I haven't touched this series at all. I seen the commercial and feel like I need to play this game. Would this be a good one to start the series off with?

You can get 2 really cheaply, I would start with that one.  The first one sucked IMO, but 2 and 3 were quite a lot of fun.  3 had more enjoyable gameplay and I liked the overall story, but Ezio is such a better character than Conner.

Got the gamestop edition. Has an immense amount of freebies that comes with it.

This game reminds me of GTA and Skyrim rolled together with a little Spiderman drizzled on top lol.

How do you kill the people you are contracted to kill when they are surrounded by an army of guards?

Since you asked for opinions, I hated Assassin's Creed III. Connor was an emotionless golem of a character which was unfortunate as he had an interesting backstory and there was so much potential there had it not been for his lifeless voice actor destroying that. They also updated the controls which many cited as an improvement but I personally found them twitchy and way to responsive...more often than not I was terrible at doing the things that came easily to me in the first few installments of the series. I got about a third of the way through AC III when I did a side mission reachable from your ship (not one of the naval combat missions, one of the few things I did enjoy in the game) where I had to infiltrate some British fort on the coast. Long story short, the place goes up in flames and you are given a timer to escape. Meanwhile en route you enter a large room filled with the tough "jaeger" soldiers with no decent climbing space I could find to escape while thw timer is running. After about half a dozen failures I gave up in frustration and never touched the game again. What was even more frustrating for me personally is I do as much research as I possibly can before plopping $60+ dollars on a game, its why I never complained about the crappy amount you get for trade/cash ins on used games anymore, because before AC III I couldnt tell you the last game I did that with. My personal experience with it left me feeling cheated and duped on the title...

That said, I had beaten AC, AC II, and AC Brotherhood (didn't get around to Revelations) and I enjoyed all 3. I have some fond memories of the original as it, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, and GTA IV were my first three PS3 games but it probably hasn't aged well. I would definitely reccomend AC II and Brotherhood, great games with compelling stories in both.

As far as Black Flag goes, I don't know much about it apart from being Caribbean pirate based, I honestly was surprised they were pushing it out as soon as they were since III came out literally a year ago. I'm a bit skeptical at the quality of product Ubisoft can field in that short of a time frame but I also do not know how many dev studios they have. If you're a newcomer to the series the control ctweaks probably won't kill Black Flag for you as Ac III did for the series to me.

The 3rd one's (Assassins Brotherhood) story line isn't quite as intriguing by the recreation of Renaissance Rome is near flawless.  I found myself at times just wandering the city as a virtual tourist it was that good.

This series is hands down my favourite series of video games of all time.  Ezio embodies the entire series 100%.  Good move on your part going back to Ezio's games.
