range - baby steps I guess.

Yea I have to admit I loved the Stokley signing when it first happened for just this reason. But then once Doss started to perform a bit, I thought maybe Stokley would be cut and because of the injuries I didn't have a issue with it.

But this guy could be so huge for us going forward and if PItta can come back even close to what he was last year, those two guys will be difference makers in the playoffs imo.

Not sure what has happened to Doss and Brown. I thought Brown was really starting to turn it on, but it seems the rookie wall has caught up to him and understandably so. He's not even accustom to playing a full college season because of his injury history, so I can see how he's be slowing down.

Doss seems like he's having confidence issues again. This is the time when the team needs him the most because with both Torrey and Coby getting the deep game working, we need someone who can stabilize the offense with controlling the middle of the field, but he's too inconsistent to be "that guy", right now.

Last year the offense really clicked when we made those changes to the oline. I think getting both Stokley and Pitta back as close to 100% as possible will be what gets this offense clicking heading to the playoffs this year.

I think Doss's biggest problem is Jones and Brown are takings snaps from him... thats not necessarily a bad thing for the team becuase Jones is a playmaker but but it hurts the rhythm of the game. Plus once Joe gets locked in on one guy he tends to forget other guys hence why he sometimes forces balls into coverage when someone else is open.

Doss still has to maximize his opportunities when on the field. It's not his snap count that I'm talking about. It's the lapse in focus I see when he's on the field. I'm not saying he's completely gone away and I agree that his snaps are limited, but so are Stokley's and when the ball is thrown to him he makes plays. He just has to stay healthy. Since the Cincy game I've noticed Doss' focus not appear to be as sharp as earlier in the season. Of course that's just my view. But he wasn't attacking Punts like he was before, which is another reason beside the fact that Jacoby is a beast, that Doss hasn't had as many opportunities. He's had a couple of drops and has run some lazy routes when the ball wasn't intended to come his way.

We can actually get back to our 2 TE set.  I love that!

I've missed our 2 TE sets.  They had another dimension to the running and passing game.
