Interesting statistical notes from the Steelers game

14 posts in this topic

  1. This was the first Ravens/Steelers game in history with zero turnovers from either team.
  2. This was the narrowest margin of victory the Ravens have ever had over the Steelers.
  3. This was the 2nd narrowest scoring margin in series history (Steelers beat the Ravens 8-7 on Halloween 2005).
  4. There was a margin of only 18 yards between the two teams' offensive totals (the lowest ever was our first game against them earlier this year, where we have just 1 yard difference).
  5. This year during both meetings, Roethlisberger and Flacco both had 90+ QB Ratings.  These are the only two meetings in series history where each QB met that mark.

Over the last two games against them, we've only had 14 non-kneeldown drives. They've had 15, and the ball at the end of both games, which is why they had such a good chance of winning both games. It's a huge benefit to be able to know for certain how many points you need and play 4 downs on your last possession (with enough time left to still run the ball).

The Ravens only punted 4 times in those two games and Pittsburgh punted 5 times.

Another tid bit.
There was a 04 second differential in the TOP.

Steelers had the ball for 30.04 to our 29:56.

Another tidbit:

This is the second time, dating back to just last year, that Tomlin (within our own Stadium might I add), disrespected us.

Last year when they managed to beat us at home and his complete lack of sportsmanlike conduct at the end, and I need not remind everyone of what just happened last night.

i don't know where you got your stat for number three, but the score in that game was 20-19. I mean come on. an 8-7 game?

Yup. I was at that game. It was a Monday night game and I woke up that morning to tickets and a note taped to the bathroom mirror from my then girlfriend (now wife for obvious reasons). "Take off work, we're headed to Pittsburgh".

Interesting that before that game, Steeler fans (at my website) agreed it would be a close game & therefore we would need all the help we could get.  Tomlin has actually done that block before & has coached it into assistants in the past.  We assumed the Steelers will never have to lose a draft pick regardless, & Tomlin can afford a fine, & even if Tomlin gets suspended, our defensive coordinator & offensive coordinator are veteran coaches who run the Steelers anyway.  We've had much fun bashing the Ravens about Tomlin blocking Jacoby Jones, it was worth whatever fine to Tomlin if we (Steelers) would have won..  Tomlin is our hero!
