its the scheme people, castillo was implementing some kind of inside blocking scheme, anyway its not the players,  you can see if one player is struggling, but this is the whole Oline is struggling bad, i mean on every play no matter what it is there was always 2-3 packers in backfield, so its not one player thing its a scheme thing it seems to me, because all sudden everybody can't block or struggling at the same time, that's crazy, heck even Yanda and leach are struggling, if we go back to what ever blocking scheme we we're doing in playoffs last year, i think it would b better than this.

Did anyone notice with Shipley in the game against the Dolphins last week the line did WAY better?  They rushed the ball last week for 133 yards (the highest all season, and only time over 100 yards this year).  It's obvious he makes the line better.  Why the coaches continue to not play him is beyond me!

So true, and we have to wonder why Deonte Thompson is always the odd man out, when we have healthy Wr's. To me he has more potential then Doss. Doss did look good yesterday though.

It is because Gino is not on the same page when it comes to protection and timing. His timing is off, so it throws the rest of the line off. He is the foundation of the line. Or I guess maybe the Abs or the back. Lol He holds everything together. When he is off it brings his confidence and the rest of the O-lines confidence down. The O-line is just plain and simply getting beat off the snap.

a developmental backup player ...that's anticlimatic

Harbs says rookie C/G Ryan Jensen will be a developmental backup when he's healthy enough to play.

If this is true and I'm sure it is, then Harbs and company have a lot of explaining to do on why he was not IR'ed!

i agree here. if he can't play what's the point of holding a spot the we need, i guess they're holding it for asa jackson.

Pretty much.  I'm sure we'll want Asa.  We're thin at Corner, and he's ANOTHER returner.  Which we somehow have in spades.

Well, the run blocking problem clearly wasn't McKinnie.

Now it's Gino's fault?

It might be. Maybe Ozzie can trade a couple more day 2 draft picks for another center.

It's hard to argue this these days. I rewatched some of the game today and it was scary how many blocks the OL is outright missing. Flacco didn't get sacked 5 times yesterday solely because Gino was getting blown up, though that was a factor a bit too. But Yanda and KO were missing blocks too. And NONE of them are getting any real push forward on the LOS. Everytime Rice or Pearce got to the line, there was hardly an offensive lineman even in front of them. As much as I am unhappy with Rice's play too, there are no real holes or lanes opening up for him either.

I'm not a big fan of Gino but when not even Yanda can play well I don't know if you can blame it on him. I was really mad at Gino yesterday but he can't be the problem, at least not alone.

I get gino is struggling but what has Jensen done for anyone to think he is a good replacement he has done nothing at the nfl level ? small school product too. Shipley gino beat him out

I think a large part of that is the FO and coaching staff want to see the younger guy win the job.  Shipley had terrible games in the pre-season while Gino did well.  With that said, Gino has be horrible since.

Obviously Jensen isn't some sort of savior but we might as well see what he's got.

Can't imagine a change won't take place if his play continues as is. Like to see them deal a late round pick or current player for a center from a non contending team. He has not shown that he is ready or able.

Shipley came in at LG last week, so are you saying he should replace KO?

Gino Gradkowski: 'When you're that close, there's no excuse. You got to execute. We'll work hard to get it cleaned up.'

Atleast Gino is self-aware. I hope he starts to turn things around. He had some nice moments, but he needs to get better at lining everyone up. Alot of what's wrong with the Oline comes down to communication between the players.

Go to work Gino! Work hard!!!

I'm assuming Geno is talking about the failed series inside GBs five yard line?

I think you can't appy that statement just on the performance of the Oline for the entirety of this season. They need to get better, but it's not an individual effort, but one they need to take as an unit. That can take time.

I agree.  And in some form or shape i symphasize with him.   His working hard.   But he just doesn't have it right now or ever will this year.   I really hoped our FO found a way to urge Birk to stay another year.

Gino has to get command of this oline quick.  We just got too much talent to dump this season into a barrel b/c we can't get our run game going.

If this is true and I'm sure it is, then Harbs and company have a lot of explaining to do on why he was not IR'ed!

What was he supposed to say? "When Jensen is healthy in a few weeks he will be our starter. Gino it's your job for now but not too much longer."

Heck no. My gut says its him avoiding the question bc of the implications. Not saying Jensen is a lock to start, but he'll definitely have a shot at playing and winning the job. Healthy rookies who are a project the coach is hoping will develop into just a backup role don't get roster spots. They go on the PS.

Now when that player is injured and won't play for half the season it's even less likely. They didn't give him a spot on the 53 this whole time in hopes he would develop into a backup. They hope he develops into the starter, at worst a serviceable versatile interior backup.

But that projected ceiling has to be darn high to put a rookie 6th rounder with a broken foot on the roster while not cleared to play for the first half of the season almost. If it wasn't they'd have put him on the IR and let him develop.... Where rookie developmental backups belong.

His words are just him saying the right things bc Jensen may not be 100% for a while. Their gut could be wrong. And even if he does take a starting role, saying that is the plan publicly all but guarantees you're not getting the best out of Gino or Shipley until Jensens ready and there's not telling when that could be if ever.

His words may have said one thing - but his actions (keeping him fostered this long) say something entirely different. Actions speak louder than words.

Gino is the main reason the offense has been anemic.

For those who don't understand

Center is the captain of the oline. Most important position in that department

He's not only responsible for keeping the biggest defender on the field honest, but he calls the shots.

When the center falters, the oline as a whole falters.

When the oline falters, the RB won't play well.

If the running game doesn't get going it becomes a lot harder to pass the ball.

That's a recipe for a bad offense.
