NFL Concussion Documentary:  originally suppose to air in ESPN(?), but was picked up by PBS.

Just what we need, a documentary to show Roger more defensive rules are needed. Look, when you sign up to play Youth Football, you know the risk. When you decide to play in High School, you know the risk. When you take a full football scholarship at a major college, you know the risk. When you decide to enter the NFL Draft, you know the risk. These players are acting like they didn't know the risk of playing football. Yes, the medical world wasn't advanced like it is today and I'm sure if it was, most of the players wouldn't have any problem with the NFL at the moment.

I'm not too sure youth and high school players can fully understand the risks. Even college players might not be that aware. Heck, they still haven't figured out the risks of texting while driving. It's pretty normal for young people to believe they're indestructible.

There are a couple different manufacturers that make concussion resistant helmets.  The NFL does not require the players to use these helmets.  Of course, there aren't any players that use them.  Why hasn't Goodell ever been asked about this?

Finally caught up on this.  Made me think about some things, things I knew but didn't really keep in the forefront of my mind.  I don't know what the actual risk at the lower levels, but it made me glad I wasn't allowed to play football.  Everyone needs to give this a watch.

 

What pissed me off the most was what they did to the scientists.  I didn't realize the extent to which the cover-up permeated the league, nor did I know about just how much they attacked those who presented the research.
