Week 8 Discussion (Other Games)

463 posts in this topic

I guess this will be the primary thread with the Ravens on a Bye this week. Week 8 starts off with a NFC South clash between the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Schainos. Reports coming out that this may be it for Greg and his firing could come sooner rather than later.

Other Key Games This week:

- Dolphins @ New England: Patriots are 5-2, Dolphins 3-3. A win by the Dolphins would help their cause in the AFC East. A Patriots win will help a bit but dropping two division games in a row will hurt more than anything.

- Cowboys @ Lions: Both teams are 4-3 and are looking to remain in the hunt for their respective divisions.

- Giants @ Eagles: As we know, Dallas leads the division at 4-3, Eagles are 3-4, and Washington is 2-4. Giants are 1-6, so it's a wide open division. If the Eagles can win, and Dallas loses, they will be in a 4-4 tie for first. Though if the Giants win, they go to 2-6, Eagles drop to 3-5, and well they can still win the East.

- Jets @ Bengals: The Bengals D shut out Tom Brady, the same Tom Brady that lost to the Jets in OT. This will be a real test to determine if the Bengals are real or not.

Panthers strike first, Panthers lead 7-0 after Newton found a wide open Greg Olsen in the end zone.

I think another year but he needs some weapons to play with .

Williams and VJax is not enough?

They could use a security blanket TE, a TE in general actually.

I  would draft one in rd 2 if I were them, depending on who's there.

Forgive me if this comes off as a stupid question, but how are the Bucs so bad?  I mean I know some reasons why I think they're bad, and for me it has to fall on the coaches.  They do so many things that are just wrong schematically on both sides of the ball.  I think they have a lot of talent and should be better than their record shows.  V-Jax, Lavonte David, Revis, and a few of their lineman on both sides are good football players, and Glennon was at the top of my QB rankings in the last class.  I don't think they should be winless right now.

It's really all because of Schiano. And maybe the MRSA infection played a role? I know it mightily affected Carl Nicks. It also affected Jonathan Banks, two key players right there.

If someone were to tell me a defense featuring Mark Barron, Dashon Goldson, Revis, Mason Foster, Lavonte David, Gerald McCoy, and Adrian Clayborn would be winless after 7 games (before the start of the season), I'd be laughing.

They would be enough for Joe ,,,, this is the first time I have ever watched the Bucs except for the preseason game we played against them .

I don't see how pundits say Glennon is like Flacco, maybe size wise but I'm not seeing any other likenesses . I agree the Bucs shouldn't be this bad

They have allot of talent on the Bucs  on both sides of the ball Maybe Glennon is the answer he hasn't played poorly and he can lite it up .Joe is more polished etc.

I can't believe that this win tonight in 2013, will be the first time the Panthers will have been over .500 since 2008.

Garbage yards and points. You may have lost but you can go home and tell mom you had a good game.

I hope the entire AFC north loses this weekend  help us out a little .

Not highly likely. Pittsburg is playing the Raiders. I seriously think we'll be tied with them coming put of our bye.

True but that's almost a divisional game with the history between those teams. They hate each other and I can see the Raiders defeat them.

Steelers are playing with a lot of confidence now and the Raiders are not good. As much as I'll be a Raiders fan this weekend, we never seem to get any help from other teams. Good grief, even the Packers rolled over for the Bengals.

Raiders are a lot better than given credit for
They would be 4-2 if Pryor played vs Redskins and had they been able to capitaliZe on the game winning drive vs Indy on 1st and goal

Yeah I hear you. The Raiders are better than their record shows and Pittsburgh is going to the west coast and that's not easy. I think it's possible that Pryor could lead them to an upset similar to Tebow in the playoffs. I don't think it's guaranteed but I think there's at least a 50% chance they could. It could go either way. The question is if the Raiders want to play for a high pick because it seems pretty obvious they won't make the playoffs in their division.
