Bye Week thoughts

49 posts in this topic

Give the players a week off. They need some R & R. This is not the time to panic. The Browns can be game planned while they seek treatments.

KC and Denver have one WC sewn up. We need to got 6-3 to finish 9-7. The Ravens need two wins for very loss. The Bengals are pulling away.

One win at  a time.

Put TS back in the slot. He is still not a #1. At 4-6, the season is over.

You say it isn't time to panic but the overall mood of your post seems...panicky, if not urgent. But I agree completely. We have to seal up the division and it's still entirely possible. Tough schedule right out of the gate though, at Browns, Bengals, at Bears, Jets, Steelers. We will really have to be firing on all cylinders to get through that stretch

Can we bring in a few players to workout during the Bye week to see if we can sign them to some cheap deals and restructure a lot of deals within the organization to fit and adjust under the cap structure and put every player on notice by taking away their bonuses and guaranteed money so it would be better if we decided to trade players as for players to bring in include
DeWayne Cherrington
Jake Ballard
Moe Lee

I could be wrong but I don't think you can take away "guaranteed money' contracts don't work that way . Bonuses based on performance won't be earned if the players don't meet the criteria. I think the bye should be used to work on execution and rest players who have lingering injury issues . I also don't see allot of  deals being reworked.

after bye week, what we need to do is

  • play more 3 WRs sets,
  • more deep ball,
  • just let flacco sling down field to our speedsters,
  • spread defenses out and run it.

I'll tell you this... I didn't even hear Jimmy Smiths name yesterday. For a corner, that usually says he was good.

Doesn't matter. There was that play he gave up three weeks ago. Stop being a homer.

Lol! Is it just a coincidence that the same people who are trying to run Harbs out of town are the ones who say things like "Torrey still isn't a #1 put him in the slot"?

I think the bye will be more beneficial to the coaches then the players honestly. We paid so much attention to how chemistry for all the new players would be important this year, but I think we missed the same point for the coaches. I'm wondering with so many great coaches in their own rights, just how many voices are being heard?

Who's the oline "Voice" from the coaching stand point

Who's the Dline "voice" from the coaching stand point?

How many coaches have input on the offensive game plan?

Is this a case of over coaching? Too often we see guys just miss an assignment and sometimes having more then one voice in your head can do that. The talent on this team is here. I still feel that we are a much more talent team that won the Super Bowl last year and went to the Championship in 2011. I just think about Varsity Blues when Mox had to be told....Stick to the Basic...Stick to the Basic.

It seems like we are trying to hard to be all things. The best Passing team, the best rushing team, the best run stopping defense, the best pass defense, the best ST and guys just seem to be pressing honestly. imho opinion, we won the Super Bowl last year because we played strong up front on both the o and d lines, we allowed Flacco to sit back in the pocket and be a stud. Get back to it and we'll be fine. I think the coaches will see this in self scouting.

We lost to one of the worst teams in the NFL.  Not the Bills, but one of the worst.  And we barely got pressure on Big Ben.  And once again, the defense could not stop a late minute drive.  I was hoping for OT.  Our defense prevented otherwise.  I don't think we improved.

You think record means anything when the Ravens-Steelers meet? Most of the games have been decided by 3 points since Flacco joined the Ravens. Some we win some we lose but most are decided around 3 points. Steelers could go 0-15 and play the Ravens like it was the dang SB in the final game.
