Ravens, Steelers, and Jets are tied at 5-6.  Tiebreakers still matter.  If it were week 17, they'd have to decide on someone for that 6th spot.

i don't think head to head counts though when it's multiple teams, is that not what you meant? Or what tiebreaker do they have on us?

Division record maybe?  I honestly don't know the tiebreakers off the top of my head.  I'm just reporting what I saw on Twitter.  As it currently stands, its Steelers --> Ravens --> Dolphins --> Jets for that 6th spot.  No clue how or why.

It's head-to-head-to-head-etc record for a 3+ way tie. The Steelers are 2-0 against other 5-6 teams. We are 2-1. I think we will supercede them after these afternoon games though, because either Tenn or Oak will be at 5-6 and Pitt lost to both of them (putting them back to 2-1) and we have the better conference record.

Yep not a clue lol.  Either way, we have to win against the Steelers on Thursday.

We're currently 7th in the AFC.  The Steelers hold the tiebreaker over us right now.  This game on Thursday is more important than originally thought.

Actually we're the 8th seed, if we're being technical with tiebreaks and all. Either Ten or Oak will be in the 6th seed at days end because they play each other.

Both those teams have beaten the Steelers and as you mentioned the Steelers have the slight edge on us. So i think we'd still be  in the 8th seed despite the tie records.

True.  It would probably be better to wait until after the week is over to see where we actually stand.  It's all speculation at this point.

This could be a mess come week 17 lol, what's the bengals record and remaining schedule? Can we still win the division or have they an easy run in

I think we'd move to the 7th seed behind the winner of that game. It's Bal-Mia-NYJ-Pitt-Ten/Oak at 5-6, and the best head-to-head record would be whoever wins that game. We'd be next at 2-1 (same as Pit) but with a better conference record than Mia NYJ and Pitt.

Yea waiting after next week would be even better because the Ravens and Steelers go head to head, Jets and Dolphins go head to head, the Titians play the Colts and the Raiders play in Dallas just before our game, So  it should be some separation next week.

I just hope the Ravens are in the 6-6 bracket.

Yep this is the next big one.  Today's game was the first test and Thursday becomes bigger with the win today.  I don't think the Vikings will be much of a problem, so hopefully we're 7-6 heading to Detroit.

yes of course.

With a bye today, that 2.5 game lead is cut to only 2 games.

Week 13. the Bengals travel out west to SD to play a Chargers team who just had a huge win and will be fighting for their season. I personally still don't trust Andy Dalton so that'll be a tough game imo.

Week 14. they have the Colts the week after, which should be a really good game. It's a toss up imo so it could definitely result in a lost for them.

Week 15. They have a Sunday night game at Pittsburgh and even if the Steelers are mathematically done at that point they are still a prideful team.

Week 16. They have the Vikings the following week

Week 17. This could be a showdown for the AFC North title.

Ravens still have everything right in front of them.

Yea I think 10-6 wins this Division as I feel the Bengals will lose at least one game before week 17. But with the team still alive for the 6th seed all pretty much battling each other over the next 3-4 weeks, I feel 9-7 could get the Wildcard.

That Detroit game is the one i'm looking at the most. I know that the Steelers, Patriots, and even Vikings will be tough games, but that Detroit game on the road will be the toughest imo. But if the offense shows up I like our chances.

There is so much chaos surrounding the 6th seed right now. This has to be one of the closest races for a playoff spot in a long time, I would think. I haven't looked back at recent years, but this is crazy!

yea but he Division record has to come into play first. The Steelers are 2-1 while we are 2-2 which is why they would be ahead of us.

it's tricky and the good thing is that it's not week 17, beat the Steelers next week and we'll be in the 6th seed

HTH is out when there is over a 2 team tie.

Pitt would currently win the HTH & the division record to eliminate us anyway right now.

Stating the obvious, but even if the Ravens make the playoffs, without some SEMBLANCE of a run game, it's going to be hard for them to do anything. Watching Peyton and Brady, even these guys need a decent run game to beat good teams. I know the run game wasn't great in last year's playoffs, but at least it wasn't absolutely useless. We also had Boldin, Pitta, and Birk on offense.

Thank goodness Oakland got upset today! Otherwise, they'd be ahead of both PIT & BAL.

They lost to Ten, though, so they are now ahead of both Pit and Bal.

It wouldn't be easy without a great run game, but the playoffs are never easy. If the offense starts to hit it's stride I think we could make a run. I don't think we would be a team opponents look forward to facing after seeing what we did last year. Especially with the defense playing the way it is, and statistically being better than last year's. The return of Pitta COULD be huge too, but we would obviously need some other guys to step up big time on offense. It's a very different team, but Flacco has proven he can do it.

I'd rather TEN be ahead. They lost to freaking JAC at home!

Who cares about tiebreakers, the Thanksgiving Night Game will settle the matter!  :ravensquote:

BAL (6-6)

PIT (5-7)

Look what Moreno did to NE's run D.

If we beat Pitt were in, if we don't we're out. I know that mathematically isn't 100% the case but I'm sure that's how both teams are looking at this game. The Chargers, Jets, Titans, and Dolphins are push overs.. The Steelers and Ravens have the experience and leadership to get to the playoffs if they win this game. It all comes down to thanksgiving in Baltimore and I wouldn't want it any other way. I hope we wear the black on blacks uni's!!!

at the end of 2009 regular season, jets (5th seed), Ravens (6th), texans and the pitts finished 9-7 with titans and broncos at 8-8; six teams in the mix of things this year too

SD just pulled off a shootout win @ KC vs the #1 D!  They have 4 home games left against CIN, NYG, OAK & KC.  If their offense maintains their momentum, then they'll have a chance to win @ Mile High, too.

TEN is doing surprisingly well w/ the Amish Rifle, bolstered by an elite D.  They play in the weakest division.
