I think there's a lot more to this than most of us realize...  Managing 60 - 70 people is one thing... game planning...  working with the other coaches, outside of the players.... and the reality of it all is...  When you got guys falling out due to the stresses and stuff... There's gotta be a lot more than any of us can ever imagine.

An NFL head coach has one of the most stressful management positions there is. NFL football is BIG $ and your mistakes are there for all to see.

Exactly.....  Not something you can do from an Ipad.

But if you are watching from that iPad late at night alone, it really doesn't matter. I know I'm sounding like a pest on the topic, but it's the psychologist in me coming out. If a coach sleeps in his office or has 20 hour days in the beginning of March, that's an issue. In the middle of November, it's to be expected I suppose.

Thats just it, you are one of 32 people with one of the most stressful/ fun jobs in the world and when it's all said and done only one is a winner.

Your post is very interesting and illustrative. I am concerned though about your definition of winner. I suspect there are some coaches who have worked harder than Harbs but have never won a SB and those who have worked less and have won one or more SBs. Its not about working harder. Its about working smarter. I'm now retired but when I worked I only worked half days --- from 8AM to 8PM --- for an extended period of my career. With all due respect, I'd be willing to come out of retirement and coach this team for free, i.e., for the love of the game, and I'm confident we'd be at least as successful as we have been this year.
