AP son passes away

65 posts in this topic

This is sad but happens far too often, being the child of someone famous doesn't make it more tragic.

Hopefully this helps raises awareness, we as men (or women) have a responsibility to protect those who can't defend themselves.

Couldn't of said it better. I read news like this every other day --- and it does happen a lot, and it makes me sad for a few minutes then eventually move on throughout the day.... But for some reason this has stuck with me the entire day, it's extremely stomach wrenching.

Absolutely nobody deserves this to happen to them, but AP is one of the classiest, nicest, caring and respected in the business. I feel so bad for him and his family and they've had my thoughts and prayers all day.

Ravens<3, the first thing that came to my mind today when I heard this news was of one of my cheerleaders calling my home one Sunday to tell me that one of our football players had been killed in a drive by shooting on Saturday night.  I was so numb all I could do was sit on my front porch steps and cry.  I kept asking myself why?  I just saw him play that Friday night, and scouts had just started to come around on recruitment visits to see him.  He was a good kid with so much potential,  just wrong place, wrong time.  Upon hearing AP's news today it immediately took me back to that place and like you, I haven't been able to shake it all day.

Teaching kids you often see way too much of the darker side of life than you would like, and it makes you very grateful for the multitude of bright spots and successes that come as well.  All in all, it teaches you to appreciate that life is about balance.  As with my student T.K., and AP's son, you hope and pray that out of these senseless acts of devastation there will be opportunities for postive change so that no matter the age, 2 or 18, the untapped potential of these kids lives taken too early will have value.  Whether through activitism, donations, volunteering, raising awareness, or simply hugging a child, something positive may rise out of the negative.  It might be a simplistic view, but it works for me.

Yes, South Dakota does have the death penalty.

Correct, and there have been three here since 2007, all for first degree murder.

Terrible tragedy, something that no child should have to suffer through and no family should have to mourn. People are sick.

Justice will be served.

I wonder if he'll be charged with first degree murder?

Seems to me it will be difficult to prove this was premeditated.

Capital punishment would be too humane for this [horrible person]. Impalement would be more justified.

suprised you didnt go for the even more brutal crucifixion ,  it takes days to die from it organs are crushed before you bleed to death

You have to wonder if Patterson knew whose son that was...if he didn't, he's a monster, if he did, he's an incredibly stupid monster. AP got that $100 million contract a few years ago, I think a small measure of that is going to ensure this guy has a very, very hard life ahead of him.

This makes me even more pissed off knowing that this could have been prevented if they had locked Patterson away a while go. He was previously charged for abusing a 3 year old whose mother he also abused as well.

The Argus Leader reports that Joseph Robert Patterson had previously been given a suspended sentence on two domestic abuse cases, one involving an assault on a woman he was previously involved with, and another involving an assault on that woman’s child.

Patterson was given a one-year jail term for each of those two charges, but the jail time was suspended on the condition he attend domestic violence counseling.

That means he probably called his lawyer first and that's what he got told to do. That'll be about getting the charge downgraded.

Maybe he didn't plan for it to go as far as it did or something.

THIS is what is wrong with our judicial system.

I have ZERO respect for Adrian Peterson! None!!!

"Peterson, 28, has admitted that he only saw the boy for the first time after the child was in a coma."

Yeah. That's not good for his image at all. I guess he didn't want him.

doesnt ray Lewis have like 6? Or is it the fact he has nothing to do with them that's the loser part in your eyes?

Not really sure where Ray Lewis fits in with this Adrian Peterson topic right now, but yes, that fact that he only acknowledges 4 of his supposed 7 kids, just met his son that unfortunately passed away and now just seems to be very typical to me. Sad, really!

Other than the fact I'm sure u didn't think he was a loser, nothing. Yea appears to be quite common these days, especially in athletes. You'd think they would learn after the first one.

Peterson Lewis cromartie to name a few.

It's not just athletes, it's an embarrassingly large segment of the American population.  You don't have this craziness across the pond?

What stuns me is that they really should know to use protection. Pretty much all teams make a point of telling their players about the risks.

Without treading into political and religious territory, there is an incredibly large segment of the population against such logical measures.

I knew the whole story was fishy when it broke, he distanced himself from it all because he had no relationship with the child.

Who are any of us to judge how many children a man has? the only thing that should matter is if he willingly supports them or not.
