Maybe he was thinking the Steelers were only in the league 35 years because they were losers for the first 40 years.... :D
I once got a hangnail after using a Ravens fan's nailclippers and will forever hate your team for it! :P

It doesn't take a football genius to know the Steelers have been around longer than 35 years. If me pointing that out makes you feel inferior I'm sorry.
I was not talking about that. I don't give 2 ****s and a fart about how the steelers have been around for 75+ years. But you do have to admit that bringing up history as an argument about how your team is better is futile here. The Ravens only have been around for about 13 years.

I'm not saying you were, but a lot of Steeler faithful bring that up and it's extremely annoying.

I don't want to go down the history road either.. I feel it's pointless to bring up to opposing fans. I was just poking fun at a dumb comment made.

I do think the Ravens built off of our mold but that's just because it's the real strat.. the one that means real football. Nasty D and pound the ball is what I like to see. I think this thread, and bunch of others I'm reading here are funny stuff. Why? Because I actually respect your team (even though the fans I've met in RL have been complete tools). Doesn't matter.. you have a team that plays real football and they're aren't many like us.

I enjoy that you're in our division. It keeps us fresh and on our toes. Plus I know most of the teams on our schedules look at our dates and think.. CRAP! We definitely soften up some teams for each other. The Cowgirls are crapping their pants thinking about playing you after what we did to them. :P
Corneal abrasion? Are you for real?

Squirt some Windex on it you'll be alright!

@ TheRavenouse.. people in PA don't hate Maryland. It's like an hour and half away from Pittsburgh. Baltimore is about like driving to Cleveland from here. I don't know of a single person who hates Maryland or Baltimore in fact I think of them as being very similar to here. Same size and tough attitudes.

I do dislike your team. Why? Because they think their us. Damn Marvin Lewis stealing our blueprints and driving them south. Is it any coincidence he was our linebacker coach up to 96 with greats like Lloyd, Greene, Kirkland.. then shuttles of to start up with a Ray Lewis to roll defense with?

The best part about why Ravens fans really hate the Steelers.. because we're big brother. We are you only we invented you. You roll in our shadow in OUR division always trying to be just like big bro. You're team tries damn hard.. damn hard for sure, I respect them big time (well, now that momo Billick is gone at least). The Ravens have a long way to go before they're like big bro though.

Steelers only in existance for 35 years? The freaking game we played YOU in last year marked our 75th anniversery. Don't you remember Bradshaw on the sidelines and all the other greats at the game?

Here.. here's a clip to help you out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFuFTwLaufE
What the hell are you talking about " you're our big brother"? Please explain your statement that you invented us. That's total BS. Go back to the Squeelers board, your erronious comments are not welcome here

Total BS eh? Let's see..

The Ravens, enept in their former city, scuttled off to B-more for a fresh start (AKA more money - there's a team I want to be behind as a fan rofl). To start this new team on better footing than where they left Cleveland.. they bring in a few new coaches, one of which is DC Marvin Lewis, hand picked right from the Steelers (their #1 rival). People often wonder about what team tidbits leak out when a player hops teams.. not hard to think that's a bit worse with coaches.

Marchibroda didn't know what was going on for defense.. on that side of the ball they looked at Marvin. He learned from the team that wrote the book. Not only did he coach here.. he grew up here too. You were a blank slate in 96.. you needed an identity and looked to mold off ours.

With their 1st draft, who does this new Purple and Black team look to take in round #1? Mr. Ray Lewis.. a hard nosed ILB from the U to become the pilar of their team. Marvin knew what it took to build a playoff team. Dominant D from his time on the Steelers. Let's face it.. Marchibroda was just buying time before his inevitable exit. It took a few years to get it going with some more players added in, but sure enough that 3-4 hybrid with zone blitz led the way. It's a freaking shame that Marvin's stuck on that crap Bengals team now.. the man is a talented coach.

Next up was the pounding ground game with Jamaal Lewis.. your Bettis substitute! Was that the best your new coach Billick.. the Offensive guru.. could come up with? Sure why not.. all he needed to do was look 2 hours north to see pounding the ball worked in the playoffs. Guess Holmes wasn't quite brutish enough for this division? Anyway, they got the power back and ran him to the ground for a championship.. thank the Steelers for showing you how that's done. The Ravens had fully become the Pittsburgh Steelers with ugly purple smeared all over their unis! You ran through us to get that trophy so much respect there.

It's a copy cat league and people follow winning what can I say.

so i guess that any coach we aquire from another team we copy and if in fact that is the case then the whole league copys off each other. durning the brian era we were trying to be like the vikings correct? oh yea thats right its only copying if we have success then you can leach and feed off our success to try and add with yours.

