Bump N Run

Why does the offense refuse to take more shots down field?

While I applaud what I perceived to be more attempts to get the ball downfield yesterday, I am becoming more and more concerned with Joe's propensity to underthrow open receivers outside of the ball that went off of Torrey's fingertips. This was one of Joe's strengths in the past.

While it was windy yesterday, I've noticed this all season. Jacoby has outran coverage on multiple occasions this year, but has had to slow down and wait for the ball allowing coverage to close.........which resulted in an always welcomed PI flag.

I made the excuse earlier this season for Joe about the lack of protection, but when he did have time he under threw or threw behind open receivers. If protection is the problem, then why don't they roll Joe out of the pocket?

He threw the ball well on the run yesterday.

I rather him overthrow than underthrow. Usually that means our guys have outran everyone and an incomplete won't necessarily mean a picked ball. I think he just err on the side of thinking "I have fast guys, I'll let them run for it and just heave it" rather than the other way around.

Disappointing because you know he's got the arm, he just can't be shy about it.

But I know there's multiple things that factor in deep plays, so it;s not as easy as just one or two things.
