[News] Eugene Monroe Breaks Down First Start

78 posts in this topic

Remember we are only six games in, this team is not going to be what it is now at the end of the season. I honestly think we are fine at WR, but the biggest problem is the play calling. There is a reason why we went 3 and out on almost 80% of our drives against the Packers. We can complain all we want, but it really all comes down to the coaching, and how they are going to fix the struggles.

Also forcing the run game is not a good plan to get the run going. It actually hurts our offense, and doesn't help the run game at all.

@TxRavensFan - Yeah, zone blocking is really working for Houston this year....

Arian Foster seems to think so. He had 20 carries for 141 yards this week. The Texans problem is Schaub and Yates who both seem to love throwing pick-6's.

When we see Yanda being penalized, it's unbelievable. The entire O line is out of sync. Castillo has to be fired now. He is well on his way to destroying our chances of winning any games. Why was he ever hired? Must be somebody's friend. Same old story.

I lost count of the times Yanda was "helping out" the middle with Gradkowski. Unless I'm missing something, last year, Yanda could focus on what his job was, not his and someone else's.

"play conservative" - that's a first time calling on this board - every other person wants the Ravens to be more aggressive, put 100 points on the board and chop other teams heads off - at this point if I were the coach and I was reading this board I would think we had a bunch of fans that have no clue what they really want our team do or how they want them to do it...

Gamble more, and we will gamble it all away. I am rooted in the old school, old way philosophy from the Ivy Leagues which is played out in the football expressions like "games are won and lost in the trenches" or something to that effect, and "it's a game of inches." It surprised me when Harbs went for it on 4th down, instead of taking the points. And, to me, it was practically idiotic with less than 25 seconds left that we decide to go for 40-yard passes. So both decisions cost us 6 points (2 field goals). Those decisions cost us the game. (Sure, hindsight is 20-20.)

If the Ravens make similar decisions in the future this season, we won't win ten games. Furthermore, if we make decisions like yesterday during a game, I argue that we probably would not have won a Super Bowl.

Old way: Improve the running game while we get Flacco's targets healthy.

Monroe played a good game but like I have been saying all year long Left Tackle is not the problem for the Ravens Offensive Line. The center which is the anchor of the line is basically non existent. Gradkowski has the stature of a bowling ball and I'm pretty sure that is why he is always on the ground rolling backwards about 5 yards.

I was at the game and it seemed like half of the stadium was yelling for them to go for it and the other half was not so happy that they didn't take the points.  I'm not disagreeing with you but majority of the fan base wants us to play like the NE or Denver and all of those other "Elite" teams; those other teams would have done exactly what Harbs did.  It was a bad call cause it was unsuccessful and if they scored a TD Harbs would have been labeled coach of the year.  Personally, I don't know exactly what I would have done, it showed a lot of confidence in the team which I think the players needed to see both on offense and defense.  Unfortunately, again, it was unsuccessful and while you can say those 2 calls are what "lost" the game cause of the points on the board when the reality of it is is that the defense kept Rodgers and pack out of the end zone for almost 3 quarter and failed to put ANY points on the board.  Our offense lost us that game with their inability to score points.  As they all said, too little too late!!!!

and that's where you are wrong cause he is not the one receiving the low grades out of all of the linemen

LMFAO He hasn't gotten above a D the whole season and has recieved 4 F's. Sunday Yanda had 1 guy pinned on Oher's back with his right hand, 1 guy in front of him and still managed to get a hand on Hawk before he sacked Flacco the 1 time. The only person Gradkowski touched was Osemele's back with his left hand, Hawk ran right past him and he ain't even put a hand on him. Watch the Game film on NFL Rewind. When you run the ball the O-Line is suppose to go Forward. Yanda and Osemele are always in front of the line of scrimage but watch Gino. He gets knocked backwards on almost every single run play. The one play Raji carried him about 4 yds into the backfield and tackled Rice 3 yds short of the line of scrimmage. Gino is the weak link, I been saying that since Week 17 last season when he started against the Bengals. He sucks

Monroe showed that he is better than McKinnie. At least as far as first impressions go. Yes, he did get beat on the sack-strip, but to me I think Monroe looked more athletic, mobile, and determined than McKinnie has looked this year. Monroe looked quicker on his feet as well. Of course, we're talking about only one game so far, but it's just inconceivable to me that he won't play better than McKinnie. Bryant just goes through the motions and I really think his career is about over.

Every week its the same problems, when will they actually fix it,tired of hearing excuses all the time. This offense is so predictable i see the plays that are being called and they are so easy to stop.No type of creativity what so ever,Caldwell needs to get his butt on the field and interact with the offense and Flacco to fix the problem.Hands on up close and personal, like Sean Payton and Bree's do.Grrrrr...so pissed at this team.
