C Gino Gradkowski needs to be benched

150 posts in this topic

Gino is the main reason the offense can not move the ball. He is going to get Flacco put on IR sooner then later. Has anyone else noticed his poor play? He Almost looks like he is swatting at flies, when he is pass blocking.

Agreed.   He can't blocked.  Perhaps,  the rookie Ryan Jensen will give us a better chance to win.  I like Gino but he is not the guy.

Gino needs to hit the weight room if he wants to be a starting NFL Center.

I see nothing at this point to believe he's nothing better then a backup lineman.

I'm not ready to completely give up on him but so far it's not looking good. Really hope he gets it together. He just looks really soft to me.

If anyone is playing Center besides Gino it's Shipley.  Jensen barely got to play during OTAs.

I agree. Have to wonder whats on the free agent market?

It's not his size that's the problem, it's the blitz recognition or lack thereof

To say that he hasn't been over matched by larger tackles would be inaccurate.  However he did a lot better against Raji than I thought.

except when we run the ball.  That's when bad things happen.

Yes, he needs to learn to at least chip the defender to throw them off instead of letting them run right by.

When he gets to the second level he's basically in no mans land.

Actually he's graded out well when blocking on the second level.  It's when he's down blocking there's a problem.

I get gino is struggling but what has Jensen done for anyone to think he is a good replacement he has done nothing at the nfl level ? small school product too. Shipley gino beat him out

I don't understand what the harm could be in giving Shipley a shot at the job.

I understand he had snap problems with Joe early on, but Shipley has at least shown he can be serviceable in an NFL game as a starter. Gino has not yet.

Even if just for 1 week, 1 half, 1 quarter. They need to little by little start shaking up the Oline otherwise you teach a young guy like Gino that his terrible performance is acceptable. It breeds complacency. Take his job away and I guarantee at the very least you motivate the guy. Plus you show the backups that there is an opportunity to earn a starting role.

Motivates the starters and the backups. And if it doesn't you expose them for what they are.

I think people are intrigued by him because for the ravens to keep him with his injury early on showed they had high hopes for him, instead of just cutting him. Harbaugh also said in a press conference that they have plans for him on this football team, THIS year. So there's got to be something there that the ravens like.

He's kept a spot as a rookie on the 53 man roster with a broken foot while we've cut Bajema 3 times, Stokley, and Doss who have all contributed.

The logic is, why would the team give him 1 of our coveted 53 spots for this long with a broken foot unless he's shown some serious potential in his limited time.

And he wasn't beaten out by Shipley and Gino... hes been injured. Cant play with a broken foot. Not saying he would have definitely won the girl, but he hasn't even been allowed to the dance yet.

I am curious about why he is taking a roster spot as well.

Seriously? I feel like he totally gets beat by his assignments and just looks lost. Like he's not sure where to go or who to pick up.

I didn't focus on him at all yesterday since I was trying to watch Monroe the closest so I don't know how he played vs Raji.

i'm aware he hasn't even competed for the job . I too am curious why he has a roster spot and I am curious to see how that turns out .I just don't get why everyone is so infatuated with him esp not knowing what he can do . I too hope he can come in and fix things I'm just not sure the entire problem is just on gino I think he is getting far too much credit

Did anyone notice with Shipley in the game against the Dolphins last week the line did WAY better?  They rushed the ball last week for 133 yards (the highest all season, and only time over 100 yards this year).  It's obvious he makes the line better.  Why the coaches continue to not play him is beyond me!

I'm not going to pretend I've broken down every play but he has graded out well in 2nd level blocking, just not when he's matched up against a single player.

Jensen also played tackle in college could he be groomed for that postion and not center . knowing Mckinnie was aging and oher up for a new contract. and how come you can't find anything on his college games

I believe snap and penalty issues during preseason .I missed most preseason games so i'm not sure beyond what I have heard
