Ravens re-sign WR Brandon Stokely and re-cut TE Billy Bajema

108 posts in this topic

It could mean, that the Ravens are confident in Thompson's ability and Jacoby's return. Either way, this could mean, that our big play offense is back in buisness with all the added speed to the roster.

Well, if this is a "temporary roster move" should we expect to see a trade?

I wouldn't say that we should expect one per se, but this is definitely a move that buys a little bit more time to see if one is out there.

Interesting, I wonder who they see filling that third down role.  Stokley was only marginally effective anyway.

Scratch that, I see he's expected to be re-signed.  Clearly they're trying to trade McKinnie.

Good move. Stokley wasn't contributing much, and our receivers have gotten healthy.

I tend to disagree. Stokley was good on 3rd down, probably the best we.got so far. But not being able to play hurt his chances. Either way the word is Ravens cut him because he is not healthy to play this weekend, but plan to re-sign him on Monday. Bringing Bajema is good move,. Ironically Bajema is most sure handed TE we.have 100% in catching the.ball. Its time to plug in Kyle Jusczyk and see what he can do. He couldn't be any worse than "Butterfinger" Dickson and "Slow-Mo" Clark.

So if we are looking for a trade, what does everyone think we're looking for? Maybe we're looking for a offensive weapon or a lineman? Or maybe just a draft pick to get rid of McKinney? I'm guessing we might have a few offers or options and the Ravens are thinking them over, since this cut was only temporary move. I doubt we make a trade before the game Sunday.

It has to be McKinnie as a trade if that's the avenue we're exploring.  No need to carry 10 lineman on the roster.  If we are making a trade, I doubt we bring anyone in.  It's likely for salary relief only, and whatever we can get is great.  If we can't trade McKinnie, I think Reid is likely to get cut since he's a weekly inactive anyways.

I can see them keeping McKinnie for the remained of the year. He's slower than he used to be so maybe he can backup the LT and LG position.

Probably looking for a rental at Center in exchange for McKinnie. Either that or a 6th or 7th rounder

If I had to guess (and this IS just a guess), I'd say tomorrow is Dickson's last chance. If he doesn't impress, he'll be gone as soon as Stokely is healthy enough to p,ay.

Wide receiver Brandon Stokely has been cut. Billy Bajema has been resigned. Maybe it was because of the groin injury Stokely had? Anyways, this shows that the Ravens are very confident in the young guys we have at wide receiver.

I honestly had a feeling that Stokely was going to eventually be cut if the young guys such as Brown, Thompson,  and Doss continue to impress either through game or practice. Stokley is a solid slot receiver but he's 37 and  his stamina isnt what it used to be  because of it.

But then you have the situation where he has a great game, we keep him, and he goes back to stinking up the joint. No thanks. He needs to just get his papers and walk.

So, apparently, Brandon Stokley might be a Raven, again, as soon as Monday...

[twitter]RavensInsider[/twitter]: "Brandon stokley is expected to be re-signed by ravens as soon as monday so likely a temporary roster move"

Okay, now I'm confused. I easily thought Stokley's release was the result of him being (too) injured and because Jacoby Jones and Deonte Thompson are read to suit-up for tomorrow. Plus, I think Tandon Doss is easily capable of replacing Stokley's spot as that "extra" receiver who can attack zone coverage. Meanwhile, Torrey Smith would be the #1 WR, Marlon Brown would play the slot and J.J. and Thompson, together, can rotate as the outside threat.

But, can anyone guess what the Ravens are up to, if they plan on bringing Stokley back, next week?

EDIT: I didn't see that rmw10 had already posted Aaron Wilson's Tweet.

I wonder why they didnt just cut stokley to begin with? His injury must be more serious than first thought.

I was thinking the same thing. It seems strange that we cut Bajema then cut Stokley then re-signed Bajema.

Probably just buying time, hoping to trade McKinnie. Unlikely Stokley was going to play this week, so it makes sense to release him. I thought he'd be gone for good, though.

Ah. Now I see. Perhaps we have something with Miami. Interesting that we're waiting until after the game. Sounds like we gave a deal in place.

I know there reports that Stokley may be back on monday but it still exciting to  get a chance to see what the young guys can do especially Thompson or Doss; If Jones is healthy enough to play then  i expect Marlon Brown to be line up in the  slot alot

I mentioned it earlier.  Most likely insurance in case Thompson and/or Jacoby couldn't play.  They got Thompson's test results back today, and I'm sure they wanted to wait on Jacoby as long as possible.  It seems that both checked out, Stokley would have been inactive anyway, so they cut him.  No one will pick him up (a la Trevor Pryce) so he was a safe cut that will be available when they want to bring him back.

This is happening beacuse they want to run the ball. Banjam is the only TE we have that can block at all. They need him for heavy run sets.

When the run game doesnt get off the ground , beacuse our line is garbage... I wonder who Harb is going to blame this week?

Yeah, I read that later. Pryce was claimed, though. Didn't the Jets steal him from us?

Lol, what if we aren't working on trading McKinnie? What if we're working on trading MIchael Oher? I find that funny. Unlikely but funny.

Pryce was claimed?  I'm pretty sure he was a vested vet at the time so he was not subject to waivers.  If I remember correctly, he chose to go to the Jets.

That would be crazy lol, but it has to be McKinnie.  He's borderline useless to us after this week when Monroe gets the scheme and playbook down.

Yeah, that's what I meant. He signed with the Jets. I think you know what I meant, though.

I know. I just thought it would be funny because everyone expects us to trade McKinnie then we shock them by trading Oher for 5th or 6th round pick or something crazy like that. Ozzie is so unpredictable. Never know what's under his hat. I'm not trying to stir the pot here. Just making a funny observation using and a joke to make a point that perhaps it's not McKinnie we're trying to trade.

Kinda sorry to see this move, but I realize that it's due to my own personal feelings so I have no problems with it. Whatever is best for the team is fine with me and I'm sure that's the case here. I suspect his groin injury is a big part of it. I Do hope that Thompson can somehow stay healthy for a while. It's pretty hard to determine what he brings to the table when he is on the sidelines hurt all the time. JJ coming back was, also, a big factor in the move no doubt. Doss has contributed significantly in the return duties while JJ was out but, typically, has once again not been much of a factor as a receiver. He is healthy, however, and Stokley is not. If both Were healthy, even at age 37, I think Stokley was and is a better and more consistent receiver. I just hope that real soon, if it's not already the case, that JJ, Thompson, and Brown can be, and stay, healthy. It would be nice to see our full squad of receivers available and healthy.

Yeah just making sure.  I saw someone earlier say that Pryce was claimed on waivers.  Just wanted to make sure I wasn't losing my mind and remembering incorrectly.

Either way, no one is going to grab Stokley, so it's a safe move.  Same reason Bajema is going to be that guy that gets cut every now and then.

can we just get somebody who can catch the ball?

and not drop it on 3rd down.

I honestly think if Dickson wan't such a high draft pick .3rd or 4th? I think he would be on the chopping block.

No way we resign him after this year anyway unless he has a huge and i mean HUGE  turnaround.
