Ravens trying to land a WR before trade deadline?

The article from La Canfora says we're deep in talks about landing a WR.  Interesting to me.  I don't think WR is an issue at all.  Brown and Doss are stepping up next to Torrey.  Jacoby is working his way back into the rotation.  Deonte is good depth.  I can't picture this happening.

Maybe we're going to send a player. I can't imagine we would give up our 1st, 2nd or 3rd round picks. We have that 6th rounder but eh. I guess if we can do it why not. Perhaps we're going to trade one of our guys.

I would think O-line would be a better option to upgrade?

You'd think but John Harbaugh said he likes our guys so maybe he doesn't see personnel as the issue. Also, outside of a center I'm not sure there's anyone worth getting. If we did get a center then I'd question how quickly they can learn the playbook.

I personally think the center ship has sailed.

The only realistic move I could see is Britt for a 6th if they really wanted to get rid of him.  Otherwise, I don't see any of those guys as realistic options pick-wise.  Little and Baldwin could probably be had for low-round picks, but neither would improve on what we already have.

Well, wait. Thinking outside the box here but perhaps we trade Michael Oher for a WR? Just trying to imagine a scenario here but we could trade him to a team hard up for a RT such as Seattle or New York Giants. That's obviously two examples but Oher has had a spotty year so far with some good and some bad. We'd also save some money by trading him. He's also in the final year of his deal.

I don't know. Just speculation. I just don't see the ammo to make a trade unless we trade a player in their final year such as Oher or someone else.

Yeah I don't really get this at all. Until the season begun I was saying this was a need for us but now I have changed my opinion after seeing Marlon Brown shine, Doss play better, and Jacoby healthy again...

I would love Josh Gordon but the browns wouldn't trade him to us even if it was a first rounder..

Otherwise I can't really put my finger on what we're missing besides O-line performance...which isn't a good sign...

I agree with trading Oher to the Giants who really need OT badly.  I think that's possible....

I don't think Ozzie wants to bring Jacoby back cuz he's costly.....

WE have an abundance of wr's could we be trading one for a position of need

May be next year, couple good games won't justify anything about their abilities and consistency.  We threw Doss out in the market and no team had taken a sniff at him.

Doss is obviously looking much improved; I like to see his improvement and consistency.....

I didn't think we needed another wr everyone seems to be improving and clicking recently. That's why I thought we would be trading one . I like Doss I am glad he is finally showing how good he can be .

I mean, I don't see WR as a major need, but it definitely couldn't hurt.

I try to be a common sense fan in FO perspective about cap space, but I can't resist the big time WR like Fitz or something...lol

But, if we have to choose the best Center and the best WR; I'll take Center in a heartbeat as I know my team too well....

I love to see holes opening up for RBs and the time for Joe to finish up his breakfast in the pocket before picking apart the opposing defense......I know it's exaggerating (lol) but an extra sec will make a major difference and turnaround in a game...

Kenny Britt and his attitude and knee problems? No Thanks

Nicks and his injury concerns and looming contract? No Thanks

Josh Gordon and his substance abuse problems? Possibly but Browns would never trade to division rival (imo)

Jon Baldwin who the Chiefs traded after deciding he was a bust and now the Niners don't want him? Stone Hands

Greg little is another stone hands, he is one of the reasons Baltimore beat Cleveland (last year I think)

I strongly believe Gordon goes to San Francisco. I believe since the Chiefs won 8 games that compensatory pick they traded to San Fran for Alex Smith becomes a second rounder in 2014 and they will ship it to cleveland.

I know their last names are the same but he's talking about Doug Baldwin from Seattle. Not Jon Baldwin from San Francisco.

Can't imagine anything big happening. Ozzie would have to give up high draft picks as well as giving out a big time contract down the road.

Would much rather just stick with who we have (WR has been the least of our worries lately) and continue to build through the draft, which is loaded at WR this year.

I don't really see the need for another WR when our young one's are just starting to come into their own, this is the last thing i expected if anything i thought our current wide receiver core was one of our biggest strengths.

How about james hanna(TE) from cowboys?

He was primed to take over wittens spot, until witten started producing this year. His julius orange 2.0

It means that they know they CANT fix the run game in one move. So pass, pass, pass. I like it. BUT Wouldnt sell the farm to do it. Maybe Blackmon? Could be had cheap. They upgraded with Monroe to throw. The Ravens are a passing team as we saw in post season last year.

I don't see a need for WR.

Might as well play with our current roster and give people a chance. No sense in getting things all mixed up and losing potential draft picks for someone that may or may not help us.

It would almost have to be a player for player trade. We already have a ton of WRs on the team and they all have contributed to some degree this year. We can't fit another one and I'd hate to just release a guy.

I actually hope we don't do anything.

well Stokley was more off the roster for games than on so... I wouldn't say no to either Britt or Nicks if the price is OZ approved.

I would love to do a sign and trade for Hakeem Nicks if we were not so cap strapped right now, especially because Nicks is having a down year so we could sign him for cheaper than he is truly worth.

On a more realistic note I would love to get maybe Fred Davis or Marcades Lewis for a 3rd or 4th rounder...Davis has been inactive (healthy scratch) the past couple weeks so we could probably get him for a bag of footballs.

Overall I like to hear that our front office is FINALLY realizing that our team needs more dependable weapons for Flacco, and hopefully it will carry into the offseason so we can come out with a loaded arsenal next year.

I read this on home page. And I don't feel WR is an immediate need we have had good production from the WRs and they are improving weekly and guys are getting healthier.

Improving the TE would be great, but there has been news that Pitta could make a return this season.

But Oline is the position of interest, improvement from the Oline and Flacco will have more time to get the current WRs even more production and better Oline play leads to better run game which improves the passing game as well.
