When is mwr10 going to be banned for being an incredible homer who supports every change in personnel regardless of outcome?

What posters should understand is that I'm loyal to Raven players. Especially so when those players have made a difference.  Guys like Bryant McKinnie have my support. Guys like Anquan Boldin. Guys like Cary Williams. Guys like Danelle Ellerbe and Guys like Jameel McClain. Guys like Haloti Ngata.  It's wrong to support tossing difference makers under the bus and when posters mistakenly do so I'm gonna point out their management bias.

Which is not to say there comes no time for the team to part ways with players. Brandon Stokely for instance and Dallas Clark. Stokely is an old time Raven, but he's no longer a difference maker and also he hasn't been a Raven all along either. If he had it might be a lot harder to toss him and Dallas to the Greyhound.

Well, at least you provide comedy sometimes.

No Clay Matthews, looks like Monroe's first game will be a little less hectic considering he's still getting the playbook down. Been really impressed with his body of work with the Jags and all his interviews he's doe since getting to Baltimore. Just seems like a very intelligent and highly motivated guy. Athletic for a guy his size too which should help the run game get going when he get's into the second level. That's something we've had trouble doing all year and it's a big reason why the running game has struggled so bad.

Neal and Perry have both looked pretty good this year. I wouldn't discount their pass rush even without star Matthews.

It's certainly more favorable than having him out there. He's a tough kid.

Oh yeah. For sure. Just saying they still have talent. Not that it matters for the team but I don't want Neal or Perry to get sacks and this place meltdown because people underrated them. They're pretty good pass rushers.

I think their real revelation has been their Oline.  Far more physical than I had suspected.

Yeah that's true. Sitton and Lang have played terrific football so far. That's the strength of the line. Their center is their weakness. He's having a down season compared to last year. Their tackles are good enough so far this year. I do like Suggs against them.

This is a game where I think Upshaw would be more effective than Dumervil because of his strength going against the RT. I think that's a mismatch. Their tackles are pretty good but I'd like to see Upshaw in there more this game. I think he can have a good one.

Right now I like suggs against everybody.

I'm excited to see how Monroe plays in this game. Granted, I don't expect him to play like an ALL-Pro at least not initially but he's got great potential. For a long time he was the best player on his offensive line. That's unfortunate. Hopefully he can elevate the play of KO, which could in turn elevate Gino's level of play. That in turn could elevate Yanda because he won't have to worry about guys from all sides.

That's how one piece could affect the entire line.

It was interesting that the Raven's had their best rushing game of the year two weeks ago and though widely criticized here for allowing pressure on Flacco, Bryant McKinnie also allowed no recorded sacks.

Last week vs the Packers, enter Eugene Monroe, acquired for a 4th and 5th round pick, who allowed 1 recorded sack in the 5 sacks racked up vs the Ravens.

Additionally, the rushing output declined to 47 total yards, 6 of which were gained by Joltin Joe.

So what next? Trade for a center?

We did that in the preseason.  He didn't earn the starting spot.  Monroe had a costly bad play, but he looked much better than McKinnie in his first start for a team he had practiced with for less than two weeks.  I think this trade should be evaluated after a game or two after our bye week.  This past week, it was our guards who struggled more than anyone else.  They really cost us any chance to get drives going until late in the second half.

we barely rushed behind either.  and yeah Monroe gave up the sack, but he gave up fewer pressures.  Also they didn't record it, but mckinne gave up the big strip sack to tie the game.

Because one game is a large enough sample size...  :34853_brickwall:

I'm not sure he likes football.  Clearly doesn't know much about it.

Well, the recollection here is different. Was it a strip sack or was it an athletic reach in to the throwing arm just as the ball was being released despite being ridden into the ground by Big Mac?  Are we talking about the same play?

We rushed for 133 yards vs the Dolphins. It was our high output for the season per recollection here.  That's a lot of yards difference from 47 and especially considering we were home at M&T Bank for the latter.  It use to be we owned our own place.

The whole point being that YES....after 1 game Eugene Monroe did NOT turn things around.  You could say, playing at home, things got worse. But to be fair lets see how he gets up for our big division rival away, but if it were up to me I'd go with the Big Man that has stood up to Pittsburgh in the past.

Ogden's been retired for a long time now, it might be time to get over it.

Since we're apparently picking 1 game samples... how about the Bills game that McKinnie played in?  The RBs got a grand total of 24 yards.

Then I'm sure as hell glad that you're not our coach

This thread needs to be about Monroe's performance and impact in his 1st game nothing else.
