UPDATED: MESSAGE BOARDS CLOSING AFTER DRAFT   03/08/2017

After careful consideration, we have decided that we will sunset our message boards after this year's NFL Draft. Since we opened our boards a decade ago, the digital landscape has greatly evolved. While we understand there remains a smaller group of highly-engaged fans who participate in conversation in our forums, a significant amount of the dialogue about our team and our games has migrated away to other social media platforms over the past several years. Our message boards will remain up and running through Friday, May 5th, and will be removed on May 6th. We recognize that this change may upset avid members of our community. However, we look to utilize our time and resources to focus on how we can best connect with our fans across an array of digital/social outlets. If you are not already engaging us and other members of the Ravens Flock on our Facebook page, Instagram account, through Twitter or Snapchat, we invite you to follow us on those channels and continue to participate in our social communities. In addition, the commenting feature on our website articles will remain intact. Members will be able to continue using their boards account to log in and share their thoughts at the bottom of every news story. We’d like to thank all the Flock members and our moderators who have brought thoughtful conversation to this space and made our community great for the last 10 years. Ravens Social Media Hub »

Will Redskins fans stay loyal?

20 posts in this topic

I just want to start this thread off by saying I'm not looking to start a political debate over whether the Redskins name should be changed or not.

What I want to know and discuss with other Raven fans is if they think that Skins fans will stay loyal to the team if the name is changed.

If you were or are from MD, VA or nearby you will know that Skin fans claim to have the most loyal fan base in the league.

So will the fans stay loyal and root for DC's team if and when the name is changed?

Please don't turn this thread into a political debate.

I don't think it'll matter in terms of them losing fans. They'll just be mad at the league and bitter about it. That would be my guess.

It's not like they are moving.

Easy answer. Would you stay loyal to the Baltimore Ravens organization if they were pressured into changing their name?

I see nothing wrong with the Redskins name.....They should protest to keep the name if it was ever happened for the change.

My answer would be they will stay royal for their team.....

Sorry they are keeping the name I guess some people dont know that they do alot for the smokey mountain reservation  that Franchise is a Historic Franchise that has given to the native american community as a person who can claim heritage I think its not a slander  of a name never will be .

I can think of a reason why Redskins fans won't remain loyal to their team. But, it has nothing to do with a name change.

I live in redskin country last year it was all rg3 redskins banners everywhere  i'm not seeing that as much this year . I'm not sure if its because there doing poorly or what but I don't think the name change will make a difference folks are already jumping off  that bandwagon

I like how the OP says twice not to turn it into a debate about whether or not to change the name...and comments immediately follow discussing the merits of changing the name.

As for whether they would stay loyal, I mean, the vast majority would, you don't just stop following a team in the same city because they're called something else now, with the same players, but there are definitely some people who would probably stop following football altogether as a way of "sticking it" to the NFL if Washington changed the name.

Nobody should dictate to people of other races what they should and shouldn't find offensive. With that said its on the Redskins organization to change it or not.

They had fans? You really do learn something new every day

They have a proud history and tradition, to think we're attacking such a noble name. It shouldn't be a surprise they're going off the reservation.

It works the other way too... trying absorb every bit of money he can from the fans... Walking on the sidewalk ( Fee) , no walk-ups at 6 flags, paying to see training camp
