Ravens acquire LT Eugene Monroe from Jaguars

And you know he's going to ball now that he plays for an actual contender.  Not saying he didn't before.  But it takes a toll on a player playing for a cellar dweller for  a few years.

Just maybe Yanda goes to centerOher to right guard?

I don't know about Yanda at center, but always felt Oher would make a great guard.  KO to right tackle and Oher to guard.  I don't care if it means Oher is moved again.  Try something, cause whatever is being tried, IS NOT WORKING!

But how could we possibly afford to do this with Fluko's contract???? Rather have Bolden. Whatever

Even better!

Update: Ravens are sending multiple third-day draft picks to Jacksonville in exchange for OT Eugene Monroe.

Yup, Ozzie knows we'll be getting a nice allotment of compensatory picks next draft, usually in those rounds. What a move.

Really Jags just finally decided to let Joeckel start at LT and move on from Monroe basically it's what everyone assumed the Jags would do with Monroe and what everyone thought the Chiefs would do with B.Albert

Oh god. You just reminded me how the media will find some way to ridicule this brilliant move.

Ozzie has officially made up for the Q trade.

Franchise LT is the third most important position in the NFL. And the second highest paying

The Baltimore Ravens are the best sports organization in the USA. I'm so proud to be a fan of this great organization. Another gift for the fans from the Ravens brass...

Eugene Monroe, 26 years old !

Jacksonville Jaguars

Former 1st round pick, Round 1, pick 8

6'5, 306 lbs

Monroe was widely believed to be one of the top two offensive tackles available in the Draft (alongside Jason Smith).[3][4] Particularly praised for his pass blocking ability, Monroe drew comparisons to Walter Jones.[5] He was selected eighth overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars, a pick that was declared a "steal" by Sports Illustrated's Tony Pauline.[6] Monroe was the third offensive lineman from Virginia selected in the top 15 of an NFL draft in four years, following D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Branden Albert

So, this question remains: Can the Ravens re-sign BOTH Oher and Monroe, during the off-season?

Felt that same way with Huff though. Hopefully he's an immediate upgrade at the jump. This has been weird. We've made a lot of rare roster moves in the past year.

Hmm... I'm assuming it would be another offensive lineman (since Monroe needs a spot on the 53-man roster). Cutting Bryant McKinnie would save the Ravens $500 K, while cutting Jah Reid would save them roughly $414 K.

McKinnie won't be cut.  He's a vested veteran so his salary is fully guaranteed for the year.  He'll stick around as a bench guy.  No sense to cut him since we're paying him anyway.

I think we have something planned for Jensen. We've surprisingly kept him even with an injury

I don't know if we'll be able to keep him long term.  But if we don't whatever we gave up will most likely be made up for in a higher compensatory pick that his contract would net us.

We probably will have worked out a new contract with Monroe which may have been apart of the trade.

Assuming Monroe plays well, he'll be the one re-signed.  Oher is gone after this season IMO, I thought that before we traded for Monroe.

Oh no. Ozzie isn't stupid and he wouldn't let a player like this just walk, I feel an extension coming soon

We'll probably keep him for depth for the year, would be my guess

Meaning Wagner will be moved to RT after this season

Multiple 3rd day picks. Now that's a good trade !!! Hope he can take a physical tonight and get playbook immediately.

Who knows maybe it can light a fire under McKinnie and Oher both.

in case nobody has posted it, cap hit is 5.7 million this year, then contract is up

P.S. my buddy called this back in April and I doubted him, I never will again

His contract runs through next year. The last year is crossed off in your link because it is a Jaguars website and he is not longer a Jaguar.

Ozzie wouldn't make this move for a 12+ game rental. He'll get an extension worked out to fix the cap situation...
