Safe to wear opposing jersey at The Bank?

12 posts in this topic

Hey guys, going to Packers/Ravens on Sunday. My buddy who I'm going with is a Packers fan and plans to wear his Rodgers jersey. I have heard various different opinions on whether he should or not from people I know so I just wanted to get the answer from those who know. Other than being the subject of some chirping which is obvious, is it safe to wear an opposing jersey?

For the most part, yes. However, anywhere you go there are bound to be your crazies here and there. Just tell your friend not to participate in any heckling from the fans, and not to start trash talking at any point to any other fans there. Even the best people, when influenced by alcohol, go berserk from time to time.

Just don't be THAT guy who wears a Pittsburgh jersey to a game where Pittsburgh isn't even playing and you should be fine. I've been to a couple of games and the people I've sat around have been extremely cordial to opposing fans.

Tell your friend to stay out of the men's room when it is busy with drunken Ravens fans that really have to go!

There will be a LOT of Packer fans this week. Not only is there a large contingent is this area, they "travel well" and are pouring into town. As long as none of them start trouble, your friend should be fine. There's no real animosity between them and us.

If it helps you at all... I live in CIncinnati and go to the game when Baltimore comes to town every year (which is a bit more of a rivalry), I always go wearing Ravens gear of course. Just tell your friends to take all the things people say to him light heartedly and never respond to hostility. I like when Bengals fans attempt to intelligently talk to me about our respective teams but when people are just being ignorant and hostile I just try to lay low and keep to myself. The worst experience I have ever had was last year during week 17 (in a game that meant absolutely nothing) the ravens scored and I stood up and did the touchdown sign and I was hit with a snowball, I jawed at the guy who did it for a second but then I just sat down and watched the game and a very kind Bengals fan called the fan hotline thing and the guy who threw the snowball was thrown out of the game.

ravens stadium is quite odd, most loud and hyped stadiums like ours have hostile ignorant fans, like seattle, denver, pitt, NE, NY, KC, philly, etc. but our stadium tends to be very welcoming, of course you got hecklers, and of course you got the occasional drunk (i can be that guy from time to time depending on how the opposing fan(s) or refs are acting) but for the most part you got nothing to worry about, tell him keep a low profile in there and be respectful, and stay out of the bathrooms during intermissions lol

I went to Indy for our game, and got heckled more at my layover in Cinnatucky, then I got at the game..
