Chances Jacoby Jones is back next year?

i think it depends on what ozzie wants to do in the draft. We could get ebron in the 1st rd and hopen brandon cooks or odell beckham slips to the 2nd rd. either of those guys could be our next return man and they are better WR than jacoby.

That's probably true... His hands and route running are both so so... You don't pay quite that much for an average WR with plus speed, who also happens to be the best return man

especially a #3 who is best known for getting hit with a bottle on a party Bus

Or being the real SB MVP. But sure, you go ahead and remember him for whatever happened in that bus.

Jacoby is not even worth half that.

Yet, without his performances the Ravens probably don't beat Denver in 2012 or win that Superbowl. If you count the close games his punt or kickoff returns helped win or kept the game close or the effect his has on the defense and safeties while on the field, I think he is worth it. Include the timing of needing to get the offense production off the ground with a new OC.

Will he return? Seeing the recent FO trend and cap problem probably not.

Lol everyone remembers his (just five) catches against blown coverages in the playoffs but nobody wants to talk about him having one measly catch against Cincy in week 17 when the playoffs were on the line.

Oh, I didn't realize it was voted on and Jacoby didn't get it.

Sure, Jacoby was absolutely HUGE and made some awesome plays, but can we really discredit some of the amazing plays that Joe Flacco made in that game? It was a toss up between the two and in that situation, the quarterback will always win.

But, do you suggest way pay him based solely off of one game?

He's not worth $5 million and it'd be a stretch to say the Ravens would even consider paying him $4 million a season.

Sure, he came up huge in the playoffs and was a great returner, but if we look at his entire body of work, he's a mediocre receiver with a limited route tree and shaky hands. He's an electric returner. Do we pay him $5 million to be just a returner? Heck no.

People love to say we pay'd Joe Flacco based solely off the playoff run. If Jacoby earned $5 million, it'd be the same situation.

Never said he was worth $5 mil but think he's worth 3.5 mil to 4.5 mil tops. I'm not sure he'd get 5 mil anywhere but someone may pay him 4.

I'd pay him $3 million if I were the Ravens. I think that'd be my maximum.

I don't think we can or will go that high, to be honest. I think Monroe, Pitta, Smith, and Graham are all higher priorities. With us likely hitting receiver pretty high in the draft, that would make Jacoby the 4th receiver at that point. We can't pay that much, even though I'd really like to keep him around.

I believe the Raven would like to keep Jacoby if they can but may allow him to test the market with the possibility of matching reasonable offers. The team needs play makers and Jacoby fits that description. Any replacement is currently unproven so that would create yet another area to redo along with other positions needing to be solidified.

I don't believe the team can continue to allow productive players, with team chemistry, get away and remain the success they have been. I know the Patriots do this but they have been the exception. Most teams attempting the same wait up to a decade before returning to playoff form. Nothing is guaranteed but I'm just wondering if its worth the gamble to allow players that fit, get away.

I guess this makes more sense here...

If Kubiak is the OC would Jacoby Jones leave? The two did not see eye-to-eye in Houston. #Ravens

I think Jacoby comes back...  I am not so sure the relationship with Kubiak could be the deal breaker.  Jacoby has been an awesome return guy, and a decent receiver for us.  I see guys like Doss, Thompson, or some of the others going first.  The guy dropped one ball in Houston, and fans had him crucified.

I think the decision on Jones will be a salary cap decision alone.  The Ravens would be crazy to willingly let him go.

I know it's hard sometimes, but this is not a "Complain about Flacco" thread...  this is about whether you believe that Jacoby will be back...

Play nice boys and girls.

See my post at the top of this page.  Is paying Jacoby to be a 4th receiver really in our best interest?  We have other holes to fill that would be a better allocation of the cap.  I don't think we can afford to pay him at expense of some other positions, most notably the OL.

There are ways to open cap space...  We do need offensive line people, most definitely...  but there are other member of the roster that can go that are not as necessary...  I see Dickson going...  Possibly Doss...  Oher...  as well as a few others.  We need the offensive players for sure....

But all of those guys are already free agents.  We don't gain anything by not re-signing them.  Even with cuts, you still presumably have 4 guys ahead of Jacoby that we'd like to re-sign, and still a plethora of other holes.  I just can't see us paying that much for a 4th receiver.  We already have a quality option in Deonte.  He's obviously not as dynamic as Jacoby, but it then becomes a question of cost/production.  Can Deonte give us 75% of what Jacoby offers for 20% of the cost?  I'd assume that answer is yes, and even if it's less than 75%, the value there is better than paying Jacoby a couple million to be a rotational guy.

That's an opinion that I don't necessarily agree with...  Jacoby is proven...  some of the others not so much...  and to let some of the older guys go is actually a good thing for this teams future....  Jacoby is not our 4th receiver.  He is potentially #2...  With Torrey and Marlon out there?????  I just see it a little differently than you do, I guess.  Give me the guys who are clutch...  Anyday... not the guys "who might be".  I think that's what we did this year...  I don't see this happening again.  Not anytime soon.

I think the FO has made it clear that they're committed to Torrey and Marlon as starters.  I don't see any way we don't come out of the draft without a receiver in at least the first 2 rounds.  That would make Jacoby 4th.

It's not about having Jacoby or not having Jacoby.  The question becomes whether the cost is worth it to keep him around while we have many other holes.  I don't see anyway that it's worth it.  I love the guy, but his time here in Baltimore is probably done.

It will be, but hey, that's business.  Jacoby is just a luxury at this point.  If he comes back at an insane bargain, you keep him.  I just don't see that being plausible.

Correct

False.  Two plays don't make you MVP of the Super Bowl.  Especially when one came off the arm of the QB who won the award.

WNST @WNST 4m

Harbaugh said both Vonta Leach and Jacoby Jones recommended the hiring of Gary Kubiak.

^ This should put some speculation to rest...

I honestly believe that they will work to keep at least Jacoby...  I will maintain that they will do what they can to keep him.  He's been a great return guy and a decent receiver.
