Should we get rid of Ray Rice?

321 posts in this topic

Ray Rice has become the new Shaun Alexander. I am disgusted by his 1 yard run and fall down plays. Should we just cut him and cut our losses? He is hurting this football team in so many ways.

If we get rid of Ray i would like Flacco to follow.  We over paid both players.  You can add Haloti to the list also.

First let's get rid of Ron Rivera and his zone blocking, let's put a man on man. Every analyst in every media can see it is not working.

Let's not start name calling on Rice man, that's just disrespectful. He's given us everything he can, even though it's no longer much for him to give.

I can understand wanting to get rid of him but calling him a sellout? what the hell?

SMH

I didn't think our front office had control over the Panthers staff.

Ray Rice is on decline. I saw holes he could have run through or cut back. Instead he runs right into a huge cluster.

Get your head out of your ___!  Ray Rice is not the issue..... Juan Castillo is!  Why do you change the scheme of a line thats been dominant for past few years, and for Gods sake, Ray Rice has carried this offense for the past 3-4 years! When you remove Matt Birk from the equation, and add a horrible coach (castillo) who tries to fix things that aren't broken on top of it, this is the outcome!

Fire Castillo, get the line back to firing off of the ball and/or elimate the bull ____ "castillo zone scheme," and Rice will eat defenses up just as hes done in years past.......

We can just cut him. It's not disrespectful. He is disrespecting our whole football team playing like this. He is hurting morale and making us look weak. Better to take the salary hit and not have to pay him 1 more dollar. He isn't worth it!! Just cut him already,

Ron Rivera?

If he's on the payroll then I want him fired as well.  If they're paying him and he still leads the Panthers to a win over the Ravens, he's not doing his job.

So many problems with this comment. Guess what - if we signed Adrian Peterson or Marshawn Lynch you'd see the same result.

I wouldn't get rid of Ray Rice before I got rid of Jim Caldwell & Juan Castillo. It would be more expensive for us to rid ourselves of Rice than those guys. Perhaps a better coach can scheme better and actually get the run game going. We have a good OL & a good RB. We shouldn't be this ineffective and now I'm putting the blame on the coaches as well. I've blamed the poor execution of the players on the players, but this continuum of poor play can't continue. It's easier to replace coaches than players, especially ones that cost as much as Rice.

We'd need to redo his contract, or convince another team to take on the ridiculous amount of money that would otherwise turn into dead cap. And honestly, who would take him?

....But he's a power runner that excels behind a Fullback and then explodes in the open field.

Yes we ran zone in the past to break things up...but that's not the vision Ray Rice has...nor the strength of our team.

We can't even do that.  We've already paid out his bonus.  It's stuck on our cap.

Flacco's contract is going to sink this teams playoff chances for years.  He is not worth the coin. I'd love to see the Raven float him around the league this offseason and if there are no takers cut the cord and hit the reset button.

How much sense does that make? Should they get rid of him and then sign Brandon Weeden?

Even if the front office was smart enough to acquiesce to his asking price of $17m a year back in summer 2012, he'd still be a huge cap hit.

Leach was only in one or two plays. Rice didn't/doesn't have the lead blocker he is accustomed to running behind at all this season.

Ray Rice has had a lot of touches over the last five years.  Look at the other guys he got drafted with:  Forte, Chris Johnson, McFadden, Felix Jones, Mendenhall, Charles.  All of them are declining backs at this point.  At 26, it's already time to think about replacing him.

at the rate things are going, Leach will be gone this season. We may even look for a different style of running back soon
