Hard Knocks

NFL owners agreed to be able to force a team to do HBO's Hard Knocks if no team volunteers.

There are a few caveats. If a team has a new head coach, has been in the show in the past 10 seasons, or if a team has made the playoffs in the past 2 seasons they are exempt.

Any thoughts on this matter? Personally I find ridiculous that a team can be forced to participate, but on the other hand I will enjoy watching the Steelers training camp next year :P

I really don't care which team does it, but I'm guessing the vast majority of coaches are quite upset with this decision.

Makes too much money for the league for it to stop. It says the NFL will 'compel' them so I'm sure whoever gets it will also receive some share of the dough - they always get paid.

Some teams might volunteer even if they meet all the exemptions. The 2008 Cowboys and 2013 Bengals both met all 3 proposed exemptions but still volunteered to do the show. There's publicity and money in it.

Too bad the Ravens will most likely never volunteer.

I love hard knocks, it will be great to see better teams get featured. Coaches have to be pissed though but who cares, it's all about entertainment.

Hard Knocks is awesome.  The debut Season with the Ravens was my favorite show to watch.  I can see why coaches don't like it, but to say it has an impact on how a team plays is ridiculous.  Publicity here and there isn't a bad thing.
