Week 12 Discussion( Other Games)

699 posts in this topic

Week 12 starts tomorrow, so I figured I'd do JO a favor and get this started for him.

Some things I'm excited about:

Interim QB watch: we have Cassel and Tolzien facing off in GB and Fitzpatrick dueling UDFA upstart rookie McGloin. And we can't forget about Henne and Keenum's H-Town smackdown, or Glennon's matchup against an angry Lions' team in Motown.

PIT@ CLE: huge AFC North implications

IND@ AZ: this should be a surprisingly good matchup, with Luck squaring off against an elite D helmed by a fierce secondary. Palmer has been finding his groove and is cutting down on his picks. AZ can prove a lot and stayed tied for 2nd in the NC West w/ a win at home.

DAL@ NYG: GOTY! NFC East smackdown! The 'Boys-Giants games are always fun and DAL will be fresh off their bye week. NYG has won 4 in a row and can take 2nd place with a win. Expect a high-flying affair.

I just realized something

Matt Flynn has lost his job/beaten out by the following UDFAs

1) Matt McGloin (Oak)

2) Jeff Tuel (Bills)

3) Scott Tolzien (GB)

Sad, I know. Are you excited about your Nittany Lion QB?

Well if we can at least beat denver i'll be mildly happy with the season.

Lol, you sound like a Raiders fan. NE is all but guaranteed to win the division again and will probably clinch a bye soon, too.

yeah but meh as much a s I like being spoiled with yearly playoffs, I want some nice deep runs and a legit shot at the superbowl. We have been destroyed with injuries though so its unlikely

I'll bet a good amount that NE gets to the AFCCG. NE will likely face KC in the AFCDG, which is quite doable, especially at home.

well if talib stops playing like a thug and the defense gets it together we may have a shot but I feel the hawks are gonna run away with it.

Plus, of course, the Playoff Patrol kicks in this week:

*San Diego @ KC. Both teams will be coming in desperate for a win. KC needs to keep pace with Denver and San Diego doesn't want to lose pace in the race to the postseason. Ultimately, however, I think KC's pass rush hits Rivers around enough to put them behind the chains and let Alex Smith do his thing in a low-scorer.

*Carolina @ Miami. I really like how the Panthers match up in this one. I love how the Panthers pass rush matches up with Miami's o-line that's allowed the most sacks in the league. On the other side of the ball, I've noticed the Dolphins defence tends to struggle at getting off the field. That won't help with Cam Newton in decent form. Miami will step up no doubt with all they have to prove, but I think the Panthers are too good.

*Pittsburgh @ Cleveland. Like OP said, big match for both the AFC North and the Wild Card race. Again, someone has to lose and obviously I hope it's the Steelers. I think they get it done though. Browns could pleasantly surprise us though.

*Tennesee @ Oakland. I know OP's listed this one already, but I think this is worth a look as a whole. The Titans may struggle on the road without Locker, and I don't think there's enough tape on McGloin to stop him yet. My gut says Raiders walk out alive, but what I love (in a competitive, maybe sadistic, kind of way) is that someone has to lose.

*Denver @ NE. I feel kinda weird to say this, but I hope the Patriots win. I want the Broncos to go somewhere cold during the Wild Card week (probably the north). Fortunately for me, I feel like I have a reason to be optimistic despite NE's injuries. For some reason, the Patriots seem to have Denver's number and I suspect it may be to do with Josh McDaniels knowing their schemes. At any rate, it should be a good match.

This week WILL seriously hurt at least three teams looking for a playoff spot, as many as five, but it won't definitively knock anyone out imo.

You haven't been legit superbowl contenders since the FO began neglecting the defense.

They made it to the SB 2 years ago with a bottom 3 D.

Why do you label McGloin 6th round upstart, he is an UDFA. Walk on at Penn State and came in as the 4th string QB there too lol.

Houston's D is still a good defense and for what McGloin did to them, he def has potential. With the Raiders schedule, he could lead them to a wild card spot with how weak the AFC is. He's got another winnable game against Tennessee this week. Maybe Oakland finally found their QB.

Brady has contracted Manning-itis his last two Super Bowls though. The offense just disappeared and he didn't play particularly well. They should have won both of them, they were easily the better team. Especially the first one, that was the biggest Super Bowl upset of all time.

They didn't win. And they shouldn't have beaten us in the AFCCG.

I'd love for this to happen.

Case Keenum and Matt McGloin are two of my favorite players.
There's one attribute the combine or any stats can't measure: Heart
