Ravens trying to land a WR before trade deadline?

212 posts in this topic

I've been saying it for the last 3 years. Just go get me Megatron!!!!!!!!!

I'm willing to mortgage the future for a Flacco to Megatron connection and 3 Superbowl rings. =D

3 1st, 2nds and a 2020 3rd? Make it happen Ozzie!

Please dear god let us get Gordon

We would be fondled out of our draft picks if the Browns even considered trading within the division. Not going to happen, Captain.

I agree but on this forum being 'realistic' is seen as being fair weather or pessimistic but the divison is getting out of reach, the Bengals have looked great and people on this forum seem to think you can go from playing horrble football to winning 8 games in a row. It doesn't happen in the NFL.

I'm not saying he will finish 6-10 or so but this season is def void of a deep playoff run and being a middle of road team is a deathly trap.

I'm not saying the Ravens don't have a chance still. The Bengals lost Hall and Maualuga (?) for awhile, so they might be weak. But whether we win it all, or we finish bottom of the division, I'd love for the Ravens to be loaded with picks for this year's draft. There are so many good players that can be better and far cheaper than the FA's we might lose in the next few years.

Browns will never trade with the Ravens. Especially Gordon. How bout this scenario? Make a deal with another team to trade for Gordon and then we can make a deal with that team for him. ie  An NFC team like Vikings or Eagles can trade for him with an understanding that we will trade for him.

The article from La Canfora says we're deep in talks about landing a WR.  Interesting to me.  I don't think WR is an issue at all.  Brown and Doss are stepping up next to Torrey.  Jacoby is working his way back into the rotation.  Deonte is good depth.  I can't picture this happening.

i dont c anymore moves unless its for a Center, i doubt we're trading for a WR, unless the cards will eat most of larry's salary for this year.

How about Tony Gonzalez? He said he came out of the retirement to have a shot at a SB, not a shot at a couch.  His last chance to win the SB is coming tomorrow, and I think we need a sure-handed TE with strong route-running and a lock down for 3rd down.  Joe can use of him until Pitta is back; when he's back, we can use 2 TE sets which is a nightmare for any opposing LB in the NFL.

For cap space, I'm pretty sure Tony cares most about SB ring than pocket change at this latest stage of his HOF career.

Ozzie, make it happened....

Yeah, I understand what you're saying but it depends on what the compensation is. Hell, Britt could tear it up with Joe. We don't know. If the compensation is low I have no problem with it.

Britt hasn't had the best QB throwing to him either. That's not exactly an excuse but it's a reality that needs to be considered. The problem is the Titans don't need any OL from what I can see. They need a QB. Unless we traded them Tyrod then I can't imagine anyone we could afford to send them.

If we're giving up Tyrod Taylor I want at least a first round pick in return.

Kenny Britt and his attitude and knee problems? No Thanks

Nicks and his injury concerns and looming contract? No Thanks

Josh Gordon and his substance abuse problems? Possibly but Browns would never trade to division rival (imo)

Jon Baldwin who the Chiefs traded after deciding he was a bust and now the Niners don't want him? Stone Hands

Greg little is another stone hands, he is one of the reasons Baltimore beat Cleveland (last year I think)

Britt is garbage, no one wants him not even for a 7th round pick, the guy drops too many balls and in trouble with the law,

I actually hope we don't trade for anyone now, unless it's a player for player thing (but even then...). I really like the WRs available in this year's draft (Watkins, Lee, Matthews) and I think what we have this year will be fine.

Like someone else said, I wouldn't mind selling a player or two. Maybe Ozzie was playing some jedi mind tricks and is trying to get rid of a receiver for a higher price ("ahhhhh, I might part with Jacoby but we're looking pretty hard for a receiver ourselves. We'd need a pretty high pick....").

i can see us trading for a center or TE, a TE like Rudolph from vikings, that's a possibility, vikings need alot draft picks,

Only wr on the market I would want is Josh Gordon and the price is probably already too high before you consider we are also division rivals. No "Ozzie Special" to be had with Gordon. Nicks been playing worse and worse, not a believer in him enough to fork over draft picks, although a good deal could be potentially had, I don't think we're biting. Britt is a guy I wanted to trade for around draft time, too late now imo. If he had a full camp with us and had a whole year as a Raven we could get a clear idea if he had a future with us. We waited too long and now a trade for Britt would be pretty pointless.

If we made a move when all the other teams were bolstering their offenses we wouldn't be in this position now and I was worried about this back in April even before Pitta went down. We're extremely fortunate we even got Marlon out of the UDFA pool because without landing him the FO would be taking even more heat about ignoring the offense in the draft/FA

While a dependable TE may still be a need, I doubt Gonzalez would go anywhere at this point.

Ozzie needs to send the scouts to NCAA round ball games to find our next TE. :D

If we were to trade for a WR it would be the oddest move in history. I just don't see it.

Yeah Jim owes us.... Vernon Davis for free lol.

Lol, hey, for our 6th round pick that we received from them as a refund deal, I'd do it.

A lot of speculation around the web but anything concrete? I don't see us doing it.

In season trades are rare, especially for this team. LT this year being the exception.

We finally have a pretty decent corps of WR's, and we still have Mellette on IR for next year with tons of potential as well, I just can't buy into this trade speculation at WR, imo...but then again alot of the personel decisions we have made this off-season have baffled me to this point so who knows, lol.

I think we would be better served to look for a TE or OL at this point.

I would laugh so hard. The media darling Falcons defeated and dismantled.

I mean, we aren't much better right now then the Falcons, so I doubt he would come here.

It would kinda be cool to see him finish his career in KC....

Agreed. If he went there, and the Ravens are out of it I would be rooting hard for him.

A new WR is NOT going to help us. Joe doesn't have time to throw. The line is the problem......why isn't anyone getting this? If Joe can't throw the ball, and the receivers don't have time to get open, we are gonna fail either way. Like is said before, trade Juan Castillo for a washing machine and some jumbo imitation crab meat!

Actually a washing machine could do me some good.

I know the oline is the problem, but if someone gives you a reasonable offer for a good weapon you take it
