Sounds like he was working hard, too.

The #Ravens have placed Kelechi Osemele on injured reserve and added Asa Jackson to the active. Jackson has put on 10 pounds of muscle.

My boy! That's great to hear but I hope he still has his speed. He's so quick. I'm really excited for Asa because I know I remember reading him being compared to Webb or Ed Reed and I'm not confusing him with Omar either before anyone says that lol

We all know the Ravens nation are the first class organization so Asa given another chance with the team means Ozzie and the rest of FO believe Asa has good character.

I hope he would bring some heat for the secondary and ST.......

Well....lets put it this way...most of the time, Corners are supposed to cover the lanky Wide Receivers but the time often comes when they lose their assignment or the doubling Safety has to make the play.

The above is part of the reason I don't accept the "Safety Out of Position" argument as it pertains to Cleats. Its rejected here outright. A good Safety. A Safety a team uses its number 1 pick on has to be much more than a dedicated run stopper. We had that in Pollard. We did not need to draft a "Mini-Pollard" as Sami 84 has extensively stated. (A Mini or Supreme Pollard, that has not even been as effective as Pollard Regular.) If our number 1 pick at Safety does not have Free Safety coverage ability, I rest my case right here. You don't use a number 1 pick on a Strong Safety, at least not in this opinion, but I'll elaborate in the event some expect Cleats to develop the dynamic part.

Ed Reed was generational. No need to elaborate upon that. It was clear however we were going to need a replacement for him. That is why I spent the time that I did looking at the safeties in last year's draft. I felt we had to select the best one and give Reed the opportunity to impart his wisdom to the new player. To train him up. Ed Reed HAD to come back for one more year. HAD to come back. It's just not even debatable. Even LESS so when you realize in hindsight that the Front Office had no intention of retaining Pollard Regular. Even now STUNNED is all I can say. Absolutely STUNNED by the incompetence in purging the last line of defense in it's entirety. And that is BEFORE the decision to draft Cleats.

Cleats didn't warrant a second look in regard to the Safeties reviewed here. He didn't make the grade. He didn't show a thing. Pre Draft, many of the so called "Draft Experts" had him rated as the Top Safety. Not sure where he went in regard to safeties drafted but it sure wasn't the top. The only Safety I even considered to replace Ed Reed was the guy the Niners took. If I remember correctly they moved up to get him. They knew what they were doing, but it was evident on film. His name was the same. It was the Football Gods talking as clear as they could to the Raven Front Office. The Gods wanted him to be a Raven also. It was Fate.

I have nothing more to say on this topic, other than to reiterate I hold Ozzie Newsome Personally responsible.

Interesting train off thought I will admit and I will not be dismissive of your thoughts. A question though is this. You like tall safeties, and I completely understand this train of thought as we are in agreement here. The hutch though is the fact that talk safeties and player in general shots not guarantee success. If it did we would still have James hardy.

Now to the point. Tall is great as you can't tech that. The problem is tall with instincts and football ability. Taylor Mays has all the metrics to be great, but he isn't. Sean Taylor did, Steve Atwater did, then again try to get them with the list pick odd the first round. Both were to rev I believe, I am on my phone or I would check. Seeing s we let both safeties walk it was arguably our biggest need.So then do we ignore it and have a worse secondary ? Never mind the fact we let them go, that is fine and over they chased money and one has fundamental differences with the coach so it is moot. We had to get someone, I had three other safeties I would have rather had but only one was an arguably first round pick and none were as polished. So one was more pro ready than the others with a better pedigree.

That brings up the question of how do you know they would be able to learn all the things that makes you polished ? Elam already was, and we took him. I also think you see embellishing his struggles to be polite. He has been average and for a rookie playing the people he had there is reason for optimism. Now do we take swearinger because of measurable s even though less polished ?

Who can we realistically get there add polished and as ready to contribute ?

If it had been up to me I would have traded up for Eric Reid. Almost no price was too high. I think we should have known Frisco was after him. I would have given both our 1st and 2nd round picks for him and probably more.

Swearinger is the guy that was playing for Ed Reed and got torched for an easy TD over the top.

As far as who we should have picked, Cyprien looked very good to me or even the injured Phillip Thomas, though the latter may not pan out now. But, we wouldn't have had to use nearly as valuable a pick.

Eric Reid was the pick.

As far as who can be acquired now, probably no one. Don't really even care at this point.  All I'm looking forward to is drafting highly and praying a new team is in place to make those selections.

And that is exactly why you're not running the team.

Good god you can't be serious and if you are thats just a terrible misuse of draft picks.

Absolutely

That price is way to high for anyone not named Ronnie Lott, and even then you really have to think about it.

Absolutely

For a safety?

Yeah...no. Not for a safety. Very few positions on a team can be a legit reason for throwing away your top 2 picks for and a safety is not one of them. LT, QB, CB (and I am talking like a Champ Bailey/Revis/Sanders) are the only positions that should warrant that. I would say a Calvin Johnson clone but he broke the mold.

Absolutely

If Ozzie would have given up that many picks for Eric Reid I bet you still would have been calling for his head saying the ravens weren't able to get inside linebacker, a widereceiver, and etc

I think he has to be active. Even if Jimmy and Graham play they're both injured and Webb is coming off an injury.

he can also work on the return game, giving Doss a break and let him concentrate on being a WR for the whole game
