Doom = waste of money What's he had one good game this year ? Cincy game he was good

He's doing well.  He gets taken out of games sometimes, but he gets a lot of pressure even if it doesn't result in sacks.  He has some value in the fact that he takes the double team away from Suggs.  I'm sure he's a had a pretty big year helping Suggs put up the numbers he has.  We also aren't really paying the guy that much in comparison to what other pass rushers get.

offensive additions this year um um who did ozzie add? seriously sign flacco to a huge contract with zero new weapons i am hard on flacco but in all honesty he needs playmakers and a creative o.c. without a doubt this team is close there a play or two per game from being 8-2

8.5, which isn't bad.  Again, he's getting in there and forcing the QB to panic.  Dumervil, as with most of the team, just isn't getting the QB down.  I don't think the numbers are indicative of what he brings to the table.  He's done well.

This is actually a really good point. Lest we forget, the Broncos are paying more of his salary than we are.

If you're going to be so critical of one play, why not the one that cost points, ala the brilliant pick 6?  I'm not saying he played like an All-Pro, but there was improvement.  Those 2 picks Joey Turnover threw sure didn't help the team out...

Blah, Blah, blah......... There's a book full of mistakes on both sides of the ball that happened during the game, but not one of them would have mattered if we get a TD on that play. Rolling the ball to the QB at that point in the game was a huge, huge screw up.

He's good, but needs to play smart. I expect more from a vet like Doom.

I was thinking about it on my drive home from the Eastern Shore.  This game was hands down one of the best performances that our team has shown this entire season.

Finally everything was running on all cylinders, with a decent amount of consistency.

Unfortunately a few mistakes cost us the game.

Yeah, some of his penalties just kill you inside. The 9ers fans will be blowing up right now about the roughing call in today's game v the Saints, but there's a technique to hitting QBs. You don't give the referees a reason to extend drives - which will be ab even bigger deal against Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.

That's the biggest issue.  He needs to stop committing stupid penalties.

So the pick 6 gets the bla bla bla but dwell on the bad snap?  Yea, it just happened that he was the direct reason for 7 points to the other team, but ignore that for the bad snap?  He probably doesn't need to make that snap if your boy doesn't give the ball away twice.

Doom is just .5 sack away from tying what Suggs have.   His been good @ the sack department.

The problem I have w/ him is his snap count fiasco & his inability to other things outfield.

Let's all just take a moment to appreciate the Tandos Doss stiff arm ("stiffy") :-)

and the Kyle Juice Truck stick. Man was that some beautiful stuff right there!

I vote we close the gripe thread in light of Ozzie's sudden illness, and turn our thoughts to him getting better.

Close ranks and pull for our own, even if we are frustrated with the season and today's game.

My thoughts on both the pick-six and the bad snap:

*The pick-six was an excellent play by the defender. He got his read on the QB, beat Ray out and timed his movements to perfection. If Suggs did that we'd be clamouring for him to get DPOY (more than we are), and not saying anything on McCown.

*The bad snap looked like it may have been a communication glitch. Joe was running around a LOT pre-snap and I think Gino expected him to be closer. Maybe Gino was supposed to be more aware of where his QB was, but that would make it a matter of experience. Otherwise, and I think this one's more likely, it was just a bad play. And let's be honest here: every player had at least one today.

Im not sure how anyone can put this on the coaches. I'd like to here a good explanation as to how this loss can be pinned on anything other than a couple of bad plays in the field. The Ravens out played the Bears much of the game and got a couple of bad breaks.

^This.  The only coaching decision that I didn't like was the 2nd challenge, which had no shot whatsoever of being overturned.  Otherwise, I think it was a well played and well coached game.  Like you said, a few things didn't go our way.  There were mistakes that came at the worst times.

That's exactly correct. Just like Webb's terrible coverage allowing a score doesn't cause us to lose the game. You can't go back through a game and talk "what ifs". If the pick six doesn't happen that completely changes history and who knows how the rest of the game plays out. If that boneheaded snap happens at any other point in the game it means little or nothing. On what could have been the play that won the game your boy Gino choked big time. We score a TD there, it's game over.

Doss has board hands,

If I'm not mistaken, Juice could have been flagged for that new runner leading with your helmet rule.

I can accept this response.  As bad as the coverage was, it was a terrible choice to leave a 5'10 corner on a 6'6 TE.

He did play good vs the run though.

We are gonna go through this after each close loss until mathematically eliminated. It was close. Our running game improved, but we keep coming back to the same critical flaws. Doss made a couple catches, but in the end we don't have our clutch go to receiver. He's not there on critical conversion downs and he's not there for Joe in the tight spots.

Its just too obvious to deliberate any longer.

This was the Champion people. They took a Champion and gave it away.

For the 3rd Time in a year we lost our momentum to a delay – SB – Denver and now Chi… that really sucks!

The weather was terrible today – sure you can argue that both teams had to play in same conditions … but it had a reason that the Bears chose the side in OT!

I am really happy about J. Smith development… I don`t see Webb playing up to his big contract (B Marshalls big play killed us today in OT and if I am right it was Webb who covered him) … maybe a victim to the Cap next year (10,500,000 next year???) … maybe we can get a good draftpick for him …

Well after all it`s not nice to lose but I am not as angry as I was vs. the Browns or Steelers…  not our year … maybe a reload year (not a rebuild in my eyes)…

Ouch. That really hurt. I don't think anybody feels it more than the players (we just feel it equally). There wasn't a player in that lockerroom that didn't look like a tornado fell on them. That being said, here comes the Jets. Hope Oz is okay.
