Should we get rid of Ray Rice?

321 posts in this topic

The problem is blocking and scheme and allot of people who said rice was done ,,,,,,, were wrong . and if all you folks who said start Pierce we would have gotten smashed today . :)

He's not done, but he is slow and average. The line created nice holes for him to run. If he was in shape, we would have run away that game.

I'll eat crow.  I honestly thought he was done.  I want to see some more consistency, but he had some burst and made some people miss.  That's what I was worried about, not the numbers.

Ray Rice is ruining his legacy. Why would a RB let himself get out of shape like that???

How do you add muscle w/o any fat? That's like finding the secret of life, lol. doesn't matter how you look...long as you get it done. We don't put players on a stage and select the most fit before each game (that stopped with Abe Lincoln's decree)...we want people that can get the job done and with decent blocking we saw rice return to form. If a dude with a gut can run a 4.4 that's all that matters.

We blocked well and rice did his thing. The End.

If you think that was 4.4 speed, you are mistaken.

You add muscle without gaining a fat layer though eating clean. Rice should lift and eat to maintain, not bulk.

Bulking by eating crap is stupid anyway. ALL CALORIES ARE NOT EQUAL!!!!

. I disagree with your opinion Rice had a good game despite the weather Gino did very well too .

Any running back in the NFL should hit holes and get chunk yards vs that Chicago defense and the holes that were created.

Rice runs slow, but because he has a little in the tank as a quick-twitch runner, he can fool your eye.

Good game =/= his former excellence.

Ray Rice is not RR of any year prior. Injury or not.

Which one? Can you say, contradiction?

I choose number 2.  RR, will not comeback in 2014 with that weight. Book it.

He's talented, but slowwwww.  Done trying to prove my point.

I'm happy as anything for Ray Rice.  It was great to see him running with authority once again. Hopefully he can stack some games like this.

Point is he was fast enough getting through the holes cause the line did its job.

Even if you look at Ray Rice highlights from his past glory he has been caught from behind many of times.

Well....football players since college have had access to nutritionist and weight & conditioning coaches for free so he should be optimized. Besides People don't store fat the same anyways. I'm sure he's 15% fat tops and we need a RB not a body builder....just saying. Plus Ray Rice ain't have conditioning issues like jacoby jones to start the season.

If you're done, you cannot play like Ray played today. Still our best weapon, hopefully O-line can improve even more on what they did today, which was by far their best showing this season and pretty decent game overall.

Guess we all have egg in our face now...

Not me. When you get hit in the backfield 1/2 the time and line of scrimmage it's the lines fault. I blamed the line since day one...don't know what games the most of y'all been watching. People wanted Rice to burst through imaginary holes and if they closed turn into a battering Ram like Jerome Bettis, haha.

I'm with you. Though to be fair, RR didn't do anything until this week, even when he got openings.

Keep ray, get rid of Flacco....

Let the bashing begin, but there is a fine line between elite quarterbacks and sub-par.

Do you think the Green Bay, Broncos, Patriot, and Saints fan constantly debate against each other if their QB is elite...whether their line is playing well or not? No they do not...because they know for a fact.  We still don't know, but we pay him the same amount of money, hoping that somehow money will make him elite.

In a sloppy game rbs have the advantage over tacklers. They know where they're going but defenders have to plant and try to react with terrible footing. Rice played well but I'm reserving the right to keep my opinion until I see a game on a good field. How many games has rice looked off?

Now he plays well in a game that he most certainly should, and somehow that's definitive that he's not what he used to be? He may be fine but this game didn't prove it.

Joe is Joe, dont think anything will change about him. To many things have to be prefect inorder for him to have a good game.....

same here, now he needs to take this game to the next level vs the jets' D (first in run D?)

Back to the same old song and dance this past week with Ray Rice. How many games will it take before we all understand that he is finished. Of course our sentiments are with him but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's probably a duck. In this case Ray Rice is the duck.

idk,he did show a little burst against da bears,(I know it's da bears) and did not show up again with the jets,if I was the gm I would trade him , I would not wait till next year to see if it is him or the line get something now and get another back in the draft

agreed-and even taking a salary cap hit with guaranteed money he still might have some trade value. Yes he did have a few good runs against the Bears but it was more because it was a runners field. Even on the long run he appeared to run out of gas at the end of the play and basically fell down. I don't care what anyone says about line blocking or changes in blocking schemes-he used to be able to bounce it outside and quick cut into space. Now he just falls down and goes boom.

I don't see us getting rid of Rice any time soon, but his days as a feature back are numbered.   Whether it's Pierce or another back, I think someone else will be taking the majority of the carries in 2014.

Wouldn't be surprised if we drafted someone. Pierce is injury prone, and remember how we drafted Rice when we still had McGahee? I think, with Rice going into his last year on the deal, we draft someone in the first four rounds to take the load.
