Ed Reed

The article on site says if claimed off waivers the team would be responsible for his $411,000 salary for 2013. We got that in cap space and we have to be up for the waiver wire before Saints & Colts right? Or does it got by last season's performance?

I don't care. Bring back Ed Reed. Use him as a situational player but mainly to coach up our young safeties. He can retire a Raven and we can offer him a coaching job this off season.

Get it done Ozzie!

It's actually that $411K + $62K for every game he is active.  They jumped the gun on reports there.  We can't take up that much money.  If we really want him (which I doubt), we'd have to get him for the pro-rated vet minimum.

So that is another 420,000. Still got it in cap space and really, I just don't care. I don't want Reed going out like Mason did. Bring him home.

Attention, Ravens fans -- your favorite team will not be making a waivers claim for S Ed Reed, per league source.

PFT hates us therefore they tweet that to get a reaction out of us lol jk.

Wait, does Ozzie run PFT now, I mean how do they know that?

Well then. I hope the Saints & Colts don't claim him. We might bring him back then.

I think it's dumb not to bring him back in. The emotional spark alone could help this team.

As for who do we cut, Stokley is just taking up space right now.

One day contract so he can retire a Raven. Ed Reed doesn't help the running game or offense. In a perfect world, I'd love to see #20 back in purple and black, but it ain't happenin'.

No, but the emotional spark may?

One quirk in Reed's contract - advanced $2M in salary/earned $1.76M of it, so HOU could claim any team that claims Reed owes them $240k back

  •

In that case, Reed,if claimed would cost new team $411K in base, $240K to HOU + $62.5K/game in bonus. That might be enough to preclude claim

Exactly why Ozzie is smart enough to know that for this very reason Reed may pass through waivers and will be able to sign him after he clears waivers.

No doubt, but I think Elam and Ihedigbo are starting to play well together, and if we bring Ed back, he's gonna wanna see the field. Who knows?

I don't see the Saints and/or Colts paying out that kind of coin.

If he passes through waivers I hope Ozzie signs him on the cheap for the rest of this season. Please. It killed me to watch Mason's last season go through this same vicious cycle. I can't bear to watch it happen to Ed Reed.

I think we should do it just so we can move Elam back to his natural position.Plus it would be a huge benefit to us if we somehow make the playoffs and run into Manning and the broncos. He out smarted our defense on alot of those big plays he had.Oh yeah,he could also make sure Brady doesn't run circles around our defense when we face them in a few weeks.

signing him back would make the fans happy........

Yeah, sure. Nostalgia is nice and it makes fans happy. It's just too bad nostalgia doesn't win games.

A team with a losing record cut this guy. A team started a rookie at FS over Reed. As much as he pissed me off, I loved Ed, but you have to be daft or blind to want him back as a player.

Idk about you guys, but winning makes me happier than nostalgia.

I was among those who thought that Huff was as good as Reed at this point in their careers.  Turns out I was correct in a way I did not anticipate.  Both are incapable of playing at a professional level anymore.

I'd be really happy if we hired Reed on as a coach.

Don't care what anyone says, would love to see him back. Will it happen? Probably not. In reality, should it happen? Definitely not, he isn't even a shell of his former self. But I still would not mind it at all.
