Smoke

Terrell Suggs' lack of production recently

45 posts in this topic

He missed practice a few days one week with a neck injury. He's been generating little to no pass rush recently.

his pose has been hit since the browns game, we really need him back to being sizzle, the guy who's chasing ben all around the place

Yea, since the neck injury announcement was made I've notice his snap count down.  If necessary, do what they did with Ngata and rest him.  Pass rush won't be the same, but I think we have enough OLBs to keep the situation under control til he's healthy enough.

dont worry guys, ben's coming to town in 2 days, you can bet sizzle will be back for that one, regardless of any injuries. need proof? 2008 AFCCG vs steelers

It happens. Players hit hot streaks and players hit cold streaks. Suggs has been getting to the QB, but not as much.

Notice though, that when Suggs' play goes down, Dumervil's goes up. Perhaps it's a result of offensive game planning.

Suggs is fine. He was the  one to recover the fumble on Sunday. He may not have had many sacks the last couple of weeks but he is always in the backfield when there is a pass play. He has also made some great tackles on run plays.

I was wondering about this too. But to suggs credit, his been really close to the QB alot. Opponents have been throwing the ball quicker(a lot less big plays) & started running the ball more often against us.

It's more just things not coming in line for him.  He has been getting pressure, just not sacks.  Also he's been dealing with a foot injury.

I can't speak on the injury front but Suggs has a loooong history of going quiet for stretches of games and then exploding for stretches of games.

This is a quiet point.

Suggs has gotten in the back field. He should have had one last week but Geno gave him a little wiggle. Suggs is a big dude so he often misses those little guys, but he can get back there in a hurry.

We've played in high winds the last 3 games. Maybe that hurts him based on his style of play.

He's also gone up against D'Brick, Bushrod, and Whitfield at LT. They're pretty good.

Suggs has been pretty lackluster , meanwhile Doom is turning it up.
Sizzle needs toget right this week! Suggs had 2 tackles last week and was pretty rough on the edge for the last couple weeks

Wait... Did you call Geno little? He's like 6'2" 230. Maybe shorter then some but pretty solid.

If he doesn't get any production against the Steelers I'll start to worry.  You know he always goes hard after Ben.

Could just be offenses ignoring him.  Though he has had some trouble holding the edge.  We have played some darn good offensive lines recently.  Bears line has given up some of the least sacks this year and the Bengals have a pretty solid one as well.

Jets are OK.  Improved from last year, but Geno rarely threw the ball and was fast enough to escape pressure a lot of the time.  Also a ton of wildcat.

He's listed at 220 but I'd be surprised if he's even 210 except when he weighs himself at 9pm after a full day.  That dude looks like if you hit him decently hard he'd break like a pain of glass.

I'm not knocking him for it.  I've accepted it since 2004 after his rookie year.

Suggs is the definition of streaky.  But when he's locked in he destroys game plans.  And he's never more locked in that Pittsburgh in prime time with all of North America watching.

Just to echo the sentiments of those before, sizzle pays in steaks. In my opinion it is because if the real sizzle unleashed for sixteen games, there is not enough prep h on the planet to soothe the left tackles and quarterbacks in his wake.

Imagine had he kept his piece from weeks one to six....yowza.

That said I do but think Ben will be granted a reprieve.

it looks like he is playing to seal the edge in run support more than competing with Dumervil for sacks. As a result, the team is hanfling the run much better than before.

He was on his way to win DPOY. Ever since he hurt his neck his production slipped. No sacks, barely makes any tackles, not much QB pressure from him either. Hope he bounces back in our next game.
