Week 9 - Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns

2,670 posts in this topic

well said I see the rest of the season playing exactly as you laid it out.

Honestly I see the rest of the season playing out really well for the Ravens. So much so that I feel the Pats vs Ravens game will be a battle for a #2 seed. I'm admittedly a very optimistic person by nature and some might see this as "drinking the Purple Kool-aid" but I've been saying for weeks that this offense is right on the cusp of breaking out and when they do watch out NFL. I really think the bye will do wonders for the team and just give them a renewed energy and focus.

As I said before, as doom and gloom as many make this season out to be, the Ravens are actually in good position and if they can string together a few wins it'll be great position.

We actually catch a break by 3 of the top teams in the AFC all being in the same division thus far. Den, KC and SD, only the division winner would get a top seed. Then you look at the South and the Colts are the only legit team, I really like Luck but it'll be interesting to see how they respond to losing Reggie. Then on to the East and while NE seems ripe for the picking, the Dolphins, Jets nor Bills are consistent or good enough to over throw them. If the Ravens go on a run, this division is no threat. So that leaves the North and again, I strongly feel the Ravens are in prime position to take the crown for a 3rd straight year.

I think we could really be looking at the last two games of the season as games that could lock up a #2 seed, with the potential of being one home playoff win away from being right back in the AFC Championship game for a 3rd straight year. This is truly what I see, but of course it'll be one game at a time starting with the Browns.

everybody's a critic these days lol... as per the words of famous Winnie Woodpecker

I like it. Keeps the water theme, it's a pool for the birds and changes it up to attempt to change the season's direction.

Not like the pool has been working so great!

I can't sleep. I've been sitting up watching highlights from last year's playoff run. It still amazes me that my Ravens not only played on Super Bowl Sunday, but won the darned thing. Joe Flacco was absolutely amazing in the postseason.

In terms of this game against Cleveland, I have a good feeling. This game will be the beginning of a nice run back to the postseason. Let's go get em!

This would be awesome, but no record worse than 11-5 will get us a #2 seed. Which means we would have to go 8-1 from here on out to have a chance. I agree that we can take this division, but a #2 seed is highly unlikely.

I am the exact same way you probably won't find a bigger homer on this planet then I am . I love purple kool aide. I see improvement every week and if rumors are correct I see our offense changing in a big way the rest of the  games this year. The defense as well. I am excited to see how  the next 9 weeks play out and into the post season .

How does everyone feel about AQ Shipley? In my opinion I think he looked okay at the Dolphins as LG.

He had decent moments in the dolphins game but overall not so hot at all

Hopefully practice and being prepared to step into the role helps him play better

That, but also the game our offence had at Heinz Field *spits*. I know we didn't win, but I really think we showed flashes of doing what works for us. Joe's short passing game spread the Steelers out in the box and Ray was able to break off some big runs when they least expected. For all the talk of "the run setting up the pass", it really works the other way for us right now.

I think the great thing about this bye week is that we actually have some success to really build off, rather than a (rather long) list of what's been crap for us so far.

A few days back, I said on another forum that if we win tomorrow, the game at the Bank is for the driver's seat of the AFC North. That's the call I'm sticking with. I'm gutted I'll be missing this one live because of a job interview, but you can bet your life I'll be racing home to catch it.

We all do that. I "reversed it" for you. Hopefully in the next update they'll move the arrows farther away form the edge.

Can't wait!!! Need some good Ravens football today.

I'm not going to give a score because I too am superstitious, and it hasn't worked this year.

It won't be an easy game but we'll get the job done.

I'm expecting another low-scoring affair. That's how Ravens-Browns usually goes. Which would mean that even with a win, the Ravens would probably be underdogs against Cincy next week. Excellent.

This game will be won or lost with our O-line's performance, period.

Agreed. Our O line needs to show up today, and for the remainder of the season. If it happens, all will be good.

I don't think it's that unlikely as a lot of our tough games are at home. But it all starts today. Without a win and this team starting to look like we all though they could look this season, nothing else matters

A lot of the potential first round bye scenarios have to do with how the Colts play without Wayne.  They look like they could grab one of the top two seeds if they keep up their play, especially since their division schedule is starting to look a lot easier than anticipated before the season started.

Yea I agree with the improvement every week. We played really well against the Steelers just didn't have a lot of opportunities (only 7 offensive possessions) and didn't capitalize on the few opportunities we did have (Joe missing JJ). But overall I thought the oline was much better and Monroe is starting to get more comfortable.

I think the key to the defense improving, which let's be honest despite not getting the ball back at the end in the last two games, have played well; is Flacco and the offense. If we get back that playoff offense scoring 24-29ppg this defense would be vicious imo. We are designed to be a bend but don't break style defense and much like say the old Colts or Saints, it works best when you force a team to play from behind.

I can't wait to see this game because I think today will be the first time we really look like a complete team and start to put things together. Plus it means we are one week closer to getting the white TE back.

couldn't agree more. I think the self scouting of this team is great and one of the reasons we've never lost after a bye under Harbs. The self scouting imo will be great because we'll see exactly what you just said, we need to Pass to step up the Run.

Use the short passing game as an extension of the run game so the 2-3 gains by Rice and BP won't hurt as much. If you can pick up 4 yards on a first down pass, Now a 2yd run still puts your offense in a 3rd and 4 situation instead of 3rd and 10+. Now you put so much pressure on the defense because they can't just lock in on one area of our offense. This also makes Caldwell a much better play caller.

For all the screams about Flacco not being worth the money. It'll be exactly Flacco who gets this team back to the playoffs. Put the game in his hands and get out of the way.

Oh yea definitely. Even without Reggie they have a seemingly favorable schedule and I think their defense is good enough to keep them in games even if Luck struggles a bit. I really like that team and in no way discounting their chance of being a top seed. I just wanna see them without Reggie.

I think that would actually be a pretty good matchup between Flacco and Luck in the playoffs again. Starting today going forward a lot will be said about who the Ravens are as they prove to still be among the top teams.

100 rushing yards. Will it happen?

It's going to be tough against the Brown's D-Line, might require a little trickery instead of straight grit up the middle.

Can we get a blow out? Haven't had a blowout win in a while.

Jason Campbell is the key to this possibility.  Enough three-and-out's from their offense and that defense of their should start wearing down in the 3rd quarter.

Hopefully with enough rest and us getting healthier(with the exception of KO, and Oher if I'm correct), possibly.

But the oline has a tough task today
