Ravens acquire LT Eugene Monroe from Jaguars

What's 2nd???

Center.

He's the QB of the oline. If you don't have a good center the whole line will struggle.

He calls the patterns, and is responsible for keeping the biggest guy on the D in check.

Actually, LT and C are neck in neck tbh

Meaning Wagner will be moved to RT after this season

Well, he has still alot to learn. He played really poorly against Denver.

Osemele played better at RT than he's played at LG.  Offensive line is still an area of concern, but I think now we have the 'Matt Light' to our 'Tom Brady', which is really what you need.

His contract runs through next year. The last year is crossed off in your link because it is a Jaguars website and he is not longer a Jaguar.

Nah it was actually voided.  He's only under contract through this year.

It did until he voided it, according to Aaron Wilson...

So this is basically a half year loaner unless we re-sign him.  Now I see why the compensation was so cheap.  Hopefully we can work an extension out with him.

It's a debate for another time....We stole Monroe!:D

Are you really underestimating Ozzie on this one? :P

So Monroe voided it? I guess we are working on an extension then.

Ozzie wouldn't make this move for a 12+ game rental. He'll get an extension worked out to fix the cap situation...

That's not true. See Josh Wilson.

Cant believe we pulled this off. Were getting one of the best LT's four games into the season without much cap hit and only losing a few later picks. Wow! Great job FO and I cant wait for him to get on the field.

McKinnie won't be cut.  He's a vested veteran so his salary is fully guaranteed for the year.  He'll stick around as a bench guy.  No sense to cut him since we're paying him anyway.

Yeah, I forgot about that clause in McKinnie's contract. I mentioned it early; but, like you said, McKinnie can still line-up in goal-line situations as an extra blocker (playing at tight end). Plus, something "bad" was to happen to Monroe, McKinnie would still be there, as depth.

Assuming Monroe plays well, he'll be the one re-signed.  Oher is gone after this season IMO, I thought that before we traded for Monroe.

I really didn't want to phrase my comment as, "See ya, Oher!", in fear of getting neg-ed. LOL

But, I just have this hunch feeling that Michael Oher's camp will probably be looking for a $20-$25 million contract. And, to be honest, I don't see him being worth it, especially when the Ravens have more important players to re-sign, these next 2 years.

I think we are stuck with what we have right now. I don't think it's possible to learn everything you need to know for the center position in middle of the season.

I think we pretty much have to.  To fit him under the cap, it would require us to cut multiple players.

So, what are the chances he can start after the bye week?

He'll start sooner than that.

Not at all.  I love the move, you have to if you think we can still contend this year.

But it isn't as big of a steal with his 2014 year voided.  Its still great value.  Hopefully Oz puts the finishing touches and extends him to a favorable deal.

I just love Ozzie Newsome.

It's funny. Before the reports of mid to late round picks as compensation were announced, Jaguar fans were expecting "at least a 1st round pick". Then one of them pointed out they made a trade with Ozzie Newsome. Nobody wins a trade with Ozzie. haha

I know his contract is guaranteed, but would it be worth exploring trades with a team like the Cardinals for McKinnie just to recoup some draft picks?

No doubt in my mind we're working on extending him.

Just realized that this could potentially take away our biggest need in the draft so we can focus more on receivers. Even happier.

No one's going to want McKinnie with his atrocious play this year.  He's nothing but insurance at this point.

Im happy as the next guy but hes a free agent after this season and our salary cap situation wont look so good if we sign him to an extension. Im guessing we dont resign Oher next season instead invest in a RT in the draft and a couple of TEs?

Our first real left tackle since JO. I like it! Next year's draft is all freed up now.

We saw how Joe looked, when McKinnie played well in the playoffs. Just sayin. ;)

I don't know about that. Jared Gaither was really good while he was playing for his big payday. He could have been a perennial Pro bowler if he put his mind to it. Too bad really.
