Hakeem Nicks Trade Speculation

16 posts in this topic

First off, let me just say that I know that bleacher report is not a reputable site. However, I just saw this pop up, and I wanted to share it here, in case someone else hasn't heard about it yet. Now, let me clarify and say that a trade involving Nicks is not likely. However, as it has been thrown out there, I deem it necessary to at least have a thread for it. If this is in the wrong place, or if this has already been discussed elsewhere, then mods, please delete/merge this thread to the existing one.

Myself, I don't see the need for Nicks. We have a good stable of young receivers who need to continue to develop by gaining reps in real games. They have all flashed potential. Plus, our cap situation may render this rumor impossible from the get-go. But here it is. What are your thoughts?

I just don't see that happening. Not with out Receivers getting healthier and us approaching the bye week.

And if it is worth anything at all, people who have ties to NYG said they have no interest in trading him. Nor should they...

Before anyone jumps on me about saying I want Nicks, or am suggesting that a trade for Nicks is even possible, please read the two paragraphs I have typed up in my original post, especially the second one.

Yeah I'm not really sure if it would make sense at this point.  They're said to be looking to get a 3rd for him, which I highly doubt Ozzie would do.  We've already given up a 4th and 5th.  Even if they back down off of their asking price, I seriously doubt a 6th would get it done.  Add in the fact that our receivers are showing some progress, most notably Brown and Doss, and I don't see how he fits.

I know this point has been stated over-and-over, again; but, the Ravens are actually deep at the wide receiver position. Smith, Brown, Doss, Thompson and even J.J. (whether or not he leaves as a free agent) are a young group that Joe Flacco will make thrive for the foreseeable future.

Yes, I realize this is Bleacher Report... err, "article". However, bringing-in Hakeem Nicks won't help this offense, at all. The problems start with philosophy and execution to use these players in the right way and figuring out when to use which play, as well as deciding on the tempo that best suits Baltimore's offense. Sure, the offensive line problems have been brought-up countless times; yet, no team is without their flaws and the best teams are the ones can work-around such negatives.

I, in no way, believe Nicks will make a difference for the Ravens. Then again, such a trade was never going to happen; so, there's that.

We're not going to trade for Hakeem Nicks, it's pointless.  Some other team might though.  I thought I saw a reputable source throwing the fact that he's on the block around the other day though, not just BR.

This deep in the season, it would take just too much time to train him up and get him aclimated with Joe. We will have to wait until the draft to get a new WR.

I'm content with our receivers. Tandon Doss is finally starting to show his potential, Torrey is Torrey, Marlon Brown is developing nicely, Deonte is a threat if he can stay healthy, and Jacoby looked like a true number 2 out there this Sunday.

If you hear about a center on the market let me know. Now that would be something to get excited about.

We should have IR'd Jensen and signed Velasco.

I'm not saying that I'm case you feel like I implied it. Hopefully not. I think you understand my intentions but just in case what could we give them for Nicks? I'm doubtful we'd be able to give them 2015 draft picks nor would we want to do that. I don't see any players we could trade. I'm just at a loss.

I agree with your stand point fully. I wasn't referencing you in any way. Nor was I referring to anyone else who had/has already posted in this thread. I was just using that as a disclaimer, just in case somebody who wants to troll used it against me.