Hey hey hey. I aint going to watch the game if the Steelers are going to make out with eachother or try to "Beat off Defenders" on the field. What you all do in the locker room is yalls business. Keep it off the field ;)

hey now the steelers need to know we keep it family here , children might read this. no talking about the things that they think recievers need to do to replace stickem, or that thier recievers need to be like thier old QB slash . sorry its bad when no center will deal with a QB based off of one arrest .

Here's a good read on the Ravens - Steelers rivalry, which ESPN is somehow all over this week.

Our first draft pick was actually Jon Ogden instead of Lawrence Phillips, a RB out of Nebraska because Jon was the next best player and we wanted a good passing game, then we took Lewis because it's nice to have a defense (which was NOT good the first few years, but our offense put up serious points.), but I don't think anyone except maybe Oz and Eric Decosta knew what they would turn out to be. A good passing game complimented by a good runner and a good defense. Wow! You're right!! Only after studying the Steelers for centuries could we finally come up with that brilliant equation. Do you want to take credit for the AFC North Title we won in 2006, no, how about our Super Bowl XXXV Chamionship? (By the way, Jamal was a bruising speedster who could find the endzone at any time, Bettis was lucky to break for a whopping 9 yrd run.) We tried to copy off what you guys were doing that Super Bowl night, but wait, you were sitting at home crying, wishing it was you in Tampa Bay. We have tried to do the opposite of what you guys do our entire history. You try to suck, cheat, and play dirty. We just do the opposite. We show class, heart, determination, and respect to our opponents. We were the old Colts reborn, but sadly without our Unitas (hopefully we have finally found him). Someone could make the argument you modeled yourselves off of the old Baltimore Colts but why would we even care to compare you to ourselves. We are much better than that!!!

Is there any other rivalry that is regularly as competitive and indicative of what December football should be?

I don't know why they wouldn't make this the Sunday night game. Why the Redskins Ravens? This is where its at.

I read an article this morning about the game, and got goosebumps. Not because its a great article, because I'm pumped for the game.

Nope, It's the game I most look forward too, and the one I most dread. Is that even possible? LOL. The older I get the more I hate close games that take a winning drive to win it. Ben needs to win this game in the 3rd.

Good luck , 5 sacks last week against the number 7 Cowboys, you line is about as cohesive as a toilet paper fishing net, we may see ngata get a td yet I tink it will be a fumble recovery and wanna know who fumbles it Ben , I also predict in the third we will see Ward get lit up like a ravens christmas tree by not ray or suggs but by scott he wont be smiling after that hit then it will be all over. my predictions - 3 ints 2 fumbles for the steelers O, one fumble by ben and one by ward. its christmas in baltimore I smell 2nd seed for us

Let's not get too overconfident about their sack problem. The Eagles had 9 sacks the game before us earlier in the season, then we came in and got 3 (That was even without Marvel Smith). The Steelers actually outsacked us that game, they had 5. Most of the people on here were predicting 7-10 sacks, based on what the Eagles did.

The one positive for our O Line is usually the game after a poor performance they usually do pretty good. They will have to play top shelf football against the Ravens. I really do not think it will be a repeat of 06 when they got Ben 9 times. At least I'm hoping not. Willie Colon needs to be on point.

That's partially because the Redskins & Bengals Pass rush is non-existent. Redskins haven't been able to get to any quarterbacks in weeks. We did do well against the Eagles however. But the Steelers will get pressure on Flacco. Just like we will get some pressure on Rothlisberger.

I definitley give us the slight edge due to our offensive line. But the Steelers are #1 in the league in sacks. We aren't even in the top 10. Cowboys are tied for #1 with the Steelers in Sacks. So it's no surprise they had 7.

Cowboys-Giants were already in that slot... no way that was getting moved for a defensive battle.
Are we forgetting about a certain bounty the NFL had to come down on this year? Sorry our players lay the wood and it hurts feelings when 'tough guys' are made victims. What is the point in defensive players having bounties out for offensive guys anyway? Isn't taking them on what they get paid to do? A bounty implies they need extra incentives to get the job done.. yep very determined and classy! :P

I love that the Steelers get in other teams heads like that. It breaks down their play when the concentration is on revenge more than doing their job.

SOMEONE could say the Steelers molded themselves after the B-Colts.. but they would be far from correct. Hard to imagine since the Steelers came along a good 14-20 years before the Colts did (depending on which Colts team you look at). Also.. arguably the best player of that franchises history in Baltimore grew up in Pittsburgh, and was drafted by the Steelers!

/fail
I don't remember the NFL coming down on Suggs at all, besides just making sure he doesn't say anything like that again. So, yeah, stop living in the past and get over the Bounty comments, you guys aren't in anyone's heads, but actually it seems like Suggs is in yours :P
