[News] Could Sunday's Ravens Win Turn Around Season?

112 posts in this topic

Recognizing that Joe actually throws a very accurate ball while he is on the move, why not design more plays that have him on the move, rolling out to the right?  You could run some read option cutbacks or shovel passes to the RB or TE as counters.  Just a thought.

Gotta figure out the run game. The other portions of our game are starting to work good enough that, we could ride a wave of wins over the next few games and the way things are panning out in the division, we could really be in the thick of things.
Once you reach the playoffs, it 0-0 again and anybody's ball game however, right now, the run game is just stagnant and you can't be THAT one dimensional and go far into the playoffs.
I imagine Bernard Scott has had enough time to learn the playbook.

I try to remain positive in the light of yesterday's win, but the bottom line is that the win just prevented our post-season hopes from going to ashes. We are still waiting for a performance that would signal a true turnaround.

As dysfunctional as the O line is and given a half a season to improve (while they only get worse) it is hard to imagine them going on a 5-2 run to finish the season. But given the level of teams in this division and those vying for that #6 seed in the AFC, it is still possible.

See the Saints last night ? So many options. We have one or maybe two that are productive (not 7-8).

See our 3rd down efficiency yesterday ? 18%. The Bills were higher, against the aging Steelers defense.

Believe the O has not made one baby step forward in a month. It would be good to make some big steps this week; Julius Peppers and the Bears secondary aren't taking prisoners.

Go Ravens.

Other than the Bronco game, all of our losses are by less than a TD.

If the offensive line could actually block, then the Ravens could have sustained drives and score more points, and the D wouldn't be gassed by the end of the game, and would be in a much better position to close games out.

However, 9 games in and there are no signs of the offense getting better. They are disgusting and are painful to watch.

This is a problem with coaching...we all know who and what the root cause is; but Harbs is not admitting it and is obviously not addressing it.

Until the above mentioned improves; there's absolutely no way this joke of an offense can "turn around" this season.

But if Harbs actually mans up and goes back to blocking basics, I'm hopeful. Until then, I will cheer them on and wish for a win, but I certainly will not expect it.

Hey BR.com...you looking for a writer that actually tells it like it is?

Give me a call some time.

9 games into the season with a non existent running game and it seems to be getting worse. i do not know why the offensive coaches will not change the scheme because it is putting added pressure on the defense because they are on the field too long. with no running game caldwells playbook is cut in half but he needs to do a better job with play selection and in game adjustments as well. hats off to dean pees for being more aggressive this week and it paid off. keep ithe pressur going the rest of the season

I just read an article in the Baltimore Sun written by Mike Preston and he said that as of yesterday the Ravens changed Offensive line coaches. I e-mailed him and am waiting for the reply as to who is in charge now. Apparently it is not Castillo (Maybe back to Moellar?). Not only that the article said that they went back to the schemes that we used last year (anybody see this?). If I get a reply from him I will relay it the boards. Preston is not Rah-Rah Homer. If there is something to be told Good or Bad he willl be the one to tell you.
Stay tuned.

I remember reading something on here about how Dallas Clark, was a bare hand catcher. He said something about how gloves didn't feel right. Well I guess he had a change of heart last game.

i believe deep down the real issue not being acknowledge is as soon as o-line Coordinator juan castillo came into the picture he tarnished the run.....w/o an O-line we can't run efficiently or worse pass protect... everything starts with the war in the trenches and we enough talent on the o-line to be solid, we're below average and it starts with the coordinator... I will still say though it is  also jim Caldwell's fault too because he made us into a pass heavy team which is why almost every game we have almost twice as much passing attempts then rushing...live and die by the run was our forte and now has been shifted to pass heavy with more shotgun...we don't kill clock and don't allow our defense to rest which doesn't allow them to finish games in critcal moments...look at the last four games including the hail mary... it starts in the trenches and our d-line is above average at the least...

I am a diehard Ravens fan. Have been since they came to B'more. However I am tired of the same lines every Monday. Castillo has got to go!!!!! Harbaugh doesn't seem to be able to manage the game and the players get way to many penalties, again on Harbaugh.
Hope it is NOT to late. GO RAVENS

If Big Mikey wrote that the Ravens have changed Offensive line coaches, OH WOW! Even a cheerleader, the water boy, a raffle winner would be a step up from the idiot who is/was there. One can only pray that my grill in your grill, old fashion smash mouth football is back to stay.
I have a smile on my face.

what preston said was : "[The Ravens have] switched offensive line coaches and went to a new blocking scheme which was the old blocking scheme."

Full article : http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/ravens/bs-sp-preston-ravens-column-1111-20131110,0,1831422.column

Apparently our Ravens Insiders on this board, driven by personal wishful thinking, are misreading articles and injecting their own beliefs. Don't think any announcement about coaching changes are imminent.

As a matter of fact, Vensel just posted an article a couple hours ago ... an interview with Bobbie Williams, where he was saying it is just a matter of time before the run game gets on track (of course, how much "time" is something we'd really like to know).

Moeller has been and currently is the offensive line coach, as is reflected by the teams own website. That has not changed at any point this season.

Despite baseless fan speculation, Juan Castillo was never the offensive line coach. His official title is "Run Game Coordinator". As of this moment, I've seen no evidence to suggest either title or roles have changed.

the injuries to osemele and yanda, an inexperienced center, and a lack of oline depth is and has been the problem. castillo didn't help, but considering the injuries, how much could he have done? even a straight-up man to man scheme wouldn't have done much better. all things considered, we are still in it - and as long as we're in it - we can turn it around.
