Ravens acquire LT Eugene Monroe from Jaguars

Ah fair take, didn't think of that.

Plus they have a ton of cap space... so it wasn't a hassle for them to eat it and it got them better picks im guessing as he mentioned.

I completely understand for 52, but just because someone makes the HoF doesn't mean their number is sacred.

He isn't just a HoF. He is the first ravens pick, retired a true raven and was arguably one of the best left tackles to play the game. IMHO think that qualifies.

I'm guessing at the time when you posted this, you never read any updated news regarded this deal... Because it had been reported multiple 3rd day picks ( 4th-7th round in the draft ).

KC situation is totally different from Jags, KC made the playoffs 3 years ago, they had pro bowlers on the roster at multiple positions even while losing last season.
Also KC is 4-0 good start lets not break chemistry , jags 0-4 look horrible.
Completely different situations.

Maybe I was wrong, but I still feel like if he was good why would you a team give him up.This is his 4th year. They could've traded him two months ago. I get stupid responses from most of the people here. I actually appreciate intelligent feedback.

Seeing this written like that almost confused me lol

The reason why the jaguars traded him to the ravens mainly  because 1) they  already drafted their future left tackle  2)  They probably are looking towards the future right away and that most likely will  surround the need  for a franchise quarterback and other big needs which may require for them to stock up on picks 3) Ozzie is the man and 4) Ozzie is the man .

The Jaguars didn't trade Monroe because he isnt a good player and good players get traded all the time also most teams only trade for good players any way.

I'm thinking you were responding to 443hurricane's comment The Bold stuff, because he commented within my quote lol. Because as I read your comment jazz1988 I was confused like why am I being quoted in this reply as if I complained about the trade, or needed justification lol..

My comment basically explained the different scenarios regarding the Chiefs roster versus the Jags roster and why the Chiefs haven't traded Brandon Albert but the Jags traded Monroe, because the previous poster questioned if Monroe was worth the trade in a case of damaged goods for lack of better terms.

Yeah 60 looks bad. Its an interior of the line number. Tackles wear 70s.

I would have been ok with Birk's old number, 77 being given to Monroe.

Occupied by Ryan Jensen.

Why'd they give him 60, it's such an ugly number for an OT.  70's belong on the outside of the line.

lol yeah I agree with this. Also, I have no problem with centres wearing 50's. Though I find it weird with LBs in the 40s. Love WRs in the teens, hate CBs in the 40s and DE/DT's in the 70s.

I hate the 40s in general.

Lol BMAC looked pissed

He should've seen that coming just because of his age. It's not about him playing poorly, eventhough that probably factored into the trade, but this is also a great move long term. If Monroe plays well and the Ravens manage to sign him to a long term deal, than Ozzie won't have to spend a 1st round pick on LT in 2014.

Even if BigMac would be playing great right now, a couple 3rd day draft picks for a young LT is an amazing deal.

So, Joe throwing 5 INTs in an embarrassing loss is what it takes to finally spur the FO to acquire a young franchise quality LT.
(more than likely it was the evaporation of the run game + party bus scandal that did it, but either way, I'll take it)

So, what are the chances Ozzie can get a young, promising TE who can block and catch too?

Ahhhh feels like that redskin game last year. Disappointing loss then Cam Cameron gets fired and I had a serious smile as if we won that game lol

I like that they gave him a heads up. Before the news broke.

Hey BMac you're cool and all. Heard you can party and have a mean serve and we appreciate the help getting the ring but we bout to get this Monroe guy from Jax cause he can actually say no to 2nds

Is there another Ravens board!

I didn't realize how many soft shouldered men we have on here.

Sir you clearly have no idea what you are talking about...Where do we need a major influx of young talent at?

You're right Jaydoog. No room for young talent. We're perfect and we have the players we need.

Thanks for the feedback.

KO, Gino, Oher, Pitta, Torrey, Pierce, Marlon Brown, Deonte.

On defense... Williams, Art Jones, McPhee, Upshaw, Brown, Jimmy Smith, Matt Elam, Webb.

All relatively young. In fact all but 1 still on their rookie deals.

That's not to say we don't need young talent - good teams add young talent every year. The problem everyone has with ur post is that you're claiming that by trading 2 later picks for a guaranteed starter at the most important hole to fill devoids us the possibility of getting talent in the draft.

Last I checked we still have a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and 7th with picks yet to come for ellerbe, Kruger, and reed. All likely in the 3rd-5th range.

Do you really think we have 8 holes that can be upgraded by a 4th or 5th round pick???

What is the next option if the line gets fixed but the qb te and wr don't play up to par. I know the line is the cause of the running game. The backs were getting hit before they could get going but our wr and te aren't catching making plays other than torrey and even though brown has three tds he's not eating up a lot of yards.... is it because jones is out or was out... or did we put to much confidence that Flacco could take over without pitta and Boldin. I hope its just all the o line problems. Pitta going down hurt a lot I get that... but there are other qbs with the same problem leading their teams to victory.

I hope there is a way we can keep Monroe and Oher next year... move Jensen to center and I think our line can go back to being dominant.

Name another QB with the same problems as Joe right now. I'm not saying it from a Flacco does no wrong stand point but I honestly don't think there is a another situation that compares to what Flacco is facing right now honestly.

It seems like Eugene Monroe is the kind of hard-working character guy that Harbaugh loves, not that there's anything wrong with that.  I'd be very surprised if they don't find a way to lock him up long term.

I just saw his presser, and love this guy already. Very articulate, intelligent, great attitude. He will flourish here
