Pumpkin Patch

20 posts in this topic

All right, so I thought I'd be a good mom and surprise the boys with a visit to the pumpkin patch this afternoon. Husband's working, thought it'd just be something fun for the four of us (mother's staying with us but gone until Monday) to do. We picked up my oldest from school, and we drove over to Cockeysville at a patch that I was told is very nice. It was very nice, and I am glad we went to that one. However, if you were at that particular patch around 4:00 this afternoon, I am the mother whose sons ran around the patch like they had never been civilized in their entire lives. I was also the mother whose newborn decided to throw a giant crying fit because he likes to be held all the time and not confined to a wrap on my stomach. And, I am also the mother whose toddler and whose 5-year-old threw a huge tantrum right in front of the check-out line because their pumpkins weren't as cool as their 3-month-old brother's (who I picked out and specifically told the older boys I would help them choose theirs too. They didn't listen of course, so I can't be blamed for picking out a nice pumpkin when they didn't.) Yep, that was me. I'm sorry if any of you guys were there. ;) Never again without my husband. Never again. :(

Gotta love them kids.  Have fun with the pumpkins!  Here's our front porch!

Aw, I love it! :) My husband got home at 8:00. I let him carve, and I also pretty much put him in charge of bedtime too! ;) I'm spent.

Every year we buy ten pumpkins, watch "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" while we gut & carve our pumpkins (two each).  This year, one of the pumpkins didn't make it.  I've got lots of baked pumpkin seeds though.  Mmm-boy!!

(Why are the husbands always in charge of bedtime?)

If you had to ask, you know why. ;) My own actually really enjoys it. It's his own father-son bonding time with the boys. He'll airplane them into their bedrooms and read them stories. I was told once by my oldest that I wasn't a fun goodnight person because I make him brush their teeth and go to the bathroom. I thought, and your father doesn't?!?

Mod 3! You've been holding out on us!  I keep seeing people with these stenciled on pumpkins and kept wondering where they were getting them, I just figured it was a Baltimore thing.  Nice to see next year I can stencil me some Ravens pumpkins and really tick off the home team fans in Indiana. :D

I know exactly what you mean.  When I put the kids to bed... there's "bedtime", which is heads on pillows... then there's BEDTIME which is lights out and sleeping.  There's about an hour difference between bedtime and BEDTIME.  Bedtime usually involves reading or talking.

Holding out? Not me. All you needed to do was look at the top of the page.

Seriously people, if you don't go "full site" at least once a day, you miss out on a lot of good stuff.

I couldn't find a pumpkin patch except Baughers I could not believe Spring Meadows Farms closed

Valley View Farms on York Rd. If it's not considered a patch, sorry! It's a nursery, but it has a ton of pumpkins! :)

Nice Pumpkin CRP-- not sure I have the patience this year and as always it's warming up for Halloween.

Edit: you should upload it to the fan gallery for prizes
