If you could take one player from the Dolphins, who would it be?

That's your opinion. Who would you say is their best player than?

Their QB is okay. They have no running backs to speak of. Jake Long is now in St. Louis. Brandon Marshall is in Chicago. Vontae Davis is a Colt. Wallace? Ellerbe? I don't think so. I just read an article about how bad their safeties are. An argument can certainly be make for Cameron Wake but he's 31 years old now.

That Article is a joke then.. Reshad Jones is a beast

The answer is Cameron Wake. He is the best edge rusher in the NFL and one of the best players overall. I don't care that he is 31. So is Suggs, does that make him less of a player?

Reshad Jones is one if the best young safeties in the game, despite what your article led you to believe and Brent Grimes is a shutdown CB. I would take all 3 ahead of Pouncey, who is a very good player in his own right but its not like he is the best center in football.

Well then you would be wrong. Miller doesn't even play DE, he is a LB in a 4-3 who rushes on occasion. Still, Wake's numbers are superior. Last season 17 sacks, 23 hits, 46 hurries. The only other player that was even close to those numbers is JJ Watt.

Atl didn't have the money to pay Grimes, so that is a poor argument. He has been outstanding this season, even after his injury. He was one of the best in 2011 as well and Atl franchise tagged him so obviously they thought he was an excellent player.

Would your answer be different if you could keep the player for a  long period of time?

First of all you said "best edge rusher" in the game. By that definition scheme is irrelevant. Second, you said Miller "rushes on occasion" and somehow made that a case for Wake being better? That makes no sense. Miller rushes less and still got to the QB more. Third, your stats are bogus. NFL.com and ESPN both have Wake down for 15 sacks last year versus Von Millers 18.5. If your source was off by 2 sacks than I don't have much confidence in the hits and hurries figures either.

For those saying Reshad Jones you might want to change your opinion. He has been horrible thus far, probably because the new LB's can't cover. Pouncey seems to be the safe bet with Wake second. Although Wake is 31, he seems to get better with age.

Cameron Wake. is definitely our best player. No one outside of Wake, besides Pouncey, have exerted themselves into talks of being the best player. Why do people keep bringing up Marshall? He hasn't been on the team since 2011. Davis was a good player but he wasn't in the discussion for top player at that time. Ellerbe is a tackling machine but can't cover to save his life.

As great as Wake is, Pouncey would help us a lot more. You gotta be mental to take an edge rusher over a center given our situation.

Really not taking anything away from Wake because the dude is a man-beast, but Pouncey would help us more.

Id love those two.

But I'd also really like Jordan.

So many choices lol.

But Pouncey for me

He's 31? I would've thought around 26-28...he must have spent quite a while in the CFL

Maybe, but Wake is such an impressive player and he hasnt slowed down at all. Pouncey obviously fills a bigger need, but Wake would take our defense to a different level.

By mental I assume you mean intelligent.

Nope, not at all. With how bad our line has been, how can you in your right mind take Wake over Pouncey?

It's simple! It's a no brainer.

Doom and Suggs have been lethal, making Wake unnecessary.

The offensive line has been lackluster, and Pouncey would improve it greatly.

How can you justify taking Wake? Where would he even play?

Well for one, I'm not ready to give up on Gino after 4 games. Wake would be the best player on our defense. He would play OLB opposite of Suggs or DE in sub packages. Let Dumervil and Wake play DE and have Suggs play a Jack LB.

There are so many ways you can play 3 pass-rushers like that.

It's quite simple, Wake is one of the best players in all of football. Taking someone of lesser talent because of a perceived need is a huge mistake. It's like passing on Jadaveon Clowney in the draft to take the best C available because of need.

I wouldn't say he's the best edge rusher. Von Miller is the best. Justin Houston in Kansas City has been outstanding the past two years and leads the league in sacks. Not to mention Demarcus Ware. If your argument against Pouncey being their best player is that he isn't the best center in the league than it works the same with Wake. Grimes is solid but far from a shutdown CB. I have never heard his name mentioned among the league's best and Atlanta let him walk away and Miami ended up getting him at a bargain price (1yr $5.5 million). I realize he was coming off a major injury but if he was as good as you say he is Atlanta would have found $5.5 million to keep him around.

Just wanted to comment regarding Grimes, but belittling his on-the-field performance because Atlanta didn't re-sign him is unsubstantiated. The Falcons were hesitant to grant him a hefty amount because he was coming off a major obstacle in the surgery on his right Achilles' heel. The same FO saw him struggle with setbacks after the minor knee surgery that occurred on the same side in the year prior, one that cost him the last 5 games of that season. With Grimes turning 30 by the beginning of September, the odds of him returning to form weren't favorable. That being said, he was quietly one of the best CBs in 2010 and 2011. And if his current pace continues, he'll be among the league's best this season as well. In his last 33 games, he's surrendered 107 completions on 208 targets, with a burn percentage of 51.4%, 1,197 yards, 5.8 yards per attempt, 7 TDs to 7 INTs with 33 PDs and a QBR of 66.1. That is outstanding production on a relatively large sample size. He may be grossly underrated at times, but an argument could certainly be made for Grimes being one of the Top 10 CBs in the NFL.

Jadaveon Clowney isn't 31 and injured.

I'd rather have pouncey, since he's just so much younger and we need a center.

Did we mention that Ellerbe is 3rd in the NFL this season with tackles?

Sorry, but like the Boldin move, a mistake.

$$$$$$  <-- The issue.

Can't defend the pass... Easy move

I think Pouncey would give us the biggest upgrade in terms of position, but that's fairly obvious.

So my less obvious choice will be Hartline.

Although I do like Clay for his versatility.

Clowney is injured actually, but that's not the point. You would rather have a lesser player at a position of need. I'd take the superior talent every day of the week.
