What Do You Think of Ray Lewis's Comments?

410 posts in this topic

Who's making an argument? The thread is about how some people think Ray's comments about Flacco and the team is moronic. I make no argument just my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own..

I was simply stating that when Baltimore Ravens are brought up, Ray's name will be too. Flacco homers should get used to the fact that he will never be the icon Ray is/was. Some should get used to it...  :sherlock:

Again, who's saying otherwise? Ray was the face of the franchise for 17 years and will be an icon forever. No one is putting Flacco at that level. That's a straw man argument.

I didn't like Flacco's primadonna pouting during the wildcat snaps last game, and I don't like Ray making these comments.  Even if they were true, and they aren't, they serve no positive purpose.

Since when is the role of an NFL analysts supposed to be serving a positive purpose? they're paid to discuss opinions on football.

Edit: Off topic but how many current or former football players do as much thankless charity and fundraising work as Ray?

A lot.
Better question is, how many of them are as quick to tell you about it?

One of my favorite athletes is LeBron James and he probably does more for the community than Lewis (James is sport's biggest philanthropist), but you'd never know it since he doesn't talk about it.
Please, do not bash me for that. Just an example. I do want to keep it football

No more of a system guy than Luck is.

La la land^

You Flacco lovers have to stop trying to put him in the same class of QBs who runs their team offense. Flacco justs runs the plays called in to him ie>>> system guy.

Did you read my post or do you so want to believe Castillo is the problem that you'll ignore the facts? Of course many players are banged up, especially late in the season. But most players don't undergo off-season surgery, miss the entire off-season program and only start practising till August. Who gives a damn about the injury report? Just because Yanda isn't on it doesn't mean he's not playing at less than a 100%.

No, I didn't miss the play-off run last season. What I do know is that McKinnie and Oher have been inconsistent to downright awful at various times over the past few seasons and Osemele is now on IR. Could it be that McKinnie regressed after stringing together some good games and the back injury that knocked Osemele out for the year affected his play? Yeah, probably...

Personally, I was never a fan of McKinnie t all, and I doubted what he could do when he came back. He's just a low motivation player.
Yanda is a veteran. Missing off season programs isn't a huge deal. Reed, Ngata, and Lewis did it the year before. Perks of being a veteran. They don't need the extra practice, and if they get minimal practice (he did return in Carolina), that's enough for them.
I don't care about the report other than only injuries that may put game status into question appear. Yanda has been healthy enough to suit up all season. Obviously he, and no other players, are 100%, so don't use injuries as an excuse. If they're healthy enough to step on the field, they're healthy enough to play.
Osemele's back problems arose after week 4, not in the preseason when he was downright awful as well as through the first three weeks, just to let you know. It got worse in Miami and that's when it became a serious issue.
Oher has never been this bad of a run blocker and he's always been serviceable at right tackle. Remember when he was considered a strong candidate for OROY? I do. Oher has always been a fairly good right tackle, but now his play is so bad that he's likely among the worst in the league.
I do believe the scheme change had a significant effect. Players don't complain for no reason. Not to mention that both Moeller and Montgomery were unhappy with him.

A lot.

Without doing a search how many do you remember him bragging about this year alone? and feel free to name all those players that do more.

You do realize that the wristband actually contains the number and name of plays so that when a coach calls it in, the quarterback looks and says the play. It has nothing to do with calling his own plays. Oh, and Flacco does run the no huddle and audible, which involves calling him own plays.
And by the way, all quarterbacks are system quarterbacks, just depends on what type of system.

Ray is being a bit selective. In 2011, and 2012 - the offense was definitely carrying the team.

But form Joe's Rookie season until those points, sure, they were bailing him out. This is truly the first year Joe is on his own on his side of the ball.

No dis to Torrey, he's great. But he's not a Megatron, Julio/AJ green type of receiver that will take over the game no matter what. And opposing D's tend to key on him anyway, knowing we can't block the run or pass, and that we can't run for skittles.

I agree with you 100%

Just like Mike Singletary/Walter Payton is to the Bears, Jerry Rice/Joe Montana is to the 9ers, Ray Lewis is and always will be the icon of the Baltimore Ravens. Even 5-10 years from now his name will be brought up when speaking of the Ravens. Flacco will never be remembered in that term.

Ray is a leader and always will be a leader. As long as he is involved in any type of football activity expect to hear his name. Either get used to it or get away from it..

Obviously you're entitled to an opinion on whether you agree with him or not, cool.

But where were these negative opinions about his ego WHEN HE PLAYED FOR US???

A couple of you are being sensitive because he said something about our Qb. Get out of your feelings.

Let me hear about how Flacco should stop complaining about the Wildcat to the press. Shouldn't he be discussing this in house with our coach?

Let me say this.  I don't think people should put too much stock into these comments because remember, Ray said when we won the SB last year that he was the biggest Joe Flacco fan ever.  He's also stuck up for him in the media many times during his time here, and he's blamed his own defense for some of our playoff failures (like the Pittsburgh game in 2010).

Did mommy get you a computer for Christmas? That's so cute! I see that you learned how to use the internet, now all you need to do is practice thinking before you touch that big button that says "Enter" on it!

Ray is right........................to an extend. Flacco, although accurate, and able to zip the ball anywhere due to his ability to heave 70 yarders down the field, has never been that type of QB that could carry a team all on his lonesome. Thats not a knock, its just a realization that the team, and we as fans have even seen. Yes, Flacco went hot in the playoffs last year but it was not all him(and definitely not the D the entire time, outside of the Denver and NE game really). Ray Rice ran for over 300yds in the playoffs(with Bernard going for 202 himself), so it was more the fear of Rice running wild the reason Flacco was able to find all those WRs downfield and not as much just being him or Ray and the D. For the after-football Ray Lewis, I am not a really big fan of. Back when he was playing, the over-dramatics before, during, and after the game was a great motivator for the team and was a big inspiration during our championship run but now as a analyst it doesn't appeal like it used to(probably due to the criticism he's been giving too). In the end of the day, the real reason Flacco is failing is because he has a bad line, his star RB is currently last or close to last in avg yds per run, and his WRs(outside of Smith when not double covered) are not consistently getting open, mainly on third downs. Yes, Flacco has made some dumb throws when look at the team as a whole, the D is just getting back to being dominant, Offense has been sputtering all year, and the only guys we have been able to really count on? Our punter and kicker............................ Starting to feel like 1999 all over again.............
