Week 5 - Baltimore Ravens at Miami Dolphins

3,063 posts in this topic

If I had to guess, I'd say we'll see a game plan like this:

Billy Bajema as a blocking TE used some as a move TE. Dickson going on deep routes. Clark working the middle of the field. Thompson and Torrey being used everywhere. Rice used as a receiving weapon and as a RB. Pierce complementing Rice as always. Leach used in his usual role. Doss will continue to see his role of return specialist and used on third downs.

I'm not nervous about our chances of winning. I'm more concerned about our chances of an injury to someone like Torrey.

Here is my view without trying to sound overly pessimistic.

#1 - Dickson drops more catches than he drops as clearly evidenced so far. #2 - Clark is just as unreliable and cannot get separation unless over the last week he has suddenly improved which is entirely possible but unlikely. #3 - Thompson doesn't quite have the body of work to give you a comfort level despite catching for 50 yds last week. #4 - Doss is a reliable return specialist, but moving the chains on 3rd downs, I am not really sure.

So, I am still quite nervous after reading your well thought out post.

I saw some of your posts in the Draft forum and you made a couple good points, that we might draft CB first, but at this point I just can't see Oz not drafting WR and TE in the first two rounds. Maybe I'm overreacting, but our situation at the receiving positions is just horrible. Smith and Clark will be covered all day.

Oh I think TE and WR are still areas we should focus and focus early. I was just saying it wouldn't be bad to draft a CB early either. After all, let's say we get ASJ round 1, Verrett or Colvin in round 2, and take Beckham Jr round 3.

Sorry, but I don't care what you wrote after you said we could draft ASJ. XD Oooooh boy, I don't think I ever wanted to see a player in a Ravens uniform as much as ASJ.

I hate the analysts telling us we need to run the ball more.

No...we need to run the ball more effectively.  What's the point of running the ball if you are only getting a yard every carry.

I was hoping for a good game but I'm watching regardless  . Go Ravens !!!! Here's hoping mckinnie knows he is auditioning for another team and balls out.

Defense will keep us in this game I believe. Just gotta hope our run game shows up. Was hoping Monroe would be play because I was ready to make a prediction that on the first play is a pass and Monroe left Joe for enough time to find Torrey down the field for a TD.

Let's just hope that trade motivated McKinnie or something..

he seems like the type to tune out before pepping up

1. It's true Dickson drops a lot but I think we need to use him to his strength and the only strength I see is his speed. I don't think his hands are strong So having Joe (who throws a hard ball) throw him short passes when he doesn't have strong hands possibly contributes to his drops. Not blaming it on Joe. Just saying let's try using him where he seems best.

2. Clark is slow but he can still be used on those short routes up the middle. He caught some nice passes recently and has been improving each game.

This is my worry.  But I think he is more of the type of guy that will get demotivated, because he knows he's ultimately going to the bench.  You would like to think he plays his guts out to keep the job.

Honestly this is my assessment as well. I don't think he truly cares about keeping his job.

I couldn't agree more with you PuRock. He is the type that may actually tend to shut down to force a trade that doesn't exist... he is a guy that just wants to have fun and if he can get paid without doing much, he'll readily choose that. However, both of us I pray are wrong.

I think Thompson and Doss will both have big days, and we win comfortably.

Where were you? I was just about to get a nice rope to hang myself!

It's always better to be optimistic, but today it's really hard to be.

I agree.

Half the time I'm super pessimistic I'm just trolling but today? Maaaaan that inactive list gave me polio.

Flacco and Rice are only hope for this offense. We have almost nobody on Offense who makes plays except maybe Smith but he will probably be covered.

You are quite the optimist.

Sure, that's true. They both looked good last week though and Miami doesnt have a very good secondary. If they try to shade coverage to Torrey theey will both be open a lot.

I just can't seem to figure it out. Our o-line can't run block well and barely can open up any holes for Rice/Pierce. So now we only have three receivers? I bet somehow Joe throws 50+ times with only few players to throw it too.
