The Giants went into the Patriots game last year looking to end the Patriots shot at a perfect season; the Titans aren't playing for anything except a one seed. Coughlin was actually criticized heavily for putting in his starters. If Eli Manning had sprained his ankle, it wouldn't have looked so bright.

I can assure you that Dungy isn't going to play Manning through the fourth, I'm basing that over what he has done every single year going into the playoffs. If the Titans have something to play for and are going hard the entire game, Dungy isn't going to risk injury so that he can keep the Titans from the first seed.
Don't forget to mention the fact that Washington and New York were still battling for the 5th seed. Giants were playing for more than just bragging rights against the Patriots
Right, the only way we miss the playoffs is if New England goes 3-0 and we go 1-2. Although I think Arizona is a flukey team and the Patriots can beat them, I also think that New England isn't strong enough to conquer all three squads; they'll trip up somewhere.
you guys forget that arizona doesnt play well in the cold and they have to play the pats in new england

And judging by their remaining games I believe they will high step into the playoffs.
Yea I'm not to worry about the Patriots winning out. They struggled mightly against the Seahawks. Arizona will beat them. In fact, I'm not worried about the Jets, Patriots or Miami winning out. So that gives us a two game wiggle room. The way I see it , we can go 1-2 and make the playoffs.

Being that we have to go on the road in the playoffs, I wouldn't WANT to go 1-2, but I see what you're saying.

Assuming we beat Jacksonville, we just need one win between Dallas/Pittsburgh to get in with no worries.

I hear that. Cassell's fragile USC fingers can't handle the cold. Who comes up with these "theories"?

I'm not buying into this Matt Cassel stuff. How many quarterbacks would struggle with Randy Moss, Wes Welker, Kevin Faulk, and one of the best offensive lines in NFL history. Boller would've had a hard time screwing that one up.

He also made bad reads in that game and didn't get the ball out fast enough. I'm not taking anything away from the Steelers, but Tom Brady wouldn't have been sacked five times.

We can clinch a playoff birth with a win and a patriots loss or a win and losses from the jets/dolphins. Id love to be able to clinch a spot this week. It would make me feel a little better.

My take, is that no matter what happens I think the best sede is the 6th one (wildcard), as then the Colts play through the rest of the AFC until the title game. Meaning, the Ravens don't have to face the Colts until that game, provided they (the Colts) make it that far. Let your opponents take the Colts out for us. :)

Remember, Manning and the cover 2 they run on defense (with Sanders in there) seems to have our number. And, we would be playing in Indy, which is worse.

Now, if we take the division, then we at least get a home game or two, depending, and the Colts would have to come here.

Bottom line, I think everyone here would agree that we'd rather not have to face the Colts first, as they *seem* to be the only team in the AFC that we have trouble beating (or even staying close enough with to beat). Yes, when we went 13-3 it was close, but...

We'll see how it all shakes out. It could even be a third matchup with the Steelers as well!

A loss from the Patriots at any point will rule them out.

I really hope we dont get Indy, they really have our number! Id rather have us play the Steelers or Titans because in our last matchups our margin of points in them games were 3. What was it with Indy? If we see them, we need to really study hard on that high power offense they have

There's no scenario in which we play Tennessee/Indinnapolis, but the Steelers aren't out of the equation.

I'd much rather have Miami/New York/Denver.
