What Wildcat?

44 posts in this topic

Back up QB's do not make a Wildcat.  All we did was play 10 vs. 11.

Joe does not want to be a WR. I know we need some, but he is not the answer at WR.

If Harbs wants to bench Joe, just sit him down. Don't make us play with 10 guys on O.

It makes no sense, like when JH called time out because we had a back up QB on third and goal.

He may need to be more aware of what is happening on the field.

I actually liked getting Tyrod in the game. A player with a skill set as his in this struggling offense -- no matter the position, should get some PT.

Nothing against Joe, but Tyrod can make plays with his legs. Something our offense desperately lacks

Well Tyrod is not really a QB, so yeah it is a wildcat.

someone didn't have much clue why we used a wildcat @ the 1st place.

vs a #1 run defense.   We needed a alternate outlet for run game, and he fulfilled that role for one game.

Why don't we try him at Rb for whole game? He has sick speed.

Here comes the negs.....

and yes I know he's a Qb.

b/c QB has special advantage than a RB.   If you filled him as a RB, the defenders would've touched him.   That's why we used Tyrod on short 3rd & 1 situation all day.   They can't smack him @ backfield before he gain at least a yard as a QB.

Pretty sure he means during those designed plays. He's not playing much of a QB role during those plays.

I just had to +1 you on both of these posts cause you are "pretty sure" of what some one else means when they made their post without consulting you. :D

He wasn't out there to throw passes. I've seen Ronnie Brown throw better passes out of the wildcat. Tyrod is being used as a x factor.

I like the fact we used wildcat. Lord knows the running game needs all the help they can get right now. But 9 plays for 17 yards is a bit much. Its nice for a play or two even 3 but when it averages less than 2 yards a play, you might as well run RR an extra play or two.

As others have said, we had to do something. A couple of first downs here or there, and we would have a completely different record. If we have to bring Tyrod in to pick those up, so be it. Whatever it takes to get a W.

I think the wildcat thing was done for 2 reasons.  First, just to get something going in the ground game against a very stout Jets run defense.  But I also think there is more to this - I think this is a setup.  I think they are hiding their true intentions and that we will see a few more plays out of the wildcat, maybe something with Flacco actually going out for a pass or some kind of misdirection play where Flacco comes back to the ball and throws it deep.

I think the whole thing with Flacco complaining about the wildcat is just a front.  It just seems a little too orchestrated to me.

I thought we wouldn't have these type of threads due to the win, but I guess the bad vibes are still infecting this board.  Tyrod Taylor is not a starting caliber QB.  He never will be.  Time for people to get over that.  He was in there as a runner, and he was overused at that.

With his comments(and actions)Joes luster lost a little shine with me.No doubt he is our quarterback, but for the sake of the offense, he could have did at least a little more to sell his time flanked out even if it amounted to nothing. By his logic, if Yanda doesn't particularly like one of his audibles,he's free to take the play off as well? What if Jacoby doesn't like the route he's assigned on a play he won't be involved in?

It's hard to assess Tyrod since he's had such little experience in regular season games, but if I had to guess, I'd say that as a starting QB he probably would be somewhere between a Geno Smith and a Vince Young. I like Tyrod, but I don't see much potential there.

I'm glad Joe didn't move on those plays because I wouldnt be surprised if the jets crushed him once he crossed the line of scrimmage. This would be an entirely different thread then.

All depends on the player and position I guess. I know Bryant McKinnie wouldn't exactly be thrilled to line up at WR. (Lmao) I had no problem with his comments. He's pissed off and hates not being under center. IIRC Big Ben had a very similar situation.

But I understand what your saying. If something betters the team everyone should be on board. Joe just disagrees I guess and I can't blame him for that. It's not like our coaches would put him in position to get hurt and actually be a threat to get the ball. (I know they've done it once and almost gotten away with it for a TD. Also who knows,JLC said Joe could be staging a trap for the steelers this week and actually move lol).

I'd still like to see Taylor get involved somehow without having to throw the ball. Not saying he's a bad QB though

sooo, you say it's hard to "assess" Tyrod since he's had little experience in a regular season game and then in the next sentence you don't see much potential?"  interesting!  Smh!  Tyrod is nothing like Geno Smith.  C'mon man!  SMh!  Again, I say the Ravens need to release or trade Tyrod so that he can go to a team that really, really needs him (i.e. Raiders, Browns, Texans and Jaguars etc.) cause it is not this one!  Cats here don't even like him as the backup! It's a damn shame!  If I was Tyrod's agent I'd be trying to get him the hell out of Baltimore as fast as I can man!
